I know this is more of a rave thread now, but I’m hoping that this is a safe space to ask lol

does anyone think it’s a bit icky to be asking the fans to fund Mo Charas legal fees?
No, I don’t.
I totally get why it would feel a little icky but they have donated festival fees to MFS (doctors without borders) and raised money for aid in Gaza. I have no doubt that any money not used will go to supporting the people of Palestine.

I want awareness raised, I want the message shared, what I don’t like with many is the shouty & aggression that comes with it.

Donate & share when I’m able, but seems to be attracting a lot of people who are out there more for the anti establishment fight aspect than the cause. To be seen rather than solidarity.

Think you can also support, without using it as a form of content. What I mean by that many have been aware & supportive of the situation in Palestine for years.

Now we have content creators jumping on for the algorithm.
One post shared with words of horror, then straight on to their meals out, holidays snaps, clothes hauls & BA crap.
It’s turning into a mental illness for some, just a bandwagon for others and another terror threat that we can do without…The true solidarity campaigners are being lost amongst it all..Good luck to those that think the British establishment have found a conscience 😂

So this is what confuses me, if you understand that the recent carry on is performative provocation then what’s all the drama about? The words (in particular around murdering MPs) was clearly not meant to be taken seriously, so couldn’t it be said the pearl clutching outrage is performative and part of the reason for that- is their unwavering stance on Palestine and lack of fear in calling out Israel. And perhaps less so, but still relevant, how outspoken they are about a UI?
As they have said themselves there is more outrage and news headlines this week about the words of a few fellas on stage than actual genocidal actions. It baffles me.

Again, they don’t have an option? What’s the alternative? We are under UK rule, we have no choice but to participate in the system unless we leave NI and why should we do that?
Why shouldn’t they make money? Why shouldn’t they profit? Why shouldn’t they be successful, whilst still being able to criticise. By your logic, anyone opposed to a labour government and voted Tory shouldn’t be able to profit then? It doesn’t make sense.
That’s not hypocrisy, that’s just the reality. People have to live and eat 🤷🏼‍♀️ it’s such a weird take!
You keep generalising this as if the critique is aimed at everyone in the North who wants a United Ireland. It’s not. It’s about Kneecap’s specific brand of edgelord activism- invoking terrorist groups, chanting about murdering MPs, then crying ‘context!’ when backlash comes. That’s not brave political commentary; it’s just juvenile theatre designed to provoke headlines.

Sure, people have to live and eat, but most don’t build a career on gleefully antagonising the very system they’re feeding from. There’s a clear line between criticising a system and trolling it for clout, then acting aggrieved when called out. That’s the hypocrisy I’m talking about.

It’s not a weird take, it’s just one you clearly don’t agree with. And that’s fine, we’re obviously not going to see eye to eye on this.

Very few public figures talking about it? Are you sure?
on my social media it’s a bombardment of death statistics, images of death and reports of bombings. I don’t think they’re the only ones talking about it - I actually think between rolling, 24hr News and constant sharing of information and misinformation on social media, people are becoming desensitised to it. When I say it, I mean atrocities in general; Israel/Palestine conflict, Russia/Ukraine war included.
A lot of celebrities haven't really made it part of their image outside of simple IG infographics or occasional statements

A lot of social media that you see is going to be generated by (a) your friends, (b) random people that pop up, (c) influencers - not your more traditional celebrities

So when a more traditional celebrity makes it a big part of their "brand" it is notable.

Granted, I don't care enough to be arguing or getting outraged over whatever they have done that has been controversial every other week. It's actually sort of surprising the number of people who have absolutely lost their heads over the MP comments - yes it's several steps too far but also in most cases I don't think anyone would really care. I think the cultural background to the group and their support of Palestine is what is compounding it and I sort of understand why they seem to want to point that out

I look forward to the mass unpouring of ridicule, investigation & criminal charges that should take place in coming months around paramilitary flags, tribalism in mixed areas, hurty words, illegal bonfires, hate filled songs and contentious parades!

Must bulk order some popcorn 🍿

It’s sort of baffling that some people are acting like they’re literal terrorists

I think it’s a bit difficult because saying waving a flag isn’t outright terrorism seems to be a very hard line and would corrode some social order, but also… I don’t know if waving a flag isn’t that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. I’d be more concerned about actual terrorists planning terrorist attacks - and that includes the emerging far right terrorists too

I posted that, so have a go at me if you're going to have a go at anyone. I brought it up in relation to the sectarian terrorism/non terrorism chat which grew organically from the conversation. But even above that, I do think it's relevant to the thread, given Celtic's connection with Palestine also.
I don't think it's relevant at all to the thread.

The thread is about Kneecap, a band who encouraged people to 'kill a tory' and their support for terrorist organisations.

It has absolutely nothing to do with Rangers/Rangers fans and the display yesterday was nothing to do with Palestine or Kneecap. But if posters wanted to go down that road I was happy to highlight the inconsistencies in what they were saying.

Says the one who tried to bring asylum seekers into the discussion. Scarlet indeed.

I know f*ck all about football (apart from the fact that Rangers are shite 😉) but it’s all relevant and Kneecap themselves posted about Rangers so 🤷🏼‍♀️
Now, there weren’t even a full page about football. And nothing turned into “rangers v Celtic” other than by that one poster who flounced after being asked a question.

but, the lack of comprehension and being able to understand what is right in front of them is actually quite fitting and in keeping with the tone of half the world at the minute 💔
