I think they aren’t married but in a civil partnership- not sure if they have the same protections as a marriage?
Have looked into it recently, exact same entitlements as a marriage. She could be fleeced if they divorced, unless she got the better lawyer and they favoured women.

Civil partnerships are exactly the same as marriages in law. Pre-nups, however, are not recognised/binding in English law.

Call me an old romantic, but civil partnerships sound like you're starting up a firm together or something, seems somehow cold and sterile. I mean, I'm not advocating some Mills and Boon wedding in a country church, I get that's not for everyone ... but even getting married in Vegas dressed-up as Elvis seems more romantic than 'a civil partnership'. (Getting married in Vegas might be technically be a civil partnership, I'm not sure. But you get my point). I think if it were me I'd either go the whole hog and get married in a church or just not bother and just live together. Ok, pointless ramble over ... :ROFLMAO:

Personally I wouldn’t do it, but some people don’t want a big wedding and if you’ve been together for years and have kids it protects you legally and financially.
I don’t think I’d feel really married if I hadn’t had the wedding though.

The majority of people who get married aren’t religious. You can get married in places other than a church or the local register office! Civil ceremonies have outnumbered religious ones for decades.

I have only been to 2 church weddings. But about 15 weddings where the ceremony is conducted by a registrar, none of which were in a register office.

Personally I think when same sex marriage was introduced they should have converted all civil partnerships to marriages and stopped offering civil partnerships. The only people I know who get a CP have done it to be AlTeRnAtIvE

Totally agree! I know two straight couples who had civil partnerships recently and they did it to prove how deeply against the institution of marriage they are. Whilst wanting all the legal protections of marriage at the same time…

I don't see the different between a civil partnership and a wedding when performed in a registry office. Both probably take 6 minutes and have same laws assigned to them in if you split. I think in Ireland it was only gay people who had Civil Partnerships until we voted to bring in marriage.

That’s how it used to be here and then a boring straight couple challenged being able to have civ partnership and then they were introduced for everyone

Makes me laugh that straight couples with their lack of oppression, feel oppressed by not being able to have what was forced on gay couples. The mind boggles!

She's posted a story saying she knows that as a "Gousto ambassador" she's not supposed to ag off other recipe companies, but she's just seen a spon con for one and it looks gross and inedible and I'm fairly sure it's a story of Stacey Solomon's she's talking about  in fairness if that is the post she's referencing, the meal does indeed look like (literal) tit 🤭💩

Before Katherine was so proud (rightly so) of being the first female in her family to own their own property solely if I remember correctly. Now when talking about that same flat, not their family home, it's we we we we we. As in her and Bobby. We own a flat. We've spent thousands on it. Has he bought a share of the flat? I doubt it.

Oh my goodness - I was shocked when I heard her say that it was their property. I have a flat that I bought with the money I inherited from my mum. It’s tied up in property to afford us holidays as a family because I let it out. But it’s in my name. I think it’s empowering to feel that you have something of your own.
Of course if I died- my husband would inherit it and that’s fine. Ultimately I want the proceeds to go to our child.

To be honest, her insta passed me by until I read this thread quite recently. To use MN parlance, he’s such a cocklodger. And not an attractive one.

Anybody else find it strange to hear her talking fairly seriously (though she seemed to eventually decide against it, thankfully) about going to Turkey to save a couple of grand on liposuction? She earns literally millions and has talked about taking helicopters to gigs

I really genuinely like Katherine but the podcast is a bit of a drag lately. Bobby is... not the catch she thinks he is, and she seems highly frazzled by life. It's a shame she doesn't feel able to take a break for a few months.
