It honestly breaks my heart to think of how these parents must feel knowing she was there at their most vulnerable moments, getting a weird kick out of their grief.

When my nephew died every single nurse, doctor, consultant and paramedic was amazing. They cried with us. They cried making his memory box with his mum, they cried wrapping him in his favourite blanket with his teddy and carrying him to the morgue, the paediatric nurse who had been on duty the night he was taken in to a&e came in on her day off and cried when she helped his mum to dress him in her favourite outfit in the chapel of rest, they kept in contact in the days after, the consultant even came to the house to talk through what had happened that night, a couple of nurses even came to his funeral even though they’d only seen him the night he died. They were such a massive part of that immediate grieving process. It would completely destroy me to think any of them got any satisfaction in watching our family utterly broken.

Interesting it was on the final resuscitation attempt she pricked herself on needle (imo on purpose and deliberate, and not a coincidence it was on the final attempt too I think ) from sky news:

Also from sky news. And if this doesn’t scream attention seeker then I don’t know what else could 🚩🚩🚩🚩:

I don’t believe she even fainted myself tbh

Just sitting here processing everything I’ve heard so far about O&P (and obvs there’s going to be way more we haven’t heard about). This is nuts when you think about it, she’s away on hols whilst on hols Noname tells her about the triplets, the minute she’s back she kills one within just a few hours of starting her shift. Bleeps Noname back herself to NNU after she makes her first attempt on O’s (the stronger ones) life, Noname then leaves to update parents and she goes for him the second time, and bleeps Noname back again herself. Then exchanges messages about O with colleagues and Noname most of the evening/night after killing O. Comes back in the next day, kills P (pricking herself in finger on the final resuscitation attempt). Goes to a&e where Noname makes sure she’s seen quickly, and she tells him how everyone knew what had happened and was talking about it🤢🤢🤢 Messages Noname the rest of the night after he takes her home after a&e. Throws in a few dramatic performances in the hospital were she’s bawling her eyes out and as upset as the parents, dresses both O and P after she’s killed them both, within 24hrs of each other and 24hours of being back to work after two weeks off (two incident free weeks), and then photographs and wheels them into the parents 🤮 forever tainting the parents last memories. Txts Noname saying about how the two deceased (by her hand) babies looked together in the cot. Throws in a weird txt about the parent’s age. Makes up some explanations of what may have caused their sudden deaths which she txts to colleagues. Won’t take the weekend off as suggested by consultant (especially after her dramatic floods of tears performance). Goes back to the work the next day (sat) and is all happy go lucky the very next day. I mean this sounds like some made up horror plot. She’s an absolute monster and this shows her for exactly the torturous psychopath she is 😡

I am leaning towards guilty, but I still go for unsure on the polls, mainly because I don’t want to damn somebody without hearing their side as it were. Which is stupid as I’m only being asked my opinion rather than actually sending someone down!

Its so hard to get your head around though. I think probably everyone is just - why? i went past the neonatal intensive care unit in my hospital today (am pregnant and having a scan) and you do just assume everyone there is basically decent and kind and of course they mostly are.

It could have all been so happy. She could have stayed in a role where she brought hope and joy. She had a nice home. She could well be married by now! The babies would be thriving, mischievous young children, the parents proud and happy. So many lovely stories instead of so much pain, suffering and sadness. WHY?

I did a bit of digging on Karen Rees, mainly to see if she had resigned. These pics below are easy to find publicly so hoping it’s ok to share.

Looks like it was only in October 2015 or just before she got the head of nursing role

Then she got another outstanding achievement award in November 2017 which blows my mind given this point Lucy had been on admin duties/investigated for 18 months.

From what Dr B said today when he asked her to take responsibility and she said yes, makes it sound like at that point in time she chose not to escalate herself. It will be interesting to know what changed her mind a week later or was she overruled higher up.

I can’t seem to find much else at the mo although I’ve not done any linked in digging as I don’t want to log in

Oh did find this too. Tony Chambers has moved on to another interim chief exec job.

Karen Rees deserves jail time too, there's incompetence and then there is gross incompetence that results in the murder of babies.

She sounds so arrogant.

This was from the mail…
He recalled Letby later walking past him, appearing 'happy and upbeat'.
'She looked me in the eye very confidently'.

