Right?! Although I think it was a thing for a while with McMansions in the 90s too. A video popped up on my feed the other day with some bizarre primary bedroom bathroom layout with no doors and a sunken jacuzzi and there was carpet… and a bidet.

I don’t know why but this is giving me MLM pyramid scheme vibes.
While her point is valid, I wouldn't call very basic point and shoot camera work and editing 'quality content'.

I've seen several channels, the one pushing it the most that I've seen is Grounded Life Finances/Travel. Their schtick is "retire now and travel full time". They even basically tell people how to invest money.
Naturally they have a course at around $200 or so. Also, their "retirement" is running 6 YT channels and supposedly they have some sort of modeling business. I questioned them once about if they're running 6 YT channels, that's not really being retired. I was told "We consider retirement being able to do what you want". Last I checked, retirement meant you weren't working anymore.
Everything they own is in a suitcase and backpack each. They went through a whole thing about selling everything, but the guy still carries an Xbox with him around the world.
And they also talk about different jobs you can do if you're "retired" and travel full time. Of course, they say teach English. Most of these folks don't have enough of a grasp of English to teach it to anyone. The other one was giving tours in one of these countries they go to. As they told it, the gist seemed to be pay for/go on a tour, take some notes and then start charging people for a similar tour. Sorry, but if I show up for a tour of a cultural/historic site in a foreign country, and some "retired" American expat is giving it, I'm asking for my money back.
Most of these folks act like it's their greatness that makes the money, no it's the ad rates on YT and the garbage you sell to people as well as freebies you seek from companies. These idiots hawking something instantly makes me not want it.
Aren’t there massive rules about giving financial advice in the U.S like there are in the U.K.? Discuss finances with any institution in the U.K and they will spend minutes giving disclaimers that nothing they tell you should be construed as advice.
My best friend is a teacher and taught at the Canadian school in Beijing for a number of years. The schools are basically for rich Chinese families to send their kids to get a “Canadian” curriculum education so they can then come here for university. That one is atleast legitimate but working as a tour guide some place you’ve visited once is complete and utter BS. I think that’s why I try to book my walking/food tours with actual local companies with their own websites and not someone on Get Your Guide, Viator, etc.

Yeah, but with YT/social media, like other stuff, you'd have to have a number of complaints or press to really get anything done. A number in the US either bury their (gifted/ad/product provided etc) notifications for a second in the video or like at the end of the notes where no one will read them.
I'm sure they probably once in a while say they're not licensed or this or that, but to the average person who sees them hawking this lifestyle and then laying out this is what we did and invest in, to me that's the same thing.

The thing is that most don't view YouTube for what it actually is - an advertising platform. That's its primary purpose and everything else is a distant second in the name of the first.
Wonder if she'll actually book a group properly or try to be under the radar and tell people the date to book because it may cost her a nickel to have to reserve a space for gathering. It's funny how all these people say they're worried about safety so post videos after they cruise/travel/go to the gas station, but if it's something to make them some extra cash, then here's the date we're sailing that's months away so if you're a crazy, you have plenty of time to plan things out.

Exactly. WTF does she have to add? Also, when I see stuff like the Dr's "Autism Moms Need Empathy and Understanding" to me that always sounds like the whole "Nobody has it as tough as we do" type of thing. If so, Jen will fit right in since she's got it tougher than anyone else.
