Agree @Denise0211 @Rina Valtellina šŸ˜¬ KyLie is terribly pretentious and arrogant and has tickets on herself. As always, she is tone deaf to serious issues that donā€™t impact her own total self-involvementšŸ™„

Regarding the Grande Bellezza, I live in Rome but you donā€™t have to live there to understand or appreciate the film. I love the way KyLie says she doesnā€™t know if she should write about it as most people wonā€™t be able to relate to it (except exceptional people like her) but it actually ended up winning an Oscar for the Best Foreign Language film at the Academy awards, the following year. So obviously a lot of aloe non-Italian people that hadnā€™t been to the parties and were not upper class Romans etc could relate to it and see its brilliance (apart from her)šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

Kylie: ā€œI think to an extent, people who are critical of all the filmā€™s crazy dance-till-dawn parties and meaningless sex between people with too much time, botox and money, like to criticize it....as it unnerves others to think that theyā€™ve lived in Rome for years and spend every night watching La Iene, going to bed at a reasonable hour and never receiving a single invitation to one of these exclusive orgies of art and hedonyā€œ (unlike KYLie herself)
I couldn't be bothered to read anything she has written at this stage but the things quoted here are just ridiculous. The whole Grande Belleza thing...I lived in Rome for years and, while I did like the film, I could not identify with it at all as it was nothing like the Rome I lived in or the people I socialised with. Not everyone's (most people's) experience of Rome/italy/anywhere else is upper class parties and the money to not have to work. Also her comments about the whole "prostituta" thing, the orgies etc... very much not the "I don't sleep around" image she now portrays.
And more generally speaking, how could anyone ever say you cannot appreciate a film if you haven't had the lived experience?! personally I generally watch films/tv that aren't similar to my life as that is more interesting. ugh she is insufferable

I don't think any of the drivel she has put out in her 'work' impacts on her as she will brush it off as click bait to her followers. I heard her say as much (where ?) giving advice about making money vlogging. This will be the excuse to Guido & family for her former flaunting self. Whether he believes it or not, who knows?
Well, all will be forgotten on Friday/Saturday when she posts the new reno video which already makes them swoon...plus they get Guido back and the image of the traditional and happy couple returns. Most of her fans have the memory of a gnat.

clearly been reading here (what a non surprise) she acts as if she has millions of followers who will be visiting tiny italian towns en masse based on her recommendation :ROFLMAO:
Exactly. Her self importance is mind blowing! Most tourists do not rent cars anyway, and besides, why not help tourism in a time when it's been lacking?

ETA: Is this her excuse for not doing the Tuscany series?šŸ˜‚

Sorry, just thinking....which property is this, then? Have they taken on restoring for someone else? I'm a bit confused, esp as she bought items for it, or it seemed from the preview clip.

ā€œUnless itā€™s a trattoria or a coffee bar, other small businesses donā€™t seem to surviveā€¦ā€ then why not name the town and help them out with ā€œmass tourism of thousands descendingā€.

In fact, she DOES name the towns she visits, she just doesnā€™t talk about anything but herself when she travels, which is rarely, now that she has changed her career from ā€œescortā€ to country housewife.

Where did she get the notion that she can change history, the economy, mass travel patterns ? Whatā€™s she doing running an inconsequential vlog if she can do that; she should become President of Italy, Finance Minister, at least head of the Italian Tourism Bureau.

Maybe she should first finish her chicken coop and pigsty renos (or knock downs) to accommodate the massive influx of travellers needing a place to stay.

exactly, if I were her I would be looking to get
paid content from the Italian tourist board or something to support the country I claim to love, i know other youtubers with similar followings who have, yet she seems just fine ripping off her fans. compare her content to nicki positano who is constantly promoting small local businesses who are facing a really difficult time

Also, this thing she has against "tourists" is really annoying. Whether she likes it ir not, when she visits a new place....say, Portofino or the Dolomites, she is still a tourist herself.

It isn't as if the masses are coming off a cruise ship to visit these little Tuscan towns for 6 hours. She's so odd.

This is definitely an attempt at rebranding her image when she talks about ā€œmoral imperativeā€ and is a rewrite of her history of self obsession when she talks about her concern about ā€œthe troubling wine and olive oil industryā€, her ā€œinterview with 82 year old Egistoā€ and her ā€œlectureā€ on Italian cinema as it relates to the islands of Sicily.

Now, in her bid for sainthood, she adds her concern for both the poverty caused by lack of tourism in a pandemic, coupled with her concern about too much tourism !

The only thread that runs consistently through all her vlogs is the undeniable self delusion that propels her and which she desperately hopes gullible viewers will buy.

After years and years of playing the party girl and escort, she might take a side trip to Assisi to learn a little of humility before she expounds her suddenly discovered insights and previously ignored empathy.

Afterall, sheā€™s only trying to bolster her falling patron numbers; this is not a conversion on the road to the chicken coop.

Looking through the comments, despite prefaced with the usual "love your work/you're so kind" etc, many go on to say there is no reason to hide places struggling for tourism, many are armchair viewers and can't go anyway, etc etc. Thankfully even her 'fans' seem confused by the post.