This gives me the creeps, she really thinks she was getting away with it at this point I think.
Todays evidence was horrible, the consultant was trying to do the right thing through the correct channels, in hindsight I bet they wished they had gone to the police.
does anyone know what the timetable is for rest of trial, when is defence due to start?
I feel we really need to hear from Karen now and why she didn’t do more.

At this point in the trial, when we are nearly at the end of the babies, is anyone else wondering why? Like maybe my emotions are getting to me in the case, but I'm reading the information and finding it so surreal. How can she commit these crimes, yet text and behave so normally? How can she be around these families after causing such devastation? Isn't she scared she's going to get caught. Does she think Dr Noname will stand by her if this is a serious romantic relationship? Does she even care? What about her friends, her job? Doesn't she realise that she can't continue doing this?

I know it's something we may never know, but I just can't comprehend why someone would do this. What do they get out of doing this and how can they carry on?

I can completely understand how people are unsure of her guilt because they can't understand why or how she could do this to these poor babies and their families.

How awful today has been.
Those poor parents who should be celebrating their 3 babies milestones together.
The staff who had no idea why this was happening.

They had no chance when Lucy was their sabotaging these poor babies who couldn't stand up for themselves or tell anyone what was happening. No wonder why it felt chaotic.

And I can understand staff feeling emotions as well, at the end of the day we are all human, but I think I would find myself quite angry if Lucy, who had only been in 2 shifts at this point, was as upset as being suggested. I can understand some tears, but upset to the point where you are almost or are more upset than the parents is really strange behaviour.

I hope these poor parents get some peace after this trial. I can't imagine the pain if losing a child, let alone having to relive it all on trial and some being questioned on the stand as well.

The trust is going to be in a world of hurt when this trial concludes, and rightly so.

How can they know their was “no evidence” against her if they hadn’t completed an investigation. She should have been placed on admin duties or suspended pending investigation as soon as there was any cause for concern.

These poor families have been massively let down by the trust.

I think her comment to Dr N.N " I want to be in Ibiza" is a bit odd in the context of what had just happened. I mean in my office job I'd come back off holiday and think "F-this, I want to be back on hols" if there was any bullshit going down. But you'd think St Lucy who is so dedicated and hardworking and devoted to these babies, does endless overtime and such a good nurse /martyr would want to be there supporting parents and colleagues or just being around people who share the trauma. I might be reading too much into it but it almost feels like the mask slips a bit there. I mean she is clearly loving it and she has to pretend she isn't so comes up with "I want to be Ibiza" as something a "normal person" would say, but it seems really inappropriate in this context.

Is karen allowed to read tattle
On the off chance that she does read…

Morning Karen. I hope you saw every hour last night. I truly hope you never sleep soundly again. You have blood on your hands and I hope one day we see you up in court for the part you have played in ignoring concerns and allowing a serial killer to continue under your watch.

Its a strong witness account. He's not held back from telling court, the exact person who he spoke to regarding his concerns and that it was shrugged off. That doesn't put the CoCH in a good light.
I'm interested to hear what the duty exec nurse has to say.
And he’s doing it with his name, not anon. It really doesn’t put them in a good light, especially considering the insulin cases. I know Letby alone is responsible for her own actions but I really think the hospital are to blame for her carrying on so long, they’ve basically allowed it.

It’s shocking how she was able to get away with it for so long. Have they learnt nothing from cases like Shipman and Allitt? There will always be evil people out to exploit their positions to gain access to vulnerable people (even if you don’t think it will happen in your workplace, that’s why there are safeguarding policies and procedures). I mean, all these unexpected deaths and the higher ups just turned a blind eye? All the way to letter Q fgs! I hope the parents wipe the floor with them when all is said and done. Aye Lucy is the one ultimately responsible and hopefully she will face justice, but they also had a duty of care to those babies and to their own staff.

So just playing devils advocate here, but didn’t Karen Rees just make a really bad judgement call in the moment, like a human being? The executive committee must have all been aware of this by this point- and it sounds like the party line from them was ‘buggar off and stop trying to make this a thing.’ Isn’t it just bad luck that the duty executive that night was also the nursing one (who probably felt even more inclined to stand by her decision given she would have known the nursing staff)? Maybe if it had been someone from another department in duty that evening, maybe Dr B could have convinced them, or they’d be detached enough to at least want to cover their own arses.

