I was thinking that but tbf, my husbands great nan died in October last year and it took literally ages to organize the funeral partially due to there being a backlog and also they have a massive family that they were trying to organize it around too
My real grandad sadly passed away a few days after “grandad” and his funeral was only done a few days ago as that was the earliest date available. I imagine it’s similar all around the country with backlogs.

Yeah, it's really weird. She mentioned he's being cremated so I assume they had to wait to get a slot or whatever it's called.
She said something last week about how listeners to the show apparently listen to the radio all day every day (I promise you Kate that gay men do not do that) and want to hear something different for a change. But of course Ar Kate is being as consistent as ever because when someone requested Ariana Grande this morning she selected that little known, obscure album track Thank U Next, and it doesn't stop her playing the same 1960s/1970s #1s week in week out.

That's what got me wondering.
Seemed like a weird thing to do, to jump from an obscure track from a British band to a well known one from an American artist. I feel like maybe she has absolutely no clue about these acts/songs and just picks one at random in the hopes of appearing like she's got her finger on the pulse with modern music....
Probably. She butchers Ariana's name every time she tries to pronounce it and I can't imagine she gets played much at the bowls club, so maybe she genuinely doesn't know the song.
This is probably it. She types "Take That" into the system and picks whatever is top of the list. Then plays Vera Lynn for one of her 13 grandparents.
Call me mental, but isn’t the point of a request show that you hear the song during the show? Not on Instagram 10 hours before. I would ask her but no doubt would get the usual attitude.
