That reminds me - kneecap where meant to play at a Cornwall live festival but an Israeli Irish doctor complained he was going to pull his sponsorship for the Cornwall air ambulance if they didn’t drop kneecap. Personally Cromwell Hospital should drop this paediatrician that treats children yet wants Palestinian children unalived.

I thought the Israeli embassy in Ireland was closed?
so it has
I saw a photo of it being open a few weeks ago as doing a bit of spying on a doctor who works for a hospital in London he knows the Israeli ambassador personally so he says with his arm around her.

I know this is more of a rave thread now, but I’m hoping that this is a safe space to ask lol

does anyone think it’s a bit icky to be asking the fans to fund Mo Charas legal fees?
No, I don’t.
I totally get why it would feel a little icky but they have donated festival fees to MFS (doctors without borders) and raised money for aid in Gaza. I have no doubt that any money not used will go to supporting the people of Palestine.

Yes they’ve raised loads of money and awareness half the reason I love them. But I’m sure they’ve plenty of money themselves.

I think GFMs in general are icky but Jesus they’re not struggling artists they’re selling out worldwide (and the ticket price has almost doubled in the last year)

I just can't get worked up about the GFM. If people want to donate to support Liam then let them carry on. Many will probably want to show support as they agree with free Palestine/a unified Ireland so will donate because they agree with what Kneecap speak up about. Have you seen his legal team? That won't be cheap. As well as the donations already mentioned above they also gave away the £14k arts grant damages pay out to two charities. I love what they have to say, love their music and love what they stand for, I can quite easily see why people would want to support a GFM whether the lads have plenty of money or not. I do TOTALLY get where you're coming from as GFM has definitely been tainted by all the grifters but in this instance I don't mind it too much

Agree with all of this. Also I guess it's kind of a test case for the arts / free speech in general so they may as well lean into that and drum up what support they can.

I am not sure they are at the stage of making big bucks just yet. Their gigs are selling out but it’s not huge, huge venues, costs of putting on shows, and they have been pulled from a number of festivals. BBC have taken them off airplay.

What a huge waste of money, immoral, unethical … because the government didn’t like words.

Lammy has received over £100,000 in funds from Israeli lobbyists so he's a more than a little comprised.

Really wish things like that weren't allowed to occur especially when it means a real-life humanitarian crisis is being shown unfolding daily and we just get lots of hand wringing instead of action 🙄

agree with BIB completely.

they’ve sold out arenas now haven’t they? O2 etc. can’t really think of much bigger unless you’re thinking of like Wembley Stadium etc. the tickets I got to see them in Kentish Town London last year were £60ish for two and the ones this year in Ovo Wembley were £115.

I do think I’m in the minority disliking the GFM, I wouldn’t dare say it on their reddit thread 🤣🤣🤣 but I just think they’ve enough - and plenty don’t. And it’s their predominantly working class fans paying their very expensive legal bills while they’re off on holidays etc.

I will be at Westminster in August and I’ll always support the lads just really disagree with the GFM.

I would be interested to know what their plan is for any leftover money from the GFM 🤷‍♀️ I'm sure the legal fees are high but I reckon they're getting a good discount on them too given the profile of the case

I'm sure the standard answer is that they will just donate but personally I'm not that trusting with any celebrity that is profiting off of these sorts of situations - you can be spreading valuable messages and still be a bad person

If the lads feel the same they can always revert to the native tongue 😂
I’m getting kneecap fatigue too. Which is a shame because I love their music and always really liked them.

Maybe I’m just hating everyone at the minute, certainly feels like it 🤣🤣