I don’t know, I just think that to err is human. She must be going through living hell, and people are rightly angry with her, and because of that call there were more babies. But at the end of it all, isn’t it just a mistake? A, with hindsight, bad call?

I’d be more interested in holding all of the executive committee to account, because the ‘do nothing’ line is all of their responsibility.
For the overall situation, yes there is a full team of executives who need to be held to account.

But in that particular situation, two days in a row two babies died unexpectedly on Lucy’s first two days back after her holiday. Karen knew about previous concerns. There was enough evidence in those two days alone to at least change Lucy’s shifts or something, not just do nothing. I don’t expect her to have known it was intentional but she had a duty of care to those babies and should have safe guarded them.

As a result of her decision, the next (3rd) day Lucy went on to harm another baby.

So yes, for that particular decision I do think this is more than just a hindsight error and I believe she deserves every criticism aimed at her.

Face not fitting? Aren’t most of the pictures of her on nights out with the staff from the hospital? Every single person she’s texting is a colleague?
Boo hoo, it’s a job not a social club, you don’t go to work to make friends you go to do your fucking job and if you happen to make friendships it’s a bonus.
Maybe her face didn’t fit cos she’s an absolute cunt.

Yuuup, funny how these collapses always happen the minute a parent or other nurse has nipped out. Given one or both of any set of parents spend most of the hours they can beside their newborn baby in the unit..like you say MmmB777, anything natural would have like no timetable to it and would happen whenever. Given the total number of collapses in this case you’d expect to see at least one that happened when a nurse was there or when a doctor was there or when one parent was there. Nope, just Letby.
This is an excellent point you both make, and something that I hadn’t actually considered before. It’s yet again another pattern (oh how they are stacking up), and can’t be yet just another coincidence that it’s only happening pretty much the minute the babies are left alone, (well apart from the murderous LL). It’s points like these that I hope the jury picks up on too, the pencil theory is really this whole case, all these things don’t mean much by themselves, but when you put them all together there’s such a strong case I think

ETA: Also was just having another read of an academic research paper looking into Healthcare Serial Killers again now we are nearing the end of prosecution. Certainly think this is far more damning knowing everything we know now, rather than the beginning of the trial, how many can you spot on this list that we have now seen with LL 🚩🚩🚩🚩

Sorry ETA MORE Interestingly in this article where the author has been researching nurse serial killers this was one finding of hers for the reason of killing patients, and it could certainly fit with the I killed them on purpose because I’m not good enough note 🤔

Todays evidence from doctor B!!! Expressed concerns after baby O and requested that letby shouldn’t be allowed back until child O’s death had been properly investigated!! He was refused wtf. And then she strikes again. Evil evil evil. I think she knew they were closing in on her which is why she ramped up her attacks 😡View attachment 2027283
This is absolutely heartbreaking for so many reasons 💔 I want to string some of these senior execs up myself I’m so angry, I can’t imagine how the families must feel. I know ultimately it’s Lucy responsible but the hospital seriously lacked any safeguarding and duty of care to these babies. They could have prevented Lucy from doing this but they turned a blind eye.

I hope the exec is happy to take responsibility now. Wonder if they already resigned.

this is horrible. I know it’s not a popular opinion but I genuinely feel so sorry for the doctor that’s been pulled in to this by her.
No I actually agree. I feel so sorry for pretty much ALL the staff that worked at the hospital. Not only have they been the ones that have seemed to on trial, they also have to deal with the repercussions of this forever and being associated with this trial and LL. I can’t imagine how they’ve felt realising they were working alongside an evil unknown force, that turned out to be their colleague. I also think that the early babies were partly for attention from colleagues before it was for attention from Noname, and living with that must be horrendous for all of them. I think it’s really important to remember that the only person responsible for murdering these babies is LUCY LETBY herself

Would really suggest everyone that can listens to this weeks podcast, how anyone can think she’s innocent after hearing that and seeing yet the usual repeated patterns is beyond me. She also tries to blame sepsis again yet both babies she suggested this for both did in fact NOT have sepsis. I hate the way she has the explanations for what happened ready. She also texts colleagues again afterwards, even the podcast points out this became the usual thing she did😡😡😡🤢🤢🤢 she’s something else she really is, don’t think there’s adjectives strong enough to describe what a monster she is
