it doesn't add up...sold out launches, big plans with that massive free printer ( I guess she had a year with that and did nothing, so maybe she just waffles for the camera with "plans" to see if there is interest?) , they just bought that tape thingy Mike was so excited about for saving time in the future. But there is no future? POD means no stock, no packing at home... I just don't get it... maybe she has been pretending to be more successful than she actually was ? Or she did not have her taxes done correctly and got a huge fine maybe??? I would love to hear other peoples theories!

I wouldn’t be at all surprised. I’m not buying that this decision has been a long time coming. There’s absolutely nothing to support that. Only last week she was buying Mike that sticky label machine for over a hundred quid (quality content there Catherine ) and a couple of days later she’s jacking it in? Something has happened. Something sudden. Let’s look at what she says in the video, not all the fluffy crap about creative integrity but the stuff that’s most likely behind this. Firstly their desire to be parents and possibly being told by medics that she needs to slow down/reduce stress. Of course, anyone else would cut back on the galavanting, vlogging and keeping up multiple social media accounts. Instead she’s chosen to carry on with all of that and cut back on the actual job. I also think the bit about Mike and the prospect of employing someone new was very telling too. He’s been at that studio working while Catherine and the husband, both now “company directors“, fuck off on very expensive holidays every three weeks. It would be completely understandable if he decided that packing cuddly toys and licking envelopes for them wasn’t the career he had in mind and told them he’s out. They couldn’t possibly employ someone to take responsibility for that business like Mike does every time they’re away without paying a very large salary and putting a massive amount of trust in a stranger.
And maybe this mysterious property company that Dean’s a Director of is something to do with it too.

Has she been to the Ghibli park or museum? I can't understand not going especially when you have an interest in art and character design and storytelling.

The museum is hell to get tickets for tbh. I was up at 2am trying and luckily managed to score some but I was 17000th in the ticketing queue. Catherine doesn’t seem the type to be awake when things go on sale at Japan time, plus you can’t film or take pics inside so for her she can’t use it as content. She’s missing out though because some of the exhibits are incredible. Kichijoji is such a nice area to visit as well.

She finally bought an automatic tape dispenser, which Mike is THRILLED about, talking about how much time it's saving, it's making everything more efficient. Catherine, that was a GREAT purchase for your business. Why do you continue to spend your money on more decor, new keyboards, and random tat for your (second) office instead of investing in your business properly, by supporting your employees with purchases to improve their worklife? She did the same thing when she finally bought the boys a new iPad and they were losing their minds. She's so selfish. Or thick. Or both?

I used to really like her and I still want to like her but she seems to be getting quite fake since she lost all the weight. Overlining lips a lot, heavy filtering etc. I think she seems more insecure now than before she lost the weight.

The way she faffs about endlessly in the studio, getting product shifted and orders out of the door cannot be the priority. Everything is s o o o o s l o o o w. The endless reorganisation of stock, putting it in boxes and making stickers for the boxes to write the product name on. Tidying boxes on shelves, putting white sticky back plastic on desks to make them look nice, the pink decor…. This is not how a real business operates. She fannies about hand packing a sheet of stickers with a thank you card, tissue paper, a glassine bag and a sticker to seal the stickers with. If this is genuinely how she operates then she can get given as many flashy printers as she likes, the business will never expand. There’s so much waste in all of her manual processes she’s literally throwing money away.
And to try and tell us that she’s deprived of a holiday? Cheeky bitch. She’s literally ALWAYS away and I’m sorry but the fact that you’re pointing a camera at everything you eat doesn’t mean it’s work. You’re taking a camera on holiday to make videos like millions of people do. I noticed that she had to put lots of disclaimers on that vlog as subtitles because she must have realised how ungrateful and entitled she was sounding.

I knew she had ambitions to be a travel vlogger but I think she overestimates her creativity in producing those kind of videos. They’re ok if you watch one or two, but they are so formulaic. If you miss one, it’s not the end of the world as you pretty much know what’s involved. Breathily squealing how cute/amazing everything is in between eating food, going round shops, Dean trying to avoid the camera and travelling on public transport is about all you get.

She's doing it all backwards. Beatrix Potter wrote incredible stories and the popularity of the characters came from their stories. She keeps banging on about "The world of Katnipp" , but that doesn't exist. Cart before the horse. Beatrix Potter's stories have heart and are timeless. She was a talented author who happened to also be a great artist. Whatever people think about Catherine's art, she is not an author and not a storyteller. I don't think she understands how competitive the children's book world is now. It's expensive and even established authors often don't make enough to have it be their full time job.

Poor mike . Sounds like she made the decision and that was that , even if it has been a longtime coming it sounds like a quick turnaround . Seems v unprofessional !

I had to stop watching her because the way she runs her business is too frustrating to witness. Always surprised about seasonal releases (spring, Halloween, and Christmas happen at the same time. every year. Why are we surprised AND behind every. single. year?), always has typos on products and packaging, is constantly inconsistent with standardizing her characters' looks (Bumholebutt's wings are sometimes fully outlined, sometimes not, once she forgot his wings altogether and it went to print on a full order of mousemats (I think it was)). The amount of waste she creates as well. Like the beanies and jumpers they couldn't move. But also in moving offices and the furniture in and out, buying trinkets and toys "for the office", creating entire cafe facades. Remember when she put her name in the hat to open an actual, real life cafe? Can you imagine her business acumen running an actual functional coffee shop? "Dean says we've run out of coffee beans, I didn't know we'd have such a rush in the morning! Let's pop round to the charity shops and look for new mugs, shall we?"

Also, I just have to say, I have always thought the logo for Katnipp was a fish. It took me years to realize it's just her head/hair, not fins.

She is so full of shit. It would be much more genuine of her if she just admitted what’s going on here. She started using social media to advertise her business, but she’s got to the point where it’s now flipped and her main revenue stream is the vlogs and travel stuff with the old business now becoming a hindrance. She’ll keep some of the characters going to keep engagement with the old audience but it will be in the most hands-off way possible. Then her and misery guts can grift their way around on holiday pretending they’re in some sort of creative journey.
No surprise that Mike and his wife have another three channels between them because when you see someone reaping rewards by being a self obsessed narc then you’re going to try and get a piece of the pie.
It’s so completely obvious and 35 minutes of twaddle from her will never convince me otherwise.
