“ I killed them on purpose”
“ I am evil”

Yes you did and yes you are. I hope the air is squeezed slowly out of your lungs and you are tortured just like the pain you inflicted on those babies…. It’s hard to comprehend something so evil that walks amongst us.

“ there were no more collapses after Lucy went on admin” 😳

I pray there is justice for those family’s with the jury’s right verdict of Guilty for all cases presented.

Long time follower / never posted on a thread before 👋🏼 Lucy was in the year below me at University. I’m not an RGN so never crossed paths with her clinically but probably did in a lecture hall to corridor. She would have qualified in 2011 so presumably went straight to the Women’s for a while and then did her extra training / became a
Band 6 and moved to Chester. I know some of the nurses having to give evidence in court as they were in my year. I don’t imagine they’ll be able to keep practicing or ever trust a colleague ever again. It blows my mind.

On a side note my son was born in June 2016. I was due to have him at Chester, when I rang the ward the first time they said to ring back when my contractions had sped up. I did so about a hour later and they informed me the NICU ward had suddenly had restrictions placed on it and subsequently labour ward was full so I had to go to a different hospital. I’m not sure if this is directly related to Lucy but I always thought it might be. We live over the welsh boarder so I went to Glan Clwyd - something that I’m forever grateful for. Had both my babies there with fantastic care. I’m not sure on the exact time lines as to whether Lucy would have still been on the ward in a clinical capacity / but a few children that my son goes to school with we’re nursed by her.My babies were term and healthy at birth but the thought my gives me shivers. Thanks for the updates on this thread everyone - it’s been helpful to follow 🫶🏻
Could I ask you a wee question if you don't mind? Well I'm going to and don't answer if you don't feel its appropriate 🙂

Did she wear pink Sketchers and carry her uni work in a Matalan bag? 🤔🤔

If there is restrictions, will these be lifted and information shared after a verdict is reached?
Yeah I suspect so. Find out loads about people once convicted. I do expect alot of damning stuff to come out once/if convicted. I remember someone on here shared a fb comment at the beginning of trial and it was a relative of one of the families and they said that loads of weird, disturbing stuff would come out about Lucy and that she was a nutter or words to that effect.

Actually there is a LOT in that mail report, very very strong witness evidence

Eirian Powell, the nursing manager of the neonatal unit, had first noticed a connection while carrying out a review into three events in June 2015.

'She looked at all the possible things that could be looked at, which was more than a staffing analysis. She looked at other things, too, like incubator space and micro-biology'.

In late June or early July that year he and Ms Powell had a meeting with Alison Kelly, the hospital's director of nursing, and the head of risk. 'Three deaths in a short period of concern were a matter of concern,' said Dr Brearey.

Medical staff had learned something useful from every case they reviewed, but nothing explained the actual reason for the collapses.

Dr Brearey agreed that 'more suspicion arose' as more and more unexplained events happened on the unit.

But when Mr Myers pressed him on why he had not gone to police, he replied: 'You're making this a little more simplistic than it actually was. It's not something anyone wished to consider: considering that a member of your staff is harming babies.

'Actually, the senior nursing staff on the unit didn't believe this could be Lucy until the point – and beyond – when O and P died. None of us (the paediatricians) wanted to believe it either'.

He said the nature of the collapses were 'exceptional', and increasingly staff noticed a failure among babies to respond to resuscitation that would normally bring them round.

'It was also noted that the majority of cases occurred at night when there were fewer staff and parents present…in the early hours…and that a lot of the deteriorations were sudden collapses'.

Despite the concerns of consultants on the unit, there were no obvious 'red flags' being raised either outside the trust or within it.

They eventually decided to bring in a colleague from the Liverpool Women's Hospital to carry out a review in February 2016.

Once that report had been completed the consultants and Ms Powell had sought a meeting with senior executives, including the director of nursing and the director of safety and quality.

Dr Brearey said there was not a single case in the February review that had highlighted a lack of staff.

Questioned again about police not being called in earlier, the registrar replied: 'The reason we didn't go to the police was we wanted to escalate it within the structure of the hospital.

'We wanted the support of the medical director and the executives of the hospital. We were acting on facts, not beliefs. We were trying to escalate appropriately with the facts we had at the time'.

He added: 'I've not been to the police over neonatal deaths and I don't think any other neonatal lead has. I needed executive support. I was doing as much as I could'.

