It's the calling the police on a journalist for me...when apparently allegedy worse stuff happened to him that he didn't report. From the information I've seen/heard this week it sounds like he is a pathological liar whose 'achievements' were useful PR for Cambridge, etc. He's stolen a space from a person who could be a wonderful academic (of any race and background). He's committed fraud but I imagine he'll be allowed to hide and resign and let time make us forget, rather than be charged for lies and wasting police time. And I think he's probably such a fantacist that he won't understand what he's actually done wrong.

So there were plenty of opportunities for him to be pulled up on his inadequate support of students and nothing was done. Hmmmm. Those students pay so much to get tuition and Cambridge have let them down.
How come none of his classmates or anyone from his primary school have come out before this? I remember when he was on This Morning and it gave so many parents of non verbal autistic kids hope. What a crappy thing to lie about.
I've never heard of a child receiving any kind of specific therapeutic intervention (music, play, speech, art) for longer than one hour a day. And that area is my job. Its like saying you went to counselling/therapy from 9-5 every day. Even intense speech therapy for post stroke patients isn't offered at that level, and if it was, it wouldn't be clinically effective.
He had no problem with a masked knife-wielding madman running around... but he draws the line at checking his lies.
Maybe they hadn’t heard what he’d been up to, maybe they didn’t realise how bad it was, maybe they didn’t want to be piled on, maybe they know he’s a vindictive a, maybe they did but nobody listened.
The Salt Path was the same. The boss with cancer she stole 90k from and only returned in exchange for an NDA had died soon after. His wife said “I’ve been waiting for this call” when the journalist got in touch. She didn’t know if she was allowed to speak up. Estranged family members called the publishers, nobody wanted to know.

I’ve seen people I went to school with who have become successful exaggerate their back stories (not to this extent) and who am I going to tell? A couple of mates. I’m not going to call a journalist. They wouldn’t care.
But now journalists are interested. And I bet they’re crawling all over Clapham and that school he taught at in Richmond trying to discredit even more of the back story.

Maybe things went full circle - the man with the knife was one of the people who beat up the young Jason and turned their life around ... they studied hard ... earned a ton of qualifications ... they applied for the same position as him ... and got turned down because their story wasn't as fantastical as his.
His schoolmate has several valid points. If you're doing tit like this, you're not looking to hype up your area and old schoolmates. You move quietly and away from people who have always had your number.

Yeah, I think now that this has hit the mainstream media a) journalists are going to be all over every single person who was ever within 10 feet of him, & b) there's a market/audience for these stories now. As you say, when this was all sniping amongst snooty academics, who was going to be interested in a story about a professor very few people have heard of whose stories about primary school don't quite pan out?
If Arday had thought of that particular twist, it would definitely have made it into the book!
This I find credible. Names the school and background stuff about Sunday School. It is the mundanity of it that makes it convincing.

This has the ring of truth, and it was inevitable that of course his back story is a complete lie. More will come out, and this fella is right about making it harder for other folks from the same background to succeed. Awaiting the weekend media with maybe a few grainy videos of him singing or whatever.

I was mostly non-verbal until I was about 3 (I very vaguely remember it) although my family joke I've not shut up since. My understanding (I don't claim to be an expert, obviously) is that much after like 5 the odds of someone just randomly starting to talk are quite low.

I think these people genuinely don’t think of the future, in that one day what they say may be questioned..I think they just say the first thing that comes out their mouth to make themselves look good and for attention
