Her defense https://www.exchangechambers.co.uk/people/benjamin-myers-kc/

Recently secured a not guilty for murder of shaken baby and David Duckenfield for the Hillsborough disaster. He must cost a fortune wonder whether he's doing it pro bono or legal aid? She's got a good legal team.
Has he always been a defence barrister for these cases or prosecutor too? I’m looking at some of the sexual offences on his list and he’s defended some abhorrent people if so

If a professional ever came to my house having looked on my social media trying to "confront me" 👊👊👊👊👊👊👊👊👊👊👊👊👊👊👊👊 gotta be careful doing stuff like that cause not everyone will roll over and take violations like that just because of your profession.
So if you lied to a social worker who was trying to protect your child, and they found you out via social media, you would then be violent towards them? You sound like a lovely, well rounded person.

Hello, I'm new to this particular topic and trying to catch up. I've just been reading some of today's articles.
I'm an ex nurse. This is so heinous I find it difficult to match the crimes with that gentle looking girl.

It's also quite weird none of the other nurses noticed

It's all sounding damning, but if I recall correctly this is the prosecution. The defence will be interesting.

I guess if it’s in a public forum it’s public information 🤷‍♀️

Looks like he's always been a defence lawyer. Everyone needs defending, no matter what they've done. Must be hard though.

I do really think it's important to get the evidence of guilt as we all have this belief that machines are incapable of making errors, all machines break eventually.

Not similar in any way but I work in finance and often use software and sql servers. Sometimes they corrupt for no apparent reason and imagine if they only had this type of machine in the hospital for x amount of time and they found it malfunctioned after 5 years of service - that could save countless babies lives if the machines were used elsewhere in other hospitals.a

Always so important to hear both sides and a thorough investigation. Lots of lessons to be learnt with either guilty or not guilty.

It absolutely is - people don't realise that anything they post on Facebook is owned by meta, not them. If you don't want social services coming knocking then you only have to not a selfish parent and put your children first. It's not hard. If anyone came to mine and said "we've seen you on Facebook with X and they are a risk" I'd be grateful for the heads up so I could keep my child safe from them. ANYWAY, back to the matter at hand... I feel sick waiting for what will be heard today 😔

Firstly those poor babies and poor families. How absolutely unimaginable.
I did wonder if it was a case of incompetence but it seems hard to accept someone can make so many fatal mistakes so many times. I'm trying to be open minded and waiting to hear all the evidence and facts, but I'm another who was surprised by the details that came out yesterday.
Whatever the outcome I just pray that questions are answered for the families. At this point all they can have is answers and hopefully a little closure on the how at least.

I always wonder as a defense lawyer, if they know they've done the crime, or at least believe they have. I don't know how you can give your best argument knowing their lying.
I totally understand defending people who have plead guilty as everyone deserves a fair trial but to try and get "someone off" who your pretty sure has committed the crime must be so hard to go against all your instincts!

Some of them might know and some might not it’s all lawyer/client privilege

There must have been overwhelming physical/forensic evidence of this and digital evidence too. How on earth did he get this scumbag off?

I studied law at uni, and work as a property lawyer, from what I remember of criminal law you basically don't ask them if they are guilty if you suspect they are.
In the UK the defense lawyers can't lie to the court (i.e. to say "no Lucy did not look them up on Facebook" when she obviously did) so it's a fine art of trying to pick holes and cast doubt without actually saying this didn't happen. Defendants obviously can lie to their layers (and often do) and are entitled to plea as they wish.
It's all a lot more balanced than in the USA.

I remember on Emmerdale (I know its not real lol) and Charity admitted her guilt to her solicitor so they had to stop representing her.

A Social Worker (or any other professional) should not be accessing your social media without telling you or getting your consent first. This should be either by telling you or it being in privacy notice they give you when they start working with you. In my area its considered to be too close to a breach of data protection laws so we are told to never do it but looks like that's not across all councils.
