My parents started it in September and have lost weight. My mum also said her stomach is much better. I'm thinking of starting doing it in January as the meals they've made me since doing it I've really enjoyed. They also do intermittent fasting with it skipping breakfast

I've been meal prepping the last few days to start keto. Just enjoying one last day of eating what I can 😆

I fell off the wagon, despite feeling a lot better on it but the lure of carbs is strong! However I now have a diagnosis of pre diabetes so am having to commit much more seriously to it. Building up again for that.

I did keto for a year and did well. But it’s so hard to maintain when you work outside. I’ve been on mounjaro for a year now and 3 stone down. Cost the same as it did buying special food for keto!

Might end up starting Thursday now as I was meal prepping and didn't have any almond or coconut flour so used normal which isn't keto? So I had some tonight and I'll finish them tomorrow then start Thursday. Ordered both coconut and almond flour now, hopefully the recipe tastes the same with them as it was yummy

My OH and I have been doing Keto for a week now. First time for me - second for him. (he lost a lot)..
I think I've got that Keto Flu I've read about. Just feel a bit grotty and headachey but I seeing this as a sign something's working.
Food part is going OK - I still find it counterintuitive that high large is good!
I'm finding snacks a bit hard tbh - mainly relying on nuts and cheese.

Good for you! Easter is a hard time to do these things ! I find cold meats are a useful snack also cooked cold turkey or chicken sausages and the old reliable hard boiled eggs!

Hi everyone
I have been considering trying keto for a while after having started a low carb diet.. I have worked slowly to reduce carbs to about 60-80g(ish) a day but think I will look at start working down slowly to 50g then 20g. I have lost a stone over the course of a year doing this but I want to lose another stone. I already have a decent amount of large in my day (it’s usually about 50%) from things like full large cheese, butter and cream, but should this be more for keto? And how does everyone maintain their fibre intake? Sorry for all the questions! Thanks a lot for any answers :)

Hi everyone!
A girl on my tiktok was doing for keto and saw some amazing results! I suffer with PCOS so really struggle with losing wieght, NO MATTER WHAT I DO. I just have to look at a cake, and i've gained the whole bakery on my weight - even with excersizing. And I've had enough.

I am going to eat what's left in the fridge (just some potatoes anyway foe lunch nd my marry me butterbean lasagne for dinner) but then when I go food shopping, that's when I'll start it. It'll give me enough time to look at reciepes but the halloumi and chorizo salad looks GORGEOUS!!

I've been on it for just over two weeks. I had felt a bit ill due to keto flu. And was disheartened as I'd read 'the weight drops off after about 7 days' and it hadn't. Completely unrealistic I know 😂
Anyway today I put on a dress and thought omg it feels really loose. I think I've suddenly lost a fair bit in a couple of days. It felt so good.
I've been fairly rigid with it so was hoping *something* would happen ffs.
I'm not going to weigh or measure myself - just go by how clothes feel.

@Raver_Bear sorry I meant to reply earlier re fibre. I eat quite a lot of keto friendly veg - eg green beans, asparagus, broccoli - and the good thing is you can put butter on them 😂 . There are quite a few options if you Google. Some veg is not advised as has too much sugar eg peas (and others which I've forgotten) but wierdly mangetout are OK. And a lot of salad stuff is fine too.
As a side effect my IBS has been really good. No processed food or wheat I suppose.
So far I'm impressed (after a tricky few days). No other diet has worked so well and the best thing is I'm never that hungry so I don't feel I'm starving myself which of course usually leads to breaking a diet.

I had a dream last night that I was on Keto and really happy and losing weight!

I know it sounds silly but I wonder if it was a premonition or a sign to do it which I am this weekend! 🥰

I’ve downloaded carb manager and already seen so many great reciepes I wanna try!

Goodbye carbs, hello health living 👋

I won't go into too many details but yo yo dieter, chocolate addict, general carb eater now getting on in years (retired).
Gain weight easily, lose slowly unless really restrictive.

