I was wondering about Sara Pascoe and her too and she’s also mentioned being close with ashling Bea but I cannot imagine either Sara or Ashling having much patience with the Andrew Tate, Jordan Peterson crap.

Is the Dockatot Katherine advertised actually dangerous/linked to SIDS? I have a couple of those snuggle pillow things and didn't know...

I had a Clevermama one (Irish brand) and have survivors bias as my kids didn't die, never read anything bad about them when mine were little in last 5 years. Mine was used during day only as a bed downstairs and only until they could kinda move about.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a press release about the Deluxe+ being causatively linked to infant death. Not sure about other products and to my knowledge there haven't been similar statements from any consumer protection agencies in Europe or the UK so I'd probably check with your paediatrician just to be sure.

I thought the instruction booklet literally says supervised day time naps only so they shouldn't be used overnight like many influencers do (which people then copy)

I didn't even look at booklet with mine but I thought it was common knowledge they should only be used for supervised day naps. Why would you put a big puffy thing in a perfectly safe and comfortable (rightfully empty) cot!? I would like to think or hope they take it out once they do their pic for the gram, but is misleading for people who have not got a lot of common sense.

The amount of people I know who share on their insta stories clips through the monitor of their kids sleeping in one is terrifying.

I think a lot of people just see that tiny fragment of a day and assume they are safe for all sleeping when they really aren't. It will sadly take a tragedy for a lot to realise.

Both my kids used the Sleepyhead at night and were perfectly fine. It cocoons them and helps them sleep. I know the guidelines, I also know that there hasn’t been a single case of cot death reported by anybody using one. The theory is they could turn their head sideways and suffocate on the raised side. The thing is, they can’t roll over yet when they’re small enough to use them, so I judged the likely hood of this happening to be infinitesimal. Go ahead and judge me if you want, I don’t care!

I also used a sleepyhead at night, they were all the rage on insta when I had my kids and I remember ordering one on Amazon when at my wits end with my first's sleep. I was always told it just mimicked what nurses do with babies in hospital when they surround them in rolled up towels? They probably don't do that any more either.

Anyway neither of mine bleeping slept for years so it made little difference 🤣

I used to like Katherine but it seems like all her recent podcast episodes are in some way or another about how how much money she has, or how much money she can afford to spend on things. Calling a private midwife service ‘affordable’ for example. Maybe it is just the tone in which she talks but it comes across very arrogant. I am not usually one to be sensitive about the topic of money but it just seems to be leaving a bad taste for me.

Not to mention when she says "O I wouldn't have noticed 3k missing from my account" When they got scammed (yet again) recently! Then backpedals when she realised how badly that would be perceived. She just proves she is just tacky new money.

I listened to the birth story episode and felt the same. So superior and high handed. I almost couldn’t believe that this was Katherine Ryan talking. It’s like her persona has changed entirely since she met her husband and wants to be barefoot and pregnant all the time.

I’ve met enough women who approach pregnancy and birth as something to excel at (and secretly judge other women who don’t do it as well as them) and she sounds JUST like that now.

And then goes on to talk about wealthy people being scammed and casually slipping in that the deposit cost $10thousand!

She's very close with Sara and Aisling. I think Sara is also married to Katherine's co-star from The Duchess

I think KR is quite unsupportive of other female comedians, at least on social media. I see a lot of her female peers liking and commenting on her posts, but don’t see it being reciprocated much.
I think she's actually said in the past she's given up her space as the token female on panel shows for up and coming female comedians, because she knows how hard it is to break through.
I think she shouldn't really podcast immediately after giving birth, I don't think your heads in the game like it needs to be and her latest episodes have missed the mark slightly.

I didn’t know that! That’s a good thing to do.
You are so right! I felt like a different person after each of my kids were born. Took me a while to feel like me again. Maybe we shouldn’t be too hard on her.

That’s a fair point. After having my children it took 10-12 months before I started feeling like myself again.

And she’s had them very close together as well. I’m not a fan of BK but I give Katherine a bit of grace at the moment knowing how full on that age gap can be.
I also think she went into Fred’s babyhood thinking he’d be similar to Violet who sounded like a very chilled out baby and he isn’t like that. That would have been a rude shock as well.

Why give her grace when she could step away from the Podcast instead of posting toxic BS weekly? Even if she is not the full shilling after 2 kids, she should still be held accountable! She could stay quiet and take a break, noone is going to begrudge that. Or at very least hire an editor or advisor, seeing as she likes telling everyone how rolling in it she is.

Exactly…women should stay quiet. 🙄 Also referring to a new mother as ‘not the full shilling’ is pretty bleeping toxic in itself.
