The details coming out in the inquest are horrific. He deffo owed alot of money for drugs, he went to that house in hope he could make some quick money to get rid of the debts. His friends knew he had a marker on his head. He got some sort of signal that they knew were he was and he ran for the hills. Regardless of whilst kind of criminal he was, that's a terrible way to go.

Ah that's awful, he must have been absolutely terrified. I just want to know why the heck his "mates" didn't even try to get him to the airport and have him out of there. What a bunch of good for nothing arsewipes.

More or less. He claims to have had residency in Vietnam for a year (it has not been a year, given how this time last year he hadn't even yet fannied over to Tenerife), but then goes on clandestine minibreaks over to Thailand every 30 days to (likely) reset his tourist visa. He briefly tried a rebrand where he claimed he was wearing traditional Vietnamese headgear every day because it was too much being accosted by curious locals because he's white (that stopped after a couple of days, he had/has not been seen wearing the headgear before or since).

Main activity is wandering round on live coining it in off bored (middle aged) women pretending he's very very lost and very very worried about in the city but he's usually wandering the same radius all the time which can be ascertained by the same skyscraper hotel being visible in the background.

Main point of interest was he glommed onto some random Vietnamese family (we don't know their names, they were just referred to as The Family, it's possible he didn't know their names). Then on his 30th birthday he got absolutely wankered and was yelling abuse at them and they were going to call the 'Vietnamarse' [sic] police on him and he posted this (subsequently deleted) and it seems The Family told him to Get Fucked.

I was a wreck head when I was late teens. Now I’m in bed for 9 most nights, and go to a pub about twice a year. Can see how he’s been on one and it’s ended badly. How the hell i didn’t get in more trouble I’ll never know. Lucky I guess. And didn’t go abroad BUT still think there’s shit loads more to this sort saga than we will ever know

This thread has been one of the most hilarious things I've read. I know the circumstances were tragic and no one dismissed that fact, it was the 'supporting cast' and your comments towards them which provided the entertainment. I was only allowed to lurk all through it but did vow, should membership open, I would have to congratulate you all on your fine wit and comments

I think a lot of us really thought Jay would turn up because of all the crazy rumours and noise about it . I’ve just watched the documentary and it was really sad but I think this thread was never about Jay himself just about the cast of characters who attached themselves to it .

How Channel 4 thought this was worth 1hr 20 mins is a mystery. There was no new information, nothing was explained and the only interesting part about the case was the social media frenzy, not the case itself. There was no analysis of the evidence and it was all so badly presented, it was not possible for someone to come to a measured and reasonable conclusion. Perhaps that was not the point. Who made this? A bunch of first year media studies students with no experience, following a YouTube video on how to make a video.

There was no comment at all regarding the "I am not going to make it" text. To me, it sounded like Jay was telling his mate he wasn't going to make their lunchtime planned meet up, not that he wasn't going to make it on planet earth. Would a 19 year old kid describe his imminent death as "not making it"? If he was lost, dehydrated and thought he was close to death with some battery remaining, he would have still asked for help. IMO, of course.

I thought the dad and brother came across as genuine. If you didn't know the parents were separated before the programme, you wouldn't know afterwards (unless I missed that bit)?

The mortuary scenes were a bit unnecessary but we only saw a specimen jar waved about, not slices of human liver. The body bag wasn't the shape of an intact body (IMO). Of course the pathologist could not tell if Jay fell or was pushed. Science can only reveal so much. In the absence of evidence his upper arms where grabbed or signs of a scuffle at the top (both of which would be long gone by the time he was found), I am not sure what else could give a clear indication of a second party at the scene after all that time.

Keeping the items that your son had decayed in, in a box in your garage was odd. I dare say someone gave them a bit of a clean up before they were handed over. The dad seemed annoyed that he wasn't allowed to bury Jay in the items; that idea seemed to have been blocked, presumably by the mother.

I cannot make up my mind about the mother. Her comments along the lines of "kids will be kids" (I am paraphrasing) when told of the toxicology results showing cocaine etc. did not seem as though she was shocked. That portion played out as a reconstruction for the camera so I am not sure if her real reaction was thus.

Really it was a pointless time filler of a programme that added nothing to the story.

RIP Jay - poor kid.

Lads what was your favourite part of this?

The whole saga was brilliant but I will never forget the person who told us they’d heard (maybe on YouTube?) that Debbie and her family owned a Scottish village, and a castle(?) and they’d all gone up there to discuss what had gone on in a barber shop and ayub was also there but was excluded from the group.

I crack up every time I think about it, I’m crying even typing this.

Bloody hell R Debs has had me in bits watching this. I’m not a cryer at all and I was sobbing. Being a mum it hits different. My heart broke for them all. I did think they came across well. Still think Ayub and Rocky are guilty as sin of something.

I felt so sad for Warren when he said "I don't need to tell anyone what I think about Jay", at the end. I do feel for them, especially learning how they had to go through IVF to have both their sons.
