I watched the latest studio vlog. Catherine, in her grey (?) lip liner, is leaving everything and selling coloring books and children's books, neither of which she's produced nor sold before, so really just putting all her eggs in one very untested basket. Her and Dean's goals are to travel half of the year and create "my stories on the road". She's doing all of this because she doesn't feel inspired by her work anymore, but gets inspired when she's traveling. Babe, that's life. That's just how life is. You're chasing dopamine.
How quickly do we think she's going to outgrow the garage office they're building? She bounced around studios regularly.
They're selling Ronnie the Roland, but she says she has no idea how to do that.
She wants to do crowdfunded plushies and outfits for plushies in the future. And do "more plushies. Not less." But it's all going to be crowdfunded??
After they shut everything down, they're going to drive to France and live in the Riviera for 6 weeks. Then go on a cruise.
Y'all. They have so. much. stock. to move. And more shipments are on the way. They have to turn the studio keys back in August. I've noticed she also states often things like, "woah it's late 5pm" or "we didn't leave work until 7pm last night" to give this impression of an extremely dedicated business owner when she herself has admitted she has the luxury of sleeping in, in a morning and doesn't come into work until at least 10-11am - which is fine and tbh sounds lovely - but the false narrative of enabling people to think you're so hardworking and tired because you're there late or on weekends when as a matter of fact she's only spending the same amount of hours if not less there as any full-time worker.
This woman is doing my tree in. She wants (and fully expects) stockists, warehouse contracts, marketing deals, licensing partnerships, book signings, a “world of Katnipp” shop or whatever it was she wanted, IP collabs (Hello Kitty, etc), and book series of her world like bloody Winnie the Pooh or something.
Is she ok?? Does she realise she is a YouTube small business creator, the same as thousands of others on there? She’s losing her USP (actually creating character products and not just being a POD sticker/paper product business) and becoming as generic as all the others — more so, in fact, considering she won’t even be packaging and mailing the stuff herself anymore, which DOES make a difference. A lot of these small business creators stay afloat on the parasocial thrill of receiving something they have personally touched and sent to the fan directly.
And don’t start me on the whole Roland thing. They shelled out so much money funding multiple trips for her and the guys to liaise with the company, and then GIFTING her a several thousand pound printer under the understanding that she would be using it and promoting it. And now she’s SELLING it. I can’t actually believe the front of that. Selling it. Give it back to the company!! She’s totally swindled them. Why are they simping so hard and cooing over her for it? Did they not have a contract? Surely she’s in breach.
All those wasted weeks faffing around with “decor decals” or whatever she called them. And for what. Taking on the pointless second studio so she could feel all Girl Boss Goals with her own big office. Whinging constantly about having no space in the other huge studio — failing to address the massive overstock problem continuously taking up all the space. You don’t need a constant mountain of thousands of items when you’re a small business! Especially when it means you need to add to your overheads by leasing a second studio just for you to sit and fuck about creating “cute” desk spaces constantly and editing old vlogs. She could’ve honestly done all her computer stuff at home and just come in for physical manufacturing & packing orders. She didn’t need a second studio. It was a big empty chamber just for her desk. Twat.

I really used to like Catherine, so it pains me to say but in her latest vlog she just comes across as spoilt and (like others have said) she just doesn’t want to work as much anymore and wants to swan off to Disney all the time for “inspiration”. She clearly thinks she’s going to be better off as a travel vlogger and “producing children books” (her characters aren’t that cute or interesting imo and it’s an insult when she compares herself to Beatrix Potter) also she has hardly any experience getting into such a saturated market - she illustrated like one children’s book years ago didn’t she?

I like that she blurs people's faces tbh. If I was in Disney with my family I wouldn't want my kids faces on a YouTube channel with potentially thousands of viewers.I used to really really love Catherine. But since her weight loss shes slowly becoming a completely different person. Shes also constantly changing studios & travelling every other week. I’m really really behind on her vlogs im at least over a year behind so I need to catch up lol but judging by the thumbnails & dipping in here and there I can see what’s going on.
This is probably an unpopular opinion but I hate that she blurs out peoples faces when she’s out and about especially when she’s travelling. I can see she’s doing it for privacy reasons but it just makes the videos seem a little dystopian to me and takes away from the experience. I know it’s something little but it makes a big difference actually seeing people in the background and their expressions but they are now just blurry heads with bodies. Shes the only vlogger I watch who does that to that extent.
I also wish she would stop showing Dean and stop asking him questions that require an answer because he’s the most miserable boring husband. I get that he’s maybe a bit shy but he must be used to his wife filming by now and he can at least look happy ffs.
I know so many people hate Catherine being sickly sweet but I love it. I feel like I can just switch off and watch something pink and cuteI hope she never stops doing the “shall we” and the “hehehehe” I’m sorry but I really like it.

I’ve seen this a lot with very overweight people - lose a substantial amount of weight and think they can relax now they’re a normal size. They cheat once which doesn’t have an effect, so cheat again and bam before they know it they’re back in their old habits and gain back.
The sad truth is that they have a mental issue with food which isn’t addressed by surgery or diets.
Catherine has done so well in losing weight, but she’s lost herself in the process of chasing an “aesthetic”.

So after the “I feel like a failure” weight gain story we get a London vlog. An amazing hotel for a romantic weekend she squeaks while Misery Guts gawps into his phone in the background. Then it’s off to “The Great Christmas Feast” where they stuff their faces with rich, fatty food and wines at £165.00 each.

Absolutely. She said people have asked if she’s sO bUsY why not just stop the holidays, or the “travel“ as she describes it. And her reply is that she really loves travel but wants “slow travel”. In other words, travel you don’t have to cut short to get back to a needy attention seeking business for.
What the fuck is Meany Deany’s role in the new Katnipp I wonder? If he’s not operating that Roland printer or staring silently at a computer screen, what’s he contributing? Very cocky comment on her vlog from him about people continuing to support her. I'm in the same business as her, though physical sales at conventions and such rather than online so far. A lot of UK artists are being hit by the tariff problems, she's not the first to announce closing up shop, recently, though I don't believe that's her reason at all.
Print on demand is pricy and doesn't give much return to the artist unless you're doing very well. That's why so many artists source out their own manus (or buy shirt presses etc.) and do it themselves.
But someone as consistently bad at quality checking her products should NOT be looking into persuing kickstarter or similar to crowd source her items, especially plushies and pins. That requires a LOT of back and forth between herself and whatever manu she decides to use, and a lot of trust in the creator (her) to not rip potentially hundreds of people off with shoddy items that have the wrong patterns or colours or anything. I've also witnessed small businesses go under because they launched hugely successful kickstarters and then had to refund everyone because the products came and weren't what they wanted at all.
This is all such a strange move for her to be making - if it weren't for the tact that print on demand allows you to swan around the world. Which is exactly why she's doing this, I feel. She obviously doesn't NEED katnip to do as well as she pretended it did, as they have other income to play with. Now she can throw her designs on Redbubble, make a pittance (by comparison) while charging her loyal customers double, and live in France or Spain or wherever she fancies being at the time.
