You lot are fucking nuts, if the fella is innocent you'll be taking her shopping for new shoes for a night out at pop world.

Right character references I think are bollocks in this scenario.
It's not like she took the baby's home to harm, it was all based at work, if she did it.
Not like Jeff Dahmer and the smell of death or Denis Nilesen etc. There's nobody who would suspect that in her personal life their friend would be capable. She seems successful but unremarkable, not someone who your average Joe would profile as a serial killer of babies.
Youre not going to share with ANYONE if you've hurt a baby, let's be honest, nobody is going to say, "well hun, just don't do it again".
She didn't accidentally do it, if she did it, nobody is going to support you through that if you've admitted it. So people will be left with fuck all to give but opinions of her being at worst, bit odd or lonely. She hasn't a history of chaos or violence to my knowledge. Completely nice, ordinary life prior to these accusations.
Nothing has come out to suggest "high functioning psychopath" in her past, her parents I think believe she's innocent.
People who know her all probably believe that, colleagues aside who have more info than us.
So there's literally nothing here for people to say other than generic adjectives, "nice, sweet, weird, fashionista".
I just think there's fuck all really to add to her from witness statements because the baby murderer she may be is hidden deep, nobody knew that side to her, it was all basic, surface level.
Sometimes you find out you know a pweirdo and think, "Oh yeah, he seems "the type" or someone gives you shivers and you find out they are a domestic abuser.
Nobody is thinking, least of all her family or friends, "I reckon our luce well murders babys".

After a long day of wetsuit shopping with her parents for their upcoming trip to Ibiza, Lucy returns home. Dims the lights, slips on her M&S pyjamas and her fluffy slippers, makes herself a hot chocolate with marshmallows as she listens to the finest drill music the UK has to offer.

Those of you who question LL’s involvement with the insulin poisoning, are you doubting that it happened at all? Or just that she did it? Because we know there was insulin poisoning, so if it wasn’t LL (who handled the bag) who was it? Is there another murderer on the loose?

Do you think that’s more likely than it being the one person all the clues point to?

I go and do some work for a few hours and miss all the good fella banter!

I do hope we don't trigger another telling off for 'merailing' the thread for the hard-core who want court details. I'm in agreement with @OldBlondie that sometimes we need a bit of light relief especially when things get tense. And it helps to bring together people who have otherwise been at odds with their opinions. Otherwise we'd just be a group of people spending hours talking about dying babies! And that's not to take away the importance of that. I'm sure wherever we are around the fence we're all agreed that these babies and their families deserve to have their stories heard and for lessons to be learned to prevent whatever has happened from happening again.

That said my humour can be dark and inappropriate, so if at any point a line is crossed feel free to give me a virtual slap round the chops with a Chicago Town.

On a serious note, I’ve worked in places where half the nurses sounded just like the last few pages of this thread.

If your face didn’t fit (I.e. too old, too brown, not clarted in contour and highlights for a night shift) you were ignored, didn’t get your breaks allocated fairly, didn’t get the help you should have with patients.

Nursing can be intense, if you make a mistake, people die. I think a lot of younger women don’t have much of an identity outside work and the culture on some units can be absolutely vicious.

I’m starting to think Letby is guilty, but there is nothing wrong with taking your work seriously, enjoying the company of older colleagues, going on holiday with your parents or wearing horrible tops. Maybe she had a three bedroom house cos she didn’t spend all her wages doing keys in £200 dresses?

I am old and have never fitted in anywhere, I also did waste all my money on clothes and having a good time so I’m not feeling personally attacked. I’ve just worked in some toxic places and feel a bit sad that the thread has slid into similar “let’s pile on the frump”. It doesn’t make you prettier if you say she looks shit.
I totally agree, but the fellas are just having a laugh.

Interesting. I believe this was a big factor with BA too. She would cause the crash and call in the docs etc so she wasn’t necessarily trying to will them on to die as such if that makes sense. I do believe it’s literally the hospital environment that can bring out and bring on this condition for people. Same as for when parents do it to kids, it might be that there was a small incident first of all of genuine illness and then it becomes addictive.

also like Alitt - victims far far less vulnerable than the victims in this case. This is, in my mind, the only reason this case feels as hard as it does.
My SIL is obsessed with going to a&e and taking her child for trivial/made up things, I have caught her in many lies before. I can definitely see how it can spiral and just go on and on.

What I have to keep reminding myself is that it isn’t one verdict of guilty or not guilty it’s an individual verdict for each charge. So I’m trying to stop thinking about my overall opinion. There are 22 charges - the jury only need to find her guilty of 1 and she will be serving a life sentence

Anyone would think the rest of the nhs is fully funded, fully staffed with optimal care at all times and it’s just Chester that’s the anomaly for the entire country.
🙌🏼I’d like to add the Nicu I was in they were also short staffed, often the girls would have to work extra shifts and again I never witnessed anything like this, nothing even close. Also are we supposed to believe they were so short staffed that they were absolutely ran off their feet but Lucy managed to text her pals at many given occasion plus leave babies to do as she pleased?

