Thank you! He’s an absolute angel - it really meant a lot to me when he said that 🤍 I’ve not tried on any yet except for once when I went with his mum to find out my ring size hahaha but I will as haven’t ever tried on oval cuts which I definitely think is my preference!

Always the way isn’t it! The people who have the biggest opinions are ones it goes bits up for!!!
I’m in no rush and it doesn’t really bother me right now thankfully (even though i am impatient) because we’ve always spoken about it and I know things like covid playing a part of it when he moved up north to be with me and then his job offer was cancelled etc that that kind of pushed it back. And he calls himself my husband or me mrs (surname) as a joke etc, we’re basically like a married couple already hahahah. So it’s all calm, I can’t wait for it to finally happen though 🥰😂

That’s my thinking, I think i’ve got long but fatter fingers where the ring would sit so think it would flatter more!! Plus I think oval feels a little different to a lot of rings I see.

Mejuri do engagement rings and there’s a gorgeous ring on there which I love the uniqueness of, I’ll attach a picture but the screenshot seems to dim the actual colour of the peachy morginate. Part of me would love sometbing like this and I really like gold jewelry as I think I suit it but I’m undecided as whether I’d want a gold band. But I love the second pic but then I just don’t know part of me is like is gold kind of old feeling idk 😂
Have you seen chupi? Look up their rings 😍

That is gorgeous. Is the central stone a princess cut diamond?
I like the square shape. Unusual.
Yes good eye, it’s a Princess cut, cluster ring. He saw one with colored stones and asked the jeweler to make one as an engagement ring.

I won't put a picture of mine as it's an antique and very unique but it's yellow gold (which I wanted, I personally don't like white gold) with a central diamond, typical Edwardian with detailing on the setting similar to these:

All one colour though.

I've also since getting married inherited my great Aunts Edwardian engagement ring which is two toned and is so beautiful, it's too big for me though and as I don't have any spare fingers to wear it on I'm just keeping hold of it.

Recommend looking at Jessica Flinn for rings like the one on the left!

All the rings are so beautiful. When we got engaged I was 26 have been together since I was 20, ring is 3 stones on platinum band but very understated as stones are set down into band with like a shaped collar on either side as it did want one that caught on everything, it was custom made by local jeweller who also made wedding band and eternity ring. I’m in early 40’s so all have increased in value and are on house insurance. I often get compliments on it all these years later. I could have gotten a much more impressive looking ring for a lot less £££ but I love my ring. Wedding band has 5 small diamonds set into it and eternity ring has 7 so I think it’s too much all on one finger so I wear eternity on my right hand.

On a side note 2 worst reactions to engagement rings I have seen were a colleague got engaged and another colleague (male!) had in in his hand checking the weight!! 😳 when we got engaged my cousin who is a trained jeweller inspected my ring intently I felt it was being valued she then didn’t say anything when it was handed back, I do know she hated her own ring that the now ex had chosen for her 🤣

Yikes, these are so awkward!!

Ive had to send my ring away for repairs recently and the amount of people who notice instantly that I’m not wearing it is bordering on creepy.. I mean I love my ring but it’s ‘dainty’ and I take no notice of whether or not other people are wearing their rings so what’s that all about 😅

I’m glad this thread has been revived!

ive had a bit of an issue with my engagement ring. Since I was given it at the start of July, it’s become really discoloured- I didn’t realise how much until we went ring shopping/to send it away to be resized earlier on today. It’s so yellow!

its 18k white gold. I know that white gold discolours, but 10 weeks seems such a short time for it to have become so yellow… is this normal for rings to discolour so quickly? And is there anything I can do to stop it discolouring again so quickly?

I take it off for all cleaning, and when using hand sanitizer until it’s dried.. and I wash my hands as soon as I can after using it. Same for moisturiser. The only thing it ever really gets on it is hand soap. This seems to wrong for a ring than cost a fair amount!
Update: after a lot of toing and froing, I had it resized, and it came back replayed but then I discovered it was cracked…. So, I had it exchanged for a platinum one with a slightly bigger diamond. We picked it up today,… I was fully prepared to never wear my engagement ring again, but I am so so in love with it all over again. My new one is the same design, just slightly larger. So happy

This is mine. It's nothing fancy but I absolute love it. I was 18 when my now husband proposed and he was also 18 and on an extremely low apprenticeship wage. This cost him a whole weeks wage almost 20 years ago.

It's really pretty. Is the central stone an amethyst or maybe a fancy sapphire?