Dr Brearey said of Ms Rees' refusal to bar Letby from duty on the unit despite her association with the collapses: 'She believed that Nurse Letby could not have done that'. <<<THIS IS WHAT YOU CALL BIAS!!!

He went on to elaborate on some of his discussion with the executive, saying: 'I had a conversation suggesting she (Letby) should have the weekend off.

'Karen Rees gave me the impression that she didn't agree and didn't think it was a reasonable request'.

He recalled Letby later walking past him, appearing 'happy and upbeat'.

'She looked me in the eye very confidently'.

When asked who had harmed the baby, she replied: 'It wasn't me'.
This is such an odd answer in my opinion. Especially since she is staying the babies died due to NEC or whatever else she’s said.
surely your answer would be “nobody” not “it wasn’t me” (appreciate we haven’t got the context of the Q asked) but I still think it’s a very odd response.
Surely you’d be sat there saying “oh my god no one would have harmed these babies, have the medics thought of X/Y/Z, we tried to save them” etc not “it wasn’t me” I just can’t comprehend that answer

This might be a controversial opinion, but if she did this, imo she's worse than Harold Shipman.

His victims slipped away in a morphine haze in armchairs. Those babies would have felt the pain and distress of the attacks and attempted resuscitations.
She got such a kick out of texting her colleague to report the death and then receiving sympathy for herself. Then going on to dress the two deceased babies for the parents and taking photos. It's beyond sick. There is no punishment that can go anywhere near fitting these crimes.

Whatever KR is going through is nothing to what those parents are going through. I personally have no sympathy for her. She didn’t do her job right, didn’t even bother to look into the serious allegations made by consultants by the sound of it, and her failure to act led to further attacks on vulnerable babies. She had a duty of care being in such a role, so the responsibility lies with her and anyone else higher up the chain who dismissed this, as well as Letby herself. Good on the doctor for naming and shaming her.

Absolute 🚩🚩🚩 predicting death is a big one. This is as close to motive as we’ve got imo. These kind of motivations are very common to several HCSK I’ve read about and I think her excitement afterwards shows she’s got a real thrill out of finally managing to kill multiples. Dr SB also said she didn’t seem upset at all in the debrief and yet she goes and makes an utter show of herself in front of the parents sobbing and carrying on. Not fucking normal.
Of course if you remove the fact and don’t question why two healthy babies have died in two days, going from fine to dead after a few hours with Letby, then sure her being “bored” (sorry but that’s someone’s loved one, yuck to feeling inconvenienced by how boring somebody is) and having a preference is totally fine and dandy and normal. But this isn’t that. She’s making babies poorly and making them die because she enjoys it.

BM will be looking to say - Letby worked lots. Letby worked in nursery room 1 lots or was such a heroic incredible nurse that she gravitated there even when she wasn’t. Therefore she was around the sickest babies lots. Therefore she was naturally there at more deaths.
And none of that takes into account that these babies were not gravely ill, their deaths were extremely sudden and unexpected (repeatedly said by Letby herself that this is the case), that she has almost always just given some kind of intervention to the baby that then correlates to the serious problem it will have, that the increase in collapses and deaths follows her night or day, that she’s found alone, that the events happen when parents just left, the huge amount of physical evidence such as air that can only have been “administered” etc etc etc. That he’s still going to have to try and convince a jury that O&P died from extremely unlikely and rare complications from the tiny amount of breathing support they were on and dismiss the fact that there are absolutely stark similarities between all the air embolism babies in terms of collapse, resus issues, rashes as depicted by dozens of people and parents, vast amounts if air in the vessels.

@raspberryjuice I’m so sorry for your loss xx

Todays evidence from doctor B!!! Expressed concerns after baby O and requested that letby shouldn’t be allowed back until child O’s death had been properly investigated!! He was refused wtf. And then she strikes again. Evil evil evil. I think she knew they were closing in on her which is why she ramped up her attacks 😡View attachment 2027283
I bet you any money this exec does not work there anymore, has retired on a nice fat pension, and won’t be able to be held to account due to “ill health”

Just going back to the over the top emotion from LL (which I’m more than convinced was for Dr Noname’s benefit to gain sympathy/attention), it is LL herself who is saying in the messages when still on hols and talking about coming back to work how difficult it will be as she’ll be working with babies she doesn’t know, within a few hours of then working with these babies she didn’t know she’s in floods of tears on par with the parents. Sorry but to me this is yet another massive 🚩🚩🚩

