Interesting. As another poster said, does being a 'port" city have an influence? More drugs?

As I said, we live adjacent to, but not in Merseyside, (and I'm actually from the SW), but if you'd asked me 10 years ago what I associated with Liverpool I would probably have said 'burnt out cars' but now that I know it better I appreciate it's charm, beauty, and amazing culture. Also, scousers are bloody ace ( but brutal ).

Yeah bit tone deaf to coat off a city something horrible’s just happened in.

Even texted my boss (we don’t massively get in) to check him and his lad were ok. Thankfully they are.

All of the crowd who were victims of this were quite rightly trying to stop the car and defend themselves - the fact one man has been their pinpoint focus, and so swiftly arrested and details of which promptly released, is unsurprising, ie so they could conveniently release the detail of a "white British man" being arrested.

I’ve just seen a clip from before he drove into loads of people. He was trying to drive while the crowds were dispersing around his car, some people banged on the windows and he reverses into a guy in a light colour jumper. He then chases after the car and someone smashes the rear window in.
Whether the driver was on something it looks like road rage, not sure what his defence for it could be.

I don’t think it’s relevant or helpful to come onto a post about a big incident that has just happened, where there are deaths and speculation around terror, not give a passing thought or comment to any of the victims, or even speculate about the perp and just call the people of Liverpool rum.

I don't really understand how it relates to what I said? If the other person (not driver) was arrested as he had a weapon then that's also his own fault. Obviously might not be the case. But if he did all it would take possibly is someone jumping Infront of him whilst attacking the care and they get injured from his weapon. I'd think it would be likely he wasn't listening to police due to all going on so can see how it escalated

How and why are people turning this into a Liverpool city bashing thread? Honestly. Some people went out to watch their teams trophy parade today and ended up under a bleeping car. I was there with my two very young children and to think we were 5 mins from being caught up in this absolutely shakes me to the core. It’s nothing to do with the city, the crime rates. It could have happened to anyone and anywhere. Seriously, those taking it as a chance to have a swipe at the city - have a day off 🥱

And do you know what, not to correct you (I ain't after a fight ) but those people that were 'straight onto him' quite possibly were from anywhere as opposed to being local fans.

We were stood at the bottom of Water St until 5.45pm next to a bunch of blokes from Slough, and a lovely lady with a young baby in a pram from bloody Yemen!! I mean tbf the blokes from Slough were just up for a day-trip (the lady from Yemen wasn't on a jolly...she's lived here for 18 months lol), but all were absolutely lovely, really enjoying the day. We were surrounded by many locals, but loads of people who had come from all over.

I'd hope that any able-bodied person on the street would have jumped in to stop that car if they could. Scouser or not.
