The thing that gets me (of course aside from the appalling deaths and attempted murders) is that we are all so trusting when we have a loved one in hospital, we just put everything in the hands of the professionals and assume they are doing their best - thank god they usually are - but in this tiny 1% case like this it really makes you think about the times you have leaned on the professionals and how vulnerable you are as a patient / parent of a patient etc. When your child is in NICU you have no choice than to put blind faith into those around you. It just makes the details all the more disgusting if true.
I promise most healthcare professionals are aware of this feeling and are there to do their best. They admit to being human and making mistakes, have their patients best interests at heart and ultimately want to do good. It’s horrendous that some people feel entitled to play with and manipulate that trust.

I find it really difficult to follow this case, you know when your brain can't process it?
I struggled to read some of the updates today and the trial has barely started but I do think it will continue being particularly emotive due to the victims being helpless and vulnerable babies and the lengths she allegedly went to kill them. :(

It must be terrible for heath professionals that do the best they can, seeing something like this all over the press. Horrifying for us all but I am sure particularly horrifying for those who do their best for children in their care and seeing someone potentially abuse their position in this way

They will need to look more elaborately at the shift patterns. Lucia De Burke and another one (can't remember her name) were later acquitted as they the statistics didn't take into account they worked lots of overtime so would be present more when people died. The medical examiner's were also accused of being biased as they were looking for deliberate foul play first instead of looking for natural causes. Air and insulin are hard to prove.

This is very true. I used to visit postnatal women at their home. In over 10 years, I was only ever asked to show my work I.D. badge three times (twice by the same person). It just didn't occur to people that I would be any sort of threat. I've been left alone with newborn babies numerous times, by people who are complete strangers to me. My background has been thoroughly checked, but that just proves that I've never been caught doing anything nefarious, it dorsn't prove that I'm not a criminal. It's an imperfect system at the best of times, but something has clearly gone terribly wrong at this hospital. Those poor families, there's no good outcome here really, is there?

I saw that, and found it odd that if your family had been through what she said, you'd join a group where masses of people believe she is innocent.
I take these people with a pinch of salt, some are just desperate for the attention.
Totally agree and no doubt we will get a few fakes on here that make out they know XYZ of the Case that is being portrayed to us all, I was on another thread from the start and was associated with the person for several years through mutual friends, i always kept my gob shut on how I knew certain things until I called someone out on what they were saying on the thread the amount of abuse I got from other accounts questioning myself on this person-s knowledge was unreal🤬. I had to take a break from the thread i even got a warning before the said account was blocked yet again after being blocked for spouting rit under a different account on another thread. It does make you wonder WTF is wrong with society and the general public these days.
In my view the only Innocent one is of all the babies who have passed or have suffered due to whatever has happened and the care they received 💔

I haven’t caught up on posts about this so sorry if I’m miss informed when I first heard of this I honestly thought there must have been a mistake but after hearing day 1 I think she’s guilty I’m still trying to have an opened mind and in some ways I do hope she’s innocent because I don’t want to believe someone could be so evil to kill innocent babies

If I saw things like “in a relationship” and photos of a boyfriend on a profile and the person had so far lied about it then yes I would confront them about what I had found. If he’s being hidden from us then we don’t know enough about him to be around children already considered to be vulnerable. We do the same with any information given to us, it’s professional curiosity.
Reading between the lines I think I work in a similar profession and it's something we're always told is a no go. I guess it just varies depending on the authority.

It's just impossible to compute. Which is why it needs to be dealt with in as detached and forensic manner as possible.

Your natural instinct is to shield those who are tiny and vulnerable so it doesn't make any sense. Poor parents though. I would be a ball of fury at anyone hurting my child

She won't get a payout. Have a read of the Secret Barrister books and you'll see that innocent people have an incredibly high bar to reach before they get anywhere near compensation. She is unlikely to get any of her legal costs paid either if she's acquitted.
If acquitted no doubt her devoted supporters will set up a gofundme to pay the bill.

Depending which way she decides to play it she could go into hiding and start a new life just pleased all the bills are paid off, or she may go down the lucrative sob story side. 'My side of the story' interviews, a book deal, documentary etc.

Reinvent herself as the wronged angelic nurse whose life has been ruined.
Heaven forbid this for the poor families involved.

I mean if she truly is innocent then I don't think I'd begrudge her trying to rebuild her life financially with things like that. What other choice would she have? She's hardly going to be able to work in her profession anymore even if she is acquitted.

Quite she's never going to work as a nurse again even if she's innocent.

When you see the charges listed like and how allegedly persistent she was , consecutive days sometimes & repeat attacks on the same baby, sickening 💔

God help the Jurors trying to make a decision on these charges. My 2 work colleagues both got called for jury duty this week (Scottish sheriff court) and both wrote letters to get out of it.

Can you imagine getting cited for case like this??? Any murder would be bad but wee babies 😢😢😢

Some of these babies were probably tiny as in 1-2lb. They can only handle a few mls at most of milk at a time so more than they could handle possibly?
Yeah my little boy was only 3 weeks early, so classed as early term, by NO WAY premature. There was an issue with cord and he didn't breathe at first abd was in NICU for about 24 hours. He only had a few ml so these babies at COCH will have needed barely anything being premature.

Would too much milk have damaged their stomach?

Also. Has anyone else felt physically sick just at reading today's updates?

My two hear old is poorly today, his fever refused to go down for hours and I thought "I don't want to have to take him to hospital." Like whoever has done this, parents were meant to trust them. :(

Now I've been thinking more, though... seeing everything from today... I'll be keeping am open minded but I'm leaning towards guilty atm :(

What did they mean when they said about milk in the babies . Was she supposed to have pumped to much milk in sorry I'm not sure what it meant
My last baby was born at 25 weeks
She had 1oz an hour after a few weeks as she only weighed 1lb.
When she was weaning off the vent if she had wind she'd stop breathing and the vent would breathe for her. So yes overfilling a prem babies stomach can be fatal.

I had 2 babies in NICU. My eldest daughter at 30 weeks and youngest at 25.
I was also a registered nurse and midwife at the time and had worked in NICU.

This case is horrifying