Great topic @Alessandro šŸ§šŸ˜… where to start šŸ¤”šŸ˜– . For sure KF is finding new places to put tickets on herself : assuming a wall of tourists will turn up just because she took a filtered photo of herself there , for the ones who do, it will end in anti climax. First of all, more often than not, she filmed places that are beautiful but either private, tricky to get to or top dollar locations underpinned with the attitude look at this, ner- ner- ne- ner-ner you can look at me there but you canā€™t go there. Other places are not exactly secret just not somewhere you would go unless you extend the length of your stay more than a few days Stromboli,Trento, Oltrano, Trastevere (ner ner) . I add Oltrano and Trastevere because they are not difficult to find or veery secret just because there is so much to see in Florence and Rome she heralds those places like they are fricken Nirvana.
Not too sure Italians spend less on holiday. Certainly not in my experience. My friends from Turin and Milan loved spending up on ceramics and food, anything going from boutique to casual little shops , even buying from beach hawkers in Sicily for whatever they wanted to take home . They, in fact took me to places they loved to go back to year after year to add to their collections . So on that point Kyles debunked agin babow!
Iā€™d venture to say a non-Italian speaking, first time, short trip visitor to Italy would, for the most part, be content with the classic tourist attractions because they are mind blowing and should be visited for a myriad of reasons. Add views, some sparkling sea (or snow) fresh pasta and espresso, flaky pastries, well made leather, threads and again thrills for daysšŸ¤¤ .Throw in a photo in a pretty part of town or village, no harm done and by then tired legs are looking for a wine and good lie down. Hardly looking to exploit the Guidos pencil pine driveway KF šŸ¤‘. Further I believe Frances Mayes was made honorary citizen of Cortona following ā€˜Under the Tuscan Sunā€™. Why does Kylie have to make everything such a pain!
Italy is so rich with charming streets, panorama and activity found no where else you donā€™t have to go to hyper extended lengths the way Kylie does to really have a wonderful time. Countless days I walked out the door with a mission to visit a fresco or a town then get side tracked by something else along the way . So glad I did . My guess is Iā€™m not the only one .
The fact she is weighing in on this topic now šŸ˜– , the woman just loves to get in the ring and take a couple of swings šŸ„Š at whoever is in her sites no? Sheā€™s a šŸ’© stirrer
Iā€™ve always been turned off by people who travel often or endlessly, taking a pious tone to short term travel with an inflated sense of local insight.

I will add with all my heart I hope the crowd numbers can be managed in the future with greater attention to the depth of the experience rather than stampede style stop-offs . Kylieā€™s contribution to this outcome is zilch /zero/ nada unless she is working with or speaks legitimately with her local Tourism Agencies. All of which is possible .

@nostoneunturned Yeah, I think the "Italians spend less" is a tale that got stretched too far. I think Italians just spend differently on holidays than foreigners would. No kitch items or stereotypical souveniers (like a lemon printed apron in Amalfi or pinocchio marionettes or even gigantic sized 15 euro gelato etc etc). Kylie, thinking to be oh so superior, is throwing it out bc she probably heard it here or there. A pious tone is exactly what she has!

The point is, this girl has no capacity, whatsoever, to present Italy as it is; she just looks for ways to get attention. She has no curiosity and no ability to be real; just reviewing her history in Italy and what does she really bring, what opportunities has she overlooked and squandered in all the time she has been there, preening in front of the camera, talking to token subjects where she speaks over them more often than actually listening to them. She is a disaster and the last person who would know how to navigate an inspiring, yet real portrayal of Italy. Sheā€™s fun to watch simply to see how far she will go in her delusional fantasy to scrape up viewers. Just seeing her last video and reading her articles that others here have provided, shows how completely ignorant and out of touch she is. Sorry, I think itā€™s too late for her to reform now, albeit her many viewers(if they are even real) may be captivated by her illusions. The most I would expect is just another false version of herself.

unless you extend the length of your stay more than a few days Stromboli,Trento, Oltrano, Trastevere
Trastevere is part of Rome and a very vibrant part, once one realizes it is ā€œacross the riverā€.

Not too sure Italians spend less on holiday. Certainly not in my experience.
From what Iā€™ve seen and heard, Italians will ā€œcut back on foodā€ to afford their summer on the beaches, which, contrary to many countries, are privately owned and charge a fee.

I went out of my way to find and buy a lemon table cover; the most stereotypical and kitchsy I could find for a friendā€™s new apartment. Trouble is, she has a condition which gives her headaches when viewing such bright and colourful patterns !

Oh the moral dilemma, the burden of responsibility, no wonder Saint Kyles can't get a good night's sleep.

Classic narcissist trait, posing a question as a guise to boast, again, about herself. Also flattering her fans to keep them on board. "We're not like the rest" mentality coming from someone who for years has photographed herself in front of beautiful landscapes, buildings etc. It's also such a rambling mess, does she even read over what she writes before she posts?

"Then I read a letter from someone in a hospital bed..."

I said exactly the same thing, yesterday, in a discussion about her posting; does she read what she writes ? If she did the barest of editing, she would realize sheā€™s lamenting about both too many tourists ā€œdescendingā€ and not enough. Sheā€™s unhinged. As a narcissist exposed, watch for lashing out and blaming, that no one understands how superior she is; maybe her very next video.

Do you know what is pathetic? She throws out the "And then someone wrote me from hospital..." for good measure anytime she needs to remind the masses how Saintly she is. She has mentioned it in some videos, she's replied to comments as such, and now IG. Anyone else recall her rant-reply to the person suggesting 2020 wasn't a Year of Joy for most Italians, and Kylie had the balls to say covid patients were writing her from their hospital beds thanking her?! Mah!

An irksome strategy of debate, she may as well say Iā€™m so worried about someone Iā€™ve never met it a hospital bed on the other side of the world , I donā€™t sleep , best I can do is go and film myself and my lifestyle ā€¦what?

Ooh yeah, that and the one about helping suicidal teenagers  .

I seem to have missed her lecture on neorealist cinema but if it was anything like the one she did on contemporary art a month or so ago I should count myself lucky
