I've been following this for a few weeks, but the 'speech therapy three hours a day, seven days a week' was so Jack-a-like I had to head straight over. She could never resist bending space and time to accommodate her fantastic claims.

Absolutely. It's the same as 'Dr' Jessica Taylor wanging on about how psychiatric diagnoses are a patriarchal falsehood and 'there's nothing wrong with you really, everything is just trauma'.
The "I overcame extreme poverty and deprivation / debilitating disadvantage / a terminal health condition / schizophrenia and/or other mental health issues / ran 9 back-to-back marathons with a fractured leg just by being a BLOODY FANTASTIC PERSON with loads of determination, so you can do it too' shtick is horrifically damaging.
The sad thing is none of this is a surprise, including all the people like MPs that should have known better.
If this guy had of been active on social media he probably would have had a tattle thread years ago exposing this all.
Look at "Dr" Jessica Taylor, she's still getting away with really dangerous stuff with the full support of MPs believing her lies and the BBC and Guardian have been big supporters in the past, but now quietly don't platform her anymore. She's so dangerous from telling people with serious mental health issues all they believe is true and you don't need meds. She does so much damage to women who aren't believed because she's a perfect example of someone that will fabricate the most awful claims and waste police time with them.

I saw a post on the Green Party subreddit saying 'what stance do we left leaning people take on this?' Which about sums up how the whole situation has been allowed to get this far, JA is 'a goody' on paper so has been given unlimited leeway in some quarters.
It really grinds my gears when individuals portray having grown up on a council estate as a disadvantage. Not all council estates are equal.
In the late 90s I rented, at great expense, near the area where JA's family were. If you had a low rent council house in some of the roads named after atheletes you were very lucky. I would have struggled to buy a small starter home & at the time I was well paid.
Between Clapham & Battersea there is fantastic access to open spaces and transport. As a MH nurse /social worker this would be hugely helpful as you would be able to pick from jobs at a few different health trusts, commute & do night shifts more easily. Also easy to access many top Universities with a broad range of opportunities. Local Council's offer youth initiatives (sports/footballing academies) which are more plentiful & accessible due to geographical concentration.
Certain jobs (key workers inc nurses) are less competitive in inner London as unless you've scored a council property you would only be able to afford to live much further out on a MH nurse salary thereby limiting job opportunities due to availability & cost of transport. A chef would get work more easily & earn more with access to Zone1 eateries than further out.
MH nursing gives access to multi disciplinary teams & you would acquire knowledge of different diagnoses, how they present & are diagnosed and what benefits and adjustments can be opened up. Bit of an inside track in some ways - people who did not work in these areas often did not know or would have had access difficulties. Getting a diagnosis for children would offer potential for various support. His other siblings also reference neuro divergence.
So far from being at a disadvantage I would suggest that this scenario would provide opportunities and means to progress that most people would consider very advantageous even before the more positive environment created by the, justified, need to improve representation.

Or the parents may have bought the council house (,either under right to buy or bought from owners) and be sitting on a property worth the best part of £1 million.
I have been reading about this case, and it reminded me of a prank from a few years ago.
Steven Crowder, who i believe is an right wing American political commentator, made up a fake persona of being a gender queer large activist called ' Sea' and submitted a paper to a large studies conference. The paper was meant to be a piss take and was a ridiculous parody of an academic paper. The paper was accepted by the conference and he attended on zoom to read the paper dressed in a ridiculous disguise.
If the conference had actually done any due diligence they would have easily realised that the paper was a fake, submitted by someone who doesn't exist.
Whilst it was a bit of a mean thing to do, I think it shows the importance of checking who someone is before taking their word for something, especially when that person claims to be an expert in something.
The fact that he has been awarded academic qualifications and been given jobs off the back of plagiarism is awful. I hope that those responsible for ' waving him through' without checks face some consequences for their failures.

It’s the same as Jack Monroe, Jess Taylor, the Salt Path grifters, etc: they’re the valiant, resolute, ultra-good’ lefties who have overcome multiple right-wing kicks in the teeth and various forms of institutionalised prejudice to rise to the top against all odds, all whilst being a truly wonderful person possessed of special insights, superior knowledge, and exceptional capabilities that they garnered from their decent, salt-of-the-earth connections and pure hard graft. And any questioning of their backstory, qualifications or claims is a blatant Tory smear campaign.

Not my own digging, saw it on reddit. The twitter video was the first time I've seen anyone else endorsing that he didn't know how to read or write when he somehow made it to 3rd level education.

Then he says that his daughter was “hyperlexic” and could read and write fluently at “three, three and a half”, and he says it was funny because for a while they were reading at the same level. But how is that timeline working? I don’t know when the kid arrived and I don’t want to know, but just thinking about how that could even have worked… If he met his wife, she immediately got pregnant while they were navigating phonics together, then four and half years elapse until the precocious child is three, three and a half, Jason is then 22 and well launched into his academic career, no? While still reading Biff Chip and Kipper alongside his daughter, presumably? That is weird, because in the BBC clip he also says that he was 22 when he said to Sandro that he was ‘Thinking about doing a PhD”. So the pre school age daughter was reading at post grad level, then?

So at 18 he learned to read and write and by 22 he was considering a PhD? But he didn’t have any A levels. So he would have had to done an access course and then an undergraduate degree before even thinking about a doctorate.

My kids are profoundly autistic and non speaking. His story is often shared to give desperate parents hope. It's all going to untrue or stretched isn't it? Makes me feel a bit sick

" The University of Glasgow has told The Herald that Professor Jason Arday, the academic embroiled in a growing plagiarism row, has never held a visiting professorship there directly contradicting his official biography on Cambridge's website.
The Cambridge Faculty of Education page, which forms part of his profile as a Fellow at Jesus College and holder of the 2002 Professorial Chair in the Sociology of Education, states he is currently "a Visiting Professor at The Ohio State University in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, University of Glasgow in the School of Education, and an Honorary Professor at Durham University in the Department of Sociology".
When asked if that was accurate, a spokesperson for Glasgow said: "I can confirm that Professor Arday isn't a Visiting Professor at the University of Glasgow."
When asked if he had ever held that position, the spokesperson said he "was never a visiting professor here"."