So much of it seems to be exactly what we’ve heard already, so many familiar details. For me personally the prosecution have done exactly what they said they would by showing the repeated patterns. Most babies fine/some ready to go home, alone with LL and suddenly they’re dead/nearly dead. This cannot be a coincidence at this stage and she cannot be the world’s unluckiest nurse. She’s evil and has preyed upon these babies revelling in the families pain and wallowing in the sympathy and attention from colleagues/Noname. Makes me sick. And as for her saying about P not making it out alive, she’s openly stating that cos she knows exactly what she’s done/going to do to him 🤢. There’s been too many dead babies that’s she’s handled once they’ve passed too, poor parents last memories of their babies forever tainted by the monster that killed them🤢😩.

I also believe her grievance is going to be about being placed on admin, the fact that even at this stage (just days before she’s placed on admin), she actually thinks she’s going to be considered for some kind of new job, to me just shows how far removed from reality she is, I’m still standing by her being a complete psychopath

What’s interesting to me is when she chooses to show emotion, it’s always for sympathy and/or attention from others from what we hear:

- Dr no name flirting mixed in with chat about babies 😵💫
- constant texts to colleagues about the babies and bringing up how awful it is, but then moans about there not being much team spirit after one of the early babies died 🤨 As if she is disappointed people aren’t dwelling on it?

- the parents of the babies commenting on her over the top/unprofessional reactions/crying

- her own parents about losing 1 baby near the start, seemed to mention it for sympathy

I think it ties in with her being a narcissist with psychopathy. She thrives on the Drs attention and the general drama of the collapses, wants to constantly get people into conversations about what’s happening but as soon as there were people asking her questions about the collapses, she seems to shut it down or have a memory blank🤷

I think she hurt them for the attention and the drama. She doesn’t seem to have any true emotion or empathy for her victims/the parents/the staff members who worked with her- she only knows how to mirror emotions of other people to try and act like a normal person.

Thought that it’s telling she’s not been emotional in court until Dr no-name was called. Maybe this is because she didn’t expect him to turn against her.

I’m convinced she’s guilty now but will look forward to the defences case.
I think your analysis is really spot on. Your post about covert narcissism was really bang on to me too.
She is able to disconnect from what she’s doing to the babies in the moment (to an extent. I think she’s very much connected to it at 1am searching for the parents) in order to create this world for her where she gets lots of attention and excitement. I would think she enjoys the emergencies she creates and has a sense of power over being the one to cause such issues and see everybody panic. It all gives her something to talk about.
I forgot how much of a theme earlier on it is about wanting to be with the sickest babies and how skilled she is, I think she absolutely made this happen for herself. She wanted babies with lots of medical needs and problems, she wanted to use certain equipment and have resus events as they were interesting and eventful. She wanted to create problems for the babies and excitement for herself but I also think she enjoyed creating pain and upset for everyone around her and there was a thrill for her in that.
The sympathy and attention, she never wants to analyse or engage in what could have happened and shuts that down. She knows what was wrong sepsis, overwhelming haemorrhage, Down syndrome, 50% chance of survival, NEC… of the baby that made it to 100days “is it because she was an extreme prem and so xyz so any small thing has tipped her over, no reserves” this baby’s problem literally only happened after being alone with her and for that she is left severely disabled.

She knows she isn’t “normal” and won’t have a normal life, she’s resigned to that in her note. She knew she wasn’t going to have a family. She couldn’t stop what she was doing and she does know that what she’s done is wrong but the focus is still very much on her and what she has to lose because of it. She has self loathing but it doesn’t cancel out the narcissism and arrogance. Bev A didn’t confess until she was convicted but she did tell a psychiatrist she hated herself and something along the lines of wanting to prove she was capable nurse (she’d been told she needed experience with sick children to qualify).
She was upbeat after killing o&p because she’d tried to kill babies in multiples and failed each time and now she’s achieved it and I imagine had endless messages off Noname telling her how amazing she is and how sorry he feels for her and how grateful he was she was there 🤢

The thought of this monster murdering 2 babies a day apart and then using them as props in some weird macabre photo session has actually made me feel physically sick.

I don't even want to imagine what was going through her twisted head as she did so.
