It has absolutely nothing to do with Rangers/Rangers fans and the display yesterday was nothing to do with Palestine or Kneecap.

I did also see stuff yesterday about Celtic fans being told to take their flags down, while the flag of Israel was permitted on the Rangers side. Which does feed into what this thread is all about (ie Kneecap being smeared and branded as 'terrorist supporters' in an attempt to suppress their vocal support for Palestine and their calls for an end to the genocide).

I’ve seen right through Kneecap’s intentions for some time now and am happy their true colours are (finally) being exposed. Many on the left were dressing their act up as a bit of craic and turning the negatively of the Troubles on its head. But really, their act is tribalistic, baiting of the Unionist community in Northern Ireland and using the same language/provocations that the IRA would’ve used.

No issue with them having an opinion on the Israel/Palestine situation (I disagree with what they say, but it is free speech after all). However, their support for Hamas and Hezbollah deserves to be called out, while some of the footage of them encouraging the murder of British MPs is a disgrace. Somehow, their wee cult following of simpletons see nothing wrong in their violent rhetoric.

I don’t see them baiting the unionist community at all. I actually think they always come across balanced in interviews - they supported the youth clubs on both sides, and even had young Spencer (a proud unionist) support them at their Belfast gigs. They constantly speak about how much both sides actually have in common with each other.

They’ve always been very vocal about not having an issue with people identifying as British in NI, but having one with British rule / the govt.

More of a Bob Vylan thing but it’s so interesting to me that chanting for death of the military (which I would interpret as a change in the military rather than individual death of all those serving in it) is so controversial

I have seen people arguing that they don’t wish for death in any war when they wish for peace and it’s such a disconnect from the reality of war that isn’t coming to a peaceful solution - be it Ukraine/Russia or Israel/Palestine. Even when we call for a downfall of a political regime in some oppressive country we are ultimately calling for something that will likely result in violence and deaths against the regime

I don’t know, it’s very interesting that messaging on peace or resistance has to ignore the realities of war or oppression for people to be comfortable with it

Not just for kneecap, for any person in the north who wants to see a UI. Should we not work, not participate in society, not pay taxes, not abide by UK law, not seek opportunity of any kind as that’s ‘hypocritical’ because of our position on the constitutional future?

IMO, there’s a big difference between advocating for constitutional change and what Kneecap are doing. Glorifying violence, chanting ‘up Hamas,’ 'up Hezbollah', mocking victims of terrorism, calling for more politicians to be murdered... that’s not principled nationalism, that’s performative provocation. I know plenty of people who would like a UI that would never behave or speak like they do.

My point isn’t that anyone with a different constitutional vision shouldn’t participate in society. It’s that Kneecap, in particular, profit from the very system they claim to despise, while making a brand out of hostility. It’s not about opposing British rule; it’s about profiting off the UK while publicly ridiculing it with venom and bile. That’s the hypocrisy.

I’ll not say which part of west central Scotland I hail from but I assure you, it’s the same there. I’m convinced these are the types of people who believe the Pope is a Celtic supporter and the King is a Rangers supporter. It’s embarrassing. I’m so glad to have moved away from it.
