i think that might have been more of a choice from the producers of Scotland's Home of the Year rather than something kate decided "not to go back to." I'm assuming they replaced her with a different host while she was gone?Ooh the fact she is not going to go back to Scotland's Home of the year is interesting. Maybe they're not staying in Scotland. I still think they're moving to Edinburgh but happy to throw somewhere more left field into the mix - London?
Kate's more likeable than a lot of infielders but it does grind my gears that she never acknowledges her privilege. She has carefully constructed this appearance of being down to earth "one of us" kind of people when really she is SUPER privileged and has A LOt of money that isn't from working hard but from family.I think Kate thinks she’s super down to earth because she’s from Glasgow not Edinburgh and from south side not the west end but she’d do well to acknowledge her privilege getting on the brutal housing ladder super young and having spare money for extensive renovations and essentially not working a proper day’s work in her life… meanwhile people in streets near her are exploited by slumlords and struggling to make ends meet. Even her husband’s coffee shop is only open 3 days a week. What a charmed life.
*privilegedThe coffee shop seems like a hobby. They live such an odd life.
I find her “I’m so busy” this weeks posts completely insufferable. What I wouldn’t give to reorganise a few shelves, get a manicure etc etcThere she goes again with the selfies and “I need a nap”.
Yes, we get it. Does she have anything more exciting to say?
No, she said her mum had knitted them ‘just in case’ they were needed for future grandchildren. A lovely thing to do I think, showing incredible insight into how it would feel for her kids to have kids without her - she provided a practical and tangible connection. Sharing wee things like that is one of the reasons I like Kate - it was vulnerable and sweet. She didn’t make a big deal about it, but clearly it is a big deal.I though those were things Kate's mum had knitted for Kate when she was a baby. I could be totally wrong on that as I don't really remember the stories now. Pretty sure that's what I thought at the time though.
I think it’s more the whole set up that is pampering. For most mums, they’re on mat leave at this point while their partner is at work. That’s where a lot of familial inequalities are baked in.not sure why you consider a woman to be pampered just because the father of their child does most of the care. nobody says that about men.
there are plenty of things to criticise kate for but having a partner who is hands on with their baby is not one of them!
It kind of surprises me how unrelatable she's become. I mean, she's always been quite high on the smug level, but the tone deafness of her recently has shocked me - I always thought she was quite down to earth. Yes, I'm sure to her, blog posts and taking photos are 'work' - but now more than ever these influencers need to wind their neck in a bit and stop the pity party. Yeah, life is boring Kate, but we're not all getting fancy free deliveries everyday and spending our days in bed reading books, ken?I really want to like Kate but find her really annoying and out of touch!
Just hate the fake smile and really obvious poses around her house trying to be candid. Her natural smile is really pretty but I don’t know why she always goes for the half smile dead-behind-the-eyes look for all her grid posts - mean but true.
I’m getting so sick of influencers during lockdown that I prefer people who are unpolished and don’t moan about how hard writing a blog post is.
Kind of hope these type of influencers die out soon
I’m amusing myself with thoughts of the Parisian content plan.I can’t help but think about the behind the scenes of her posing in Paris. Jordy carrying the baby, the baby bag, Kate’s things and trying to get the shot.
