She mentioned yesterday (I think it was yesterday?) that she is losing weight as she's not eligible for NHS fertility treatment or private
She could join slimming world or weight watchers? Yes it’s £5 a week but she isn’t skint. She should also invest in healthy food instead of the coop 5 for £5 meal deal.

As for Thrifty Clair, she’s awful. Never understood how her husband eats so little. That’s why your food stretches because you’ve got tiny portions!

On the whole I do enjoy following Lisa but I could do without seeing the dog all the time 🙃
The dog is the only reason I follow now, other than that she’s unbearable 😂

Glad I’m not the only one who thinks that about Clair and her teeny portions of food.

Must be nice to be able to increase your mortgage overpayment to £500 a month in the middle of a pandemic.

I appreciate be finances are very individual but I also follow lots of people who are struggling to put food on the table right now. Just makes me feel a bit ugh.

Me too! Even if she can/ is doing it, she should do it in silence. She doesn’t even work and that’s what pisses me off the most. I have two full time jobs and I can’t do that

Totally agree. When you see her being all "mindful" about her day and just doing the odd bit of work it really grates to read that on a "thrifty" account when there are people slogging their guts out right now - and juggling it with home-schooling kids - and are struggling to find enough to make ends me. Really misjudging her audience and sticking two fingers up to them whilst she's at it in my opinion!

The bragging is nauseating. She’s similar to Emma Drew, who was boasting about her mortgage overpayments recently too. Has she ever done a breakdown of what percentage of her outgoings are paid for by her wife?

Absolutely similar to Emma Drew in that during the pandemic they could have both done some good by actually giving frugal advice when people need it the most. Instead, they've both been completely tone deaf with Emma bragging about everything she's buying and Lisa bragging about her savings. It's gross.

Hi, Lisa! Nice to have you reading here - thanks for the breakdown of how you got to £500/month mortgage overpayment. Please can we have a split of your household finances between you and Steph? Thanks!

I cannot stand Clair. She’s so unbelievably smug that she makes braggy Lisa look humble. I hate the photos she posts of her struggle meals. The portions are tiny. She’s always boasting about how she stretches two sausages and half a carrot to make six meals. Her husband works in fitness, I don’t see how he can survive on those meagre rations.
I never knew he worked in fitness, what does he do? You're right about it not seeming like a lot if he is active

I don't know much about her, but have seen her Instagram. She has appalling fashion sense. She dresses about 25 years older than she is! 😳

Also: ...isn’t that how most people are? I don’t have everything in duplicate or triplicate? Girl needs help with her hoarding tendencies.

Lisa needs a counsellor to tell her that she needs to exercise if she wants to lose weight/get healthy? 😳

Also, what does she mean that some days she's walked her dog? Her dog should be walked every single day. For more than half an hour. Unless she leaves walking the dog to her wife, who actually works. 🤔

Definitely. Otherwise why would she making such a big song and dance about it being her exercise!
It upsets me waaaay more than it should for two reasons:
1. It's so cruel to get a dog knowing that you're a sedentary person and won't want to exercise your dog. In my eyes, it's a form of animal abuse. Dogs need exercise every single day - it's simply not optional! Dachshunds are actually high energy dogs and require at least an hour of exercise a day.
2. I'm plus size and I hate the narrative that overweight people are inherently lazy. So it does my head in when living thrifty, Emma Drew, Sofie Hagen, Callie Thorpe, etc. just validate all of the negative stereotypes that people have about large people.

7th year at uni, receiving a loan and thousands in savings. Oh boo hoo Lisa. Perhaps go and get a job instead if of being a long terms student living of your wife!

Did you see the post about Steph wanting to be a stay at home mum when they have kids? Lisa will have the shock of her life having to work full time for once.

I really used to like her account. It was relatable and she seemed to come from an actual frugal background with her upbringing etc. But recently, I’ve been finding myself clicking through her stories or not engaging at all, and it’s for all the reasons that have been listed in this thread.

I get that influencers want to be seen as authentic and open / honest about their financial situation when their focus is money / debt busting / personal finance, but I 100% agree that it’s a “read the room” situation with Lisa recently. Most people in FT education with home owner status just do not have 20K+ in the bank so it is in poor taste to be divulging numbers at this particular juncture. A lot of people (her followers included) will have been so badly impacted by covid they couldn’t dream of wasting money the way she does.

I dunno, I feel conflicted. She seems like a nice person whose heart is in the right place but argh.. it’s frustrating. She’s very very very lucky (financially) and she should acknowledge her privilege more, I think.

Edit: on the career side of things, I’m certain she’s said before the plan is to be a lecturer at university.
