" The University of Glasgow has told The Herald that Professor Jason Arday, the academic embroiled in a growing plagiarism row, has never held a visiting professorship there directly contradicting his official biography on Cambridge's website.
The Cambridge Faculty of Education page, which forms part of his profile as a Fellow at Jesus College and holder of the 2002 Professorial Chair in the Sociology of Education, states he is currently "a Visiting Professor at The Ohio State University in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, University of Glasgow in the School of Education, and an Honorary Professor at Durham University in the Department of Sociology".
When asked if that was accurate, a spokesperson for Glasgow said: "I can confirm that Professor Arday isn't a Visiting Professor at the University of Glasgow."
When asked if he had ever held that position, the spokesperson said he "was never a visiting professor here"."
I share your fascination with compulsive liars. There’s so much of it about, and I can never understand why they do it and how they think they’ll get away with it.
Hes written it with a ghost writer so I'm sure she will be getting all the blame when the factual inaccuracies are pointed out
This is highly reminiscent of the extracts of Jess Taylor’s recent book that have been posted on her thread on here. Though admittedly the writing is of a better standard.
That’s one of the things I’ve wondered about - it would be very easy (you’d think) to get someone from his past or his friends / family to verify the claims about his autism, his lack of speech, his illiteracy, the so-called “seven up” programme run by local mothers, the brain tumour / stroke / broken leg, the trip to Brazil bestowing his munificence upon the grateful locals, the pig’s head, etc.
Well it is. Ifyou’re not really poor or ill or whatever, and are just lying
So presumably there’ll be some other people out there who were part of this community-based, parent-led programme who can verify this.

I don't know anything about this guy, but I've followed compulsive liars like Jack Monroe and recently been reading Jessica Taylor's threads. It's just so obvious most of what they say never happened. It's interesting how they often come up with the same tales like Jack and Jess both claiming to be a sex worker and bank managers in the late 90s approached them for favours.
There's over 74 ratings of his book on goodreads from all the advanced copies sent out. They must have printed a lot and anticipated very high demand.
