This isn't a documentary about being poor, having to survive on pennies a day or anything like that. It's a bloody cookery show to help people during lockdown
Absolutely this. As I've said before, I know a lot of people are facing really difficult times. But a lot of people are just trapped inside *all fucking day* and cooking good food is a really lovely escape. I've cooked and baked more in the last two weeks than I have in the last two years so I want a cookery programme that covers stuff I probably have in but used in a fun or interesting or elaborate way.

It's all too much as it is, I can't be eating salmon paste on pasta.

She told us: “This is my thing. I’ve been doing it for years. I’ve been sneered at and fought hard to teach people you can use long-grain rice for a cheap risotto.

This reads exactly like Sali Hughes would say, just replace long-grain rice with red lipstick :ROFLMAO:
Has anyone ever seen Sali Hughes and Jack Monroe in a room together at the same time?
Just asking .....

I've always felt something was a bit off about her. She's always at the centre of some drama.
This thread will kick a drama off for her next on twitter, I'm sure!

Warning the beeb is actually quite an astute move - so any criticism at all she can say comes from here and therefore doesn't count. Sali Hughes
If she's lied about the extent to which she targeted Jamie Oliver and said it was just one tweet it might come back to bite her.

At least now she's got the BBC show she's stopped begging for money. Although she won't be deactivating her patron as she probably feels she's owed money for existing.

Thread suggestion, just keep it simple and make it show up in Google as she'll never dare mention tattle as it's too incriminating:

Jack Monroe #2 bootstrap cook on BBC one's Daily Kitchen Live with Matt Tebbutt

If she is so desperate to hel, like really help and not just make money from this situation, then she should simply use her tins and receipts and get on you tube without all the twitter ranting.
She can't do that because a) she's apparently too "timid" to make YouTube videos and b) she needs a billion hours to prep for a five minute slot on TV which she is magically not too timid for, and c) she already works 20 hours a day and has broken her own back by doing so

Good point here - don’t behave like a charity if you can’t handle any scrutiny.
Oh my goodness this has really pissed me off. The condescending reply was so damn uneccesary- “I don’t have time for that cute shit hun” oh please fuck off. Absolutely reeks of defensiveness, such an over reaction to a perfectly reasonable suggestion. Not to mention that ludicrous lie. 20 hours ? NO ONE believes that. If you are going to pretend you work hard, say 12 hours. No one is swallowing that you sat down to work at 6am and kept steadily at till 2 am. I hate the way people show off about working hard, even worse when they show off about a blatant lie...

I can’t believe how much she enrages me these days. She’s horrendous, an embarrassment to liberals (not to mention amazing fodder for the right) I also can’t believe when she first became famous I actually thought she was pretty cool. I loved the cooking on a bootstrap concept, still do I guess. But she has to be one of the most infuriating figures in public life right now.

But Jamie Oliver’s life work (to quote a phrase form Jack and co) is to make cooking easy, simple and accessible. That was his whole schtick wasn’t it? To get everyone cooking, so I don’t see why he isn’t the right host either. And let’s not forget that Jamie has also lost revenue when his restaurants closed INCLUDING 15 which gave employment to unemployed, disadvantaged young people. It they won’t mention that.
Maybe if Jack recognised the work other people did and tried to be more inclusive and friendly she would get more work?

What's she going to complain about now she has a show? And how will she fit the show into her 4 spare hours of the day?

I watched some of Jamie’s recent programmes this week and think he did a fine job. Gave me quite a few ideas. A cake without eggs, and the padded out tomato sauce were just two.
The padded out tomato sauce was such a good idea. I kept thinking 'well I do that already' but I don't actually - it was just so utterly sensible I thought I did (if that makes sense).

(For anyone that didn't see it he roasted any elderly veg he had lying around - peppers, onions, garlic etc even Jack's dead celery would do - then tipped in a tin of tomatoes and seasoned it and cooked for a few more minutes. Then mashed it up lightly or used a hand blender, or could just use it as it was which I will do. When cool then divide up into freezer bags for portion size and freeze, or I suppose you could use jars and put in the fridge. Add then to stews, pasta or anything really. Also did that thing of rinsing the tin with a bit of water to get every last bit and pad out the sauce further).

As you said he was just quite an inspiration. Jack's stuff just all looks vaguely depressing and food to keep you alive rather than be actually enjoyable. Sort of like my Mum would say - 'if it tastes horrible it's doing you good' (She could use that for her new book title).

I've been following this with interest.
I used to fall for her shit.
My eyes have been opened.

I've also been watching Jamie Oliver's new programme. It's great. I imagine very useful to a lot of people. She never could have done this. She's quite simply not experienced enough at TV.
It's like being jealous of Tom cruise and his film opportunities when your acting experience is limited to being in your local amateur panto every year.

She is embarrassing!

I used to think she was outspoken and morally just but now she's just... a twit will pin her colours to whatever is woke or radical.

Reminds me of 14 year old me who went all out complaining that my school didn't have a girls football team. We made enough noise and got one. I never went, had zero interest in football. I just wanted to make a point.

She’s so shit for posting inflammatory tweets, openly targeting Jamie Oliver, knowing how it would rile up her followers. They all start dogpiling, she deletes her tweets and goes quiet.

I don’t think she regretted posting those tweets, I think she knows exactly what she’s doing. It’s crafty.
Fuck me, that's awful. Why the hell shouldn't he take the job he's been offered? If she was capable, they'd have given it to her. That pisses me off.

If only Jamie Oliver was as unprofessional and gross as her. Would love to see him tweet "No, I wouldn't work alongside you. You are a volatile, talentless arsehole and have purposely made my life difficult because you're jealous of my job. Now fuck off."

I don't think she even wanted the t.v. show shes just pissed off she wasn't first choice. And also probably wants an excuse to create more drama. If she genuinely wanted a show surely she would have made more effort on YT? And how can she expect to have a show if she can't leave the house as she's at risk, and also works 20 hours a day.

I think she needs to get off Twitter. She is clearly so encouraged by all the people acting like she's keeping half of the country alive and fed and has gone a bit insane on her own hype..
She wanted the oppurtunity to say
'i was first choice to present because I am the pioneer of cooking with tins, but I couldn't because i'm immunocompromised and my mental health is suffering.
Jamie has stolen my job off me and took my income.
I've lost so much income due to being immunocompromised so now I'm starving too. Please donate to my paypal.'