Six months ago, felt weight plonking itself in new areas. Had blood test, prediabetes.
I bought one of those cgm monitors to check what's happening when I eat carbs.
Boy was it a shock to see in real time the almost immediate effect carbs have on my body, rising to a disturbing level (for me, still learning about it all.
Just wanted to encourage really, if you can reduce significant carbs then do try as I'm pretty sure it's a cumulative effect building up over the years. Good luck. I now have to stick to keto but feel a lot better emotionally and physically staying away from carbs. Work in progress.

thank you for all of this! It was really useful. I love mangetout so will add those in :) yesterday I made meatballs for dinner and had loads of mushrooms, courgette and spinach on the side.. didn’t even miss pasta. I have slowly made my way down to 50g of carbs a day, and so now looking at lowering that. I went to Nando’s yesterday and was delighted at how much I could eat.. (thanks as well to those who recommended Keto Reddit.. there is loads of info and is what helped me make the best choice at Nando’s!)

My insomnia often drives me to reading entire threads on tattle through the night I normally wouldn’t frequent but I’m glad I found this thread. I did keto a few years ago and had good results but I was also restricting calories with it and found it unsustainable and forgot about it.

However going to give it another go starting next week as I have some not so friendly keto foods left in the fridge. I’ve ordered a keto cookbook I found earlier in the thread (only £1 for a used copy on world of books) and will check out diet doctor which was mentioned a lot but keen for any more sources of recipe inspiration people here are using?

I haven't used a cookbook yet but want to get Michael Moseley's.
Atm I generally just Google if xyz ingredients are keto friendly. But I really want to expand my range. Actual recipes instead of some meat, some veg and an egg. Though last night I had asparagus, a turkey steak, an egg and hollandaise sauce which was lovely.

I have to say so far I've never known a diet like it for results. I'm nearly three weeks in and have been strict but I feel I've lost half a stone at least, maybe more (I don't want to weigh myself just rely on how clothes feel).
I rarely feel hungry. And don't crave carbs.
Though I felt tit about 7 days in for a couple of days. Stupidly tired, queasy, headachey. But that is the ketosis kicking in apparently. Which is good - when your body adjusts to using your large as energy.
It seemed so counterintuitive at first after so many diets of salad, soup and low large (which left me hungry) to eat good portions. But honestly it's really working. I look forward to planning my outfits and getting dressed instead of the usual 'that will do - it fits'.
Good luck everyone doing it too.

I’ve been eating what’s in the fridge/cupboard and limiting my carbs to one time a day. And I’ve noticed a difference in how I feel already.

I don’t feel as hungry quickly and not as sluggish. So I’m excited to properly start it on Monday.

Tomorrow is my last day having carbs- I’m going into town for a coffee, and then maybe treat myself to a takeaway tooo!

First day yesterday. It was better than I thought it would be! I definitely need to make some keto friendly chocolate or large bombs because I really did miss having a sweet treat after my lunch!

I even said no to my housemates chips when she cooked me dinner.

Day 2 - bring it on!

Day 2- round up. I had a donught as after the dentist treat and I didn’t feel guilty about it.

Day 3- I had a team meeting where lots of sweet treats were brought in like donughts etc. I didn’t touch any of it!! I think I’ve got that Keto flu lol feel a bit headachey and tired - even though I got a good amount of hours.

I stupidly have weighed myself every day since Monday and I need to stop as I did feel disheartened when I saw 1lb. But like previous post have said, it can be after 7 days lol

Day 4 AM- I've woken up this morning and weighed myself (even though I said I wouldn't!) . I've lost 2 pounds (3lbs Since Monday) I do feel like I've definitely got the keto flu but I'm going to power through because I feel like I'm doing something right. I definitely do feel less bloated, have less sugar crash outs. I do feel like I'm starving in parts, but I think thats normal.
