This is the problem with leading with race and inserting it into everything is you can't then complain when the media talk about it too in relation to your position, qualifications, etc. However, many still do want to make just that complaint, eg, the writer of the The Nature editorial. It is a farce - trying to whitewash or ignore the serious issues involved here. Apparently the only issues are the 'racist' press and Cambridge publicly announcing that it would investigate JA's appointment.

The problem is he courted and enjoyed the media attention when it was flattering and you can't just turn if off like a light when it stops being flattering. That's a child's / narc's mentality.
While criticism is an inevitable part of academic life, what I have experienced has gone far beyond scholarly disagreement.
JA is minimising here and refusing any accountability. No lessons are being learnt sadly.

As Lord Woolley is being scrutinised, she should be too, tbh.

There’s some stuff in this article I hadn’t seen before. Arday’s response here to Harris (even before reporting him to the police) is
“you are a monument to the fact we live in a society where grammar is valued above equity”. 
Definitely a possibility. I was thinking more along the lines that Arday was returning to how he presented himself to facilitate the con when he was younger. With the newer people he'd - conveniently - learnt how to 'mask' every trace of autism (IMO impossible), but I think that's actually the real him on show then.
A bit like Meghan Markle quite obviously plastering herself in fake tan and heavy bronzer for certain events with particular demographics, but most of the time - and particularly around rich white people - she sticks with her naturally much paler (though obviously still mixed race) skin tone.
For supposedly bright people, Cambridge profs played dumb, thinking they could ride out the storm with their DEI golden boy in situ.

I don't buy that he was illiterate until 18. I don't think either she or Sandro taught him at that age - he was already literate. I think he roped people in so they wouldn't grass on him. Debs and Sandro basically became flying monkeys who didn't want to spoil what was basically a wonderful feel-good story at this point. Interesting how he would have had to approach the tv company with his story and then acts bashful when they interview him. Also he got some kind of prize from the show for his good works. hmmmm

Exactly. Jason met both Sandro and Debs when he was 18 so if what she’s saying here is what he told her, it can’t possibly true that either she or Sandro taught him to read. Or she’s forgotten the detail of that part of the story.
You’d think she’d remember whether or not she stealth-taught him to read (up in her childhood bedroom with her big tub of hair gel) without him even realizing tho.

2) Immediately resigned when the first mainstream article came out which woulda made the story dry up a little, hill for a bit, then go to some wanky American uni.
Also make bank.

I don't think there's any way to make bank from this clusterfuck. I doubt his book coming out will do well but the family are probably hoping it will. It would be the kiss of death to any uni to employ him after the truth came out. I don't see students being thrilled about
Being exposed was massive narc injury. He needed a sabbatical (maybe actually doing charity work in Africa?), therapy and a regular job that he could actually do well. I still say PE teacher would be a safest option after the storm passed.
I think that someone with more genuine intelligence and quicker wit would have been able to capitalise. Giving talks on how he fooled Cambridge. Being the subject of something written by Jon Ronson. Acting as a talking head in documentaries about liars and fraudsters. If he'd been properly funny and a bit satirical, it could have worked.
He appeared to have no sense of humour whatsoever.