I don’t want to sterotype but I can’t see them dancing the night away in Pacha while LL shakes her booty in her Peacocks sequin vest top
I know this is an extremely serious thread. But I’m pretty sure most on here know some light hearted stuff is ok too (and the reasons why it’s ok). This comment is one of the best things I’ve read on this thread, I cannot stop laughing at this, prob finding it way funnier than I should🤣🤣🤣 honestly I’m dead (no offence meant using the word dead). @raspberryjuice you win the funniest fella award tonight 🤣

Also I will say again...I wouldn't usually rip into someone's dress sense unless they had done something to really irk me...and given I'm in the firm guilty camp, what she's been accused of makes it clear she's not a nice fella! I will eat my words if it comes to light she didn't do any of it! Perhaps it's our light hearted way of dealing with the horror of the accusations!

There’s loads of reasons for air in the body after death, unless the prosecution have something to clearly indicate air embolus then I’m really not sure what the defence need to say, saying something is possibly the cause is a long long way from proving LL deliberately did anything,

3/5 is not quite the case either she’s said to have attempted to murder some of these children on more than one occasion bringing the strike rate implausibly low, the study shows 1 survivor out of like 50, and they were the only one diagnosed at the time of it happening, which obviously increased the chances of survival, 3/5 is still pushing it if you ask me,

And the x ray, are you talking about the one that shows air near the spine? If so as I said there’s plenty of ways we’re being told air can be found in the body post mortem
You are coming across like you purposely want to keep ignoring significant information that is actually quite compelling.

‘Loads of reasons for air in the body after death’. Yes - but the experts have explained how they came to their conclusions. The radiographer has explained the ways in which a line of air found near the spine can occur - none of which are relevant to this baby apart from air embolism. I’m not going to repeat it here because it’s lengthy and all in the reporting/wiki. If there is anything specific from their testimonies you think may cast doubt then I’m happy to hear it but ‘loads of reasons for air’ just doesn’t cut it given the experts have given actual explanations (caveating that with that may change with defence but as it stands there is no other reasonable explanation yet, the only one is air embolus).

It’s been explained on more than one occasion that the study you keep referring to is babies on ventilation (I forget the technical terms that were used). They are not comparable to injecting air in veins. Even Ben Myers didn’t use that study to question the death rate. He was using it to question statistics on skin discolouration.

Re: Lucy's personality I do remember right at the beginning when this was made public a boyfriend of her friend being quoted in the news as saying she was harmless and a bit geeky or awkward?
That's my fella's cousin. He's being harassed daily by the press and wishes he'd never said it!

Sorry I’m not going to feel sorry for Letby because she’s being called a Hun. The general picture is that she’s far too pretty (🤔) to be a serial killer so this is just balance 😂 I mean yay to her for winning the prettiest serial killer award 🏆
If I was going to think I was superior to her in any way, I wouldn’t start with looks and clothes..more that I’ve never been accused of multiple murders of babies 💁🏻‍♀️ None of us here really think the fact Peacocks threw up on her means she’s guilty. It’s a bit of fun.

Big shout out to all you medical fellas on this thread past and present … your knowledge is insane and so helpful to this thread so thanks ❤
This Daily Mail podcast is an interesting listen as it does give lots of little details that haven’t been reported ( nothing of any major significance but bit of stuff )
One poster commented about her not showing any emotion in court and apparently according to the one journo who’s in the crown court listening live with the families and legal teams she has shown nothing at all this first month. Now sorry that’s just bizarre. If that was me even 6 years down the line I would be sobbing so that’s a red flag to me. Also the fact that GMP were advertising for a SIO to work this case for the next two years again makes me feel that they have so much more that we haven’t a clue about. You don’t arrest someone 3 times and then keep them in custody for nearly 2 years on flimsy evidence. we are only one month in with another 5 to go. I dread what’s going to come out for those poor families.
I had to cover a medical negligence case last week for work in court and even though it was only a day it’s utterly exhausting. That poor jury.
I think this as it goes along is going to get very dark and it’s bad enough now.
I am on the guilty fence all day long but I hope I am wrong as it’s unthinkable.
Tbf I don’t think anyone can truly say how they’d react in this situation, it’s so unthinkable. I also think if she was innocent, she’d HAVE to be heavily medicated with anti-anxiety/depressants - so she would be less likely to show emotion.

That would make sense for his opening statement 'this was not her fault'.

I cycle back to the fact WHY would she take it to trial. And the only realistic reason is because she knows she has a good defence and has faith in the justice system. I don't think she seems particularly 'limelight-ish' to be reliving crimes or anything. She just doesn't seem to fit a murderous profile? I think most of us, when pushed, could probably kill someone if we HAD to. But to kill someone with no reason? Takes a different level kind of person. And to kill BABIES?? Takes another whole level.

Urgh it baffles my brain so much.
It’s common for guilty murderers to take it to trial, particularly those who are psychopathic and feed on the misery of others. Look at Aaron Campbell, 16 year old who lifted 6 year old Alesha MacPhail from her bed, raped and murdered her. He took it to trial, pled not guilty, completely relished in the agony of her family. Then confessed everything to his court-appointed psychiatrist.

Ian Huntley plead not guilty… Beverley Allitt, Roy Whiting, Harold Shipman all plead not guilty. Pleading guilty shows accountability, remorse.

They just throw their hat in for not guilty and hope for the best.
