I’ve did Keto in 2020 just before lockdown and did it for 4 months and lost 42lb and felt great
Unfortunately due to stress with looking after my elderly mum ( who passed away a year ago ) I managed to put most of it back on
Started again Tuesday already 2.5 lbs down. My tips are don’t weigh every day or even every week after 1st couple as your body is healing and once it’s done that the weight will fly off. I do IF once the first week or so has passed . Also at the beginning try to eat clean and not have too many substitutes.
I find weighing every day works better for me. If I weigh weekly I expect a bigger drop then daily so get disheartened. I do agree though , with keto take body measurements as they give a better picture than weight. Good luck. You have done it once so can again. I am so sorry about your Mum x

Ooh yes. I weigh myself every morning and tend to go by my Fitbit's average weight calculation for the week, which I get on a Sunday. I know people say you shouldn't weight yourself every day but personally I prefer doing it that way as the average smooths out any daily fluctuations.
Sounds good we can keep each other on track !!

You can absolutely lose weight by eating 'normal' amount of calories. And make those calories count by having nutrient rich foods. I easily lost a huge chunk of weight by eating way over 2000 cals daily which is why I always chuckle at the preachers who say you have to restrict to lose weight.

Guys,

haven’t been on this thread in a while but just wanted to issue a warning: don’t buy anything from the Keto and Low carb bakery!
If you go on Instagram, search theketoandlowcarbfakery account, they post photos of orders being received with mould on! 🤢🤢🤢🤢.

I was so close to ordering as their site looked so nice! But the photos they use isn’t even their goods. Total scammers

Hey everyone. Been lurking in the thread and finally ready to tackle going keto. Wanted to ask what your fav brand of cauliflower rice is? I'm not a big fan of rice in general actually but thinking the cauliflower rice may be a nice accompaniment to the chicken dishes I have planned.
Also favourite pasta substitutions? Wary of asking as I really don't want zucchini noodles or anything like that but just in case someone has something that's similar to pasta and low carb!
I use spinach as a base for my meals, just wilt in microwave is is filling and has a good fibre content. I have been doing Ketogenic for over 5 years it is tough at times but the best way of eating I have found. Coconut oil is brilliant for keeping cravings at bay good luck

First day done!
had a spinach And bacon frittata for breakfast, a cheese string and a pepperoni for lunch and then for dinner I had takeout from a burrito bar (boyfriend submitted his dissertation!)... chorizo, chicken, lettuce and queso 😋😋

literally all my favourite foods and I feel so FULL. also drinking loads more water... I usually drink 2l minimum but today I’ve had 3.5l already 😳 I have also just developed a headache so going to up my salt tomorrow!

Anyone made anything nice recently? I’m at that point where I’m getting a bit bored, I want a Chinese and a slab of dairy milk 🤤 In need of some inspiration.

On day three and I am feeling so snackish. I have been adding more fats to my meals but I still feel the urge to gorge on cookies and sweets and all those carb things!
did anyone else struggle with this in their first few days/weeks? I’ve planned out my day macro wise and by the end of the day I will be over by 200 calories because I just smacked - still only 16g of carbs though.
I’m hoping things will calm down next week and I can start cutting down on calories (I want to lose about 50lb) but right now it’s so hard 😩

Back on the keto train today , I'm always really successful with weightloss when I do it . It's just trying to get back into the swing of things and I feel the first week is always the hardest 🙈 I'm determined this time as I resemble a little barrel at the moment ❤
Good for you❤ I am on day 10- had a busy day in the garden- aches & pains & tired- hubby firstly tempted me with take away for dinner ( resisted) then he went off to the shop for icecream- I came to bed and put on a facemask- it was hard to resist but I managed- just about- I don’t see any change in myself yet but my painful hip is less so - i absolutely believe sugar inflames my hip pain- best of luck you’ve done it before - you can do it again 👍

I mostly have fat and protein. The more of that you have the less hungry you are. I also don't eat breakfast but have a butter coffee when I get up about 4/5 am and then don't eat anything else until late lunchtime

I have cauliflower, broccoli, dark greens. Also, I have Konjac flour (carb-free) noodles and rice etc. I don't buy low-carb goodies as they are stopping you from fully benefiting from being very low carb. The fewer sweet things you have the easier it gets I also don have any grain low carb or not. sweet things and grain things do give you more cravings. I am a carb addict so the fewer I have the better for me.

If I eat low carb I am never hungry, if I eat carbs I'm never sated, it's like my stomach is a bottomless pit that will never get full. I went from living to eat to eating to live. I am always in ketosis and it's amazing for my mental health. good steady energy no high/low like you get with eating carbs

Day 7:
2 Mozzarella cheese slices and spreaded each with a Philadelphia soft cheese mini tub and rolled them up into cheese bites, I used 1 more mozzarella cheese slices and made them into Keto crisps, the rest of the philadelphia soft cheese mini tub for dipping and half an avocado for breakfast
Nothing for lunch as I was full up from breakfast
Lettuce wrapped burger with a slice of melted mozarella cheese, Skinny Sauce BBQ Dip in the burger and used 2 more mozzarella cheese slices and made them into Keto crisps.
Finished on 17g Net Carbs
1 WEEK DONE (y)
I'll be weighing myself tomorrow morning x

Offish week for me because it's my birthday, but a shop planned friday (payday) ready to push myself from next Monday to lose the last 2-3 stone after that!
Happy Birthday! You enjoy yourself! Mine is coming up this summer so Ill be definately indulging! You can do it 🥳

How does everyone feel about double cream?

I like having it in my coffee in the morning as it's fucking delicious, and then have a much later brunch, which usually takes me through.

Comparing calories between double and single cream is shocking – for 2 tbsps of double cream, it's a 100cal difference

Double cream: <0.5g Carbs, 140ish cals
Single cream: 0.6 Carbs, 55 cals

I think I'd rather have a microscopically larger amount of carbs in the AM, than the extra cals!!

(Obvs I'm not having 2 tbsps of cream in my coffee but you get what I mean).

Are there times you go with the lower fat version because of cals?
I've not brought double cream yet, I don't drink hot drinks, I am such a minority lol, but haven't brought anything lower fat in version yet, but I guess double or single cream, whatever you choose it's fine I would think :D

Keto also can be known as Low Carb High Fat diet. Both dirty and clean keto are based on that.

Dirty keto is where you fill up mainly on meat, cheese and high fat options like butter, cream etc. Very similar to Atkins. Yes, you will lose weight but the nutrients you consume will not be as rounded as they could be.

Clean keto is the introduction of more of a paleo diet. So it's the inclusion of fats, but healthy fats. So more nuts, seeds, avocado's, oils etc....

With both you are encouraged to keep carb intake to 20-30g a day. However, how you choose to ingest those, from the approved list, determines the type of keto you follow.

This is an old thread but the only one I can see so hopefully someone will see it! I’m on day 2 of keto and feel so rough - sick, absolutely knackered, dizzy, heavy. Just need some reassurance that this is normal and it passes…right??

Same. I weigh every day and then take the average for the week. It means that you see the overall trend downwards rather than feeling like you haven't lost anything if you happen to weigh on a day when your weight has fluctuated upwards.
