She wears it as a badge of pride that she's released 7 books and has a successful media career but apparently can't buy a house. Where has all the money gone? She can't be all virtuous about underpaying herself while keeping all her finances a secret. She should be embarrassed she's begging for money rather than being able to support herself from her successful career.

Just realised that the vegan banana bread from A Girl Called Jack (published 2014) that she shared on Twitter yesterday is almost exactly the same as the recipe that was posted on BBC Good Food in 2012
Just noticed this - the sugar content is different and yes she’s added some cardamon but the oil, self raising flour, cinnamon and banana measurements are the same. At the bottom of page, Jack states you can “tip the chef” if you want to, which takes you to her PayPal. But, she’s allowed ads on her blog - so she must be making a small fortune especially with everything going on at the moment. Un freaking believable. 😡

Jack comes across as an ungrateful brat in that article. She’s in a nice home with a partner and a son and yet she’s so miserable. With everything going on at the moment she could have an ounce of gratitude.
She also talking of teaching herself to write like Nigella. There is only one Nigella....

She’s so shit for posting inflammatory tweets, openly targeting Jamie Oliver, knowing how it would rile up her followers. They all start dogpiling, she deletes her tweets and goes quiet.

I don’t think she regretted posting those tweets, I think she knows exactly what she’s doing. It’s crafty.

Has anybody else seen this interview she did in 2018 and her views on "That Man".

To call her contrary would be an understatement!! She goes to war on everyone and everything if it doesn't suit her own ever expanding and changing agenda. The bottom line is, you have got to be the whole package if you want to succeed on TV these days. Any sign of nerves, a bad attitude or the wrong look and producers won't touch you, it's as simple as that.

Instead of sitting around writing recipes that look and taste like shit, why don't you try getting up from your desk, which is sound advice after sitting at it for 20 hours a day, and start filming your own series on you tube. The BOSH boys did it and look at where they are now? You have to be clever with what you do now adays to appeal to the public. STEP AWAY FROM THE CAN OPENER and start thinking differently.

Her partner will be on a high salary, pretty sure they could survive on her wage if times are that tough (which I doubt they are).

Her/his/their/it’s name can’t actually be Jack Monroe?? She/he/they must have changed it.

Is she/he a boy or a girl at the moment? Can never keep up.
doesn’t really matter, regardless of their gender... still a chickpea eating numpty

And am I reading this right - someone buys her a weighted blanket and she didn’t bother thanking them? But has time to tweet about the blanket?

Also how tone deaf would you have to be to say you are taking refuge from your troubles under your expensive GIFTED (but forgot to mention that bit, hmm) weighted blanket. While many people are now facing zero income and have no savings, no book advances etc to fall back on.
Oh wowww, without even knowing any of the context of that situation I don’t see how she can justify whatever’s going on there. What an utter narcissist, rushing to tweet that because if she doesn’t post for longer than 5 hours people might forget she exists...
The way it’s such an attention seeking and uneccesary bit of self promotion, but she couldn’t spend 5 minutes on a generic but enthusiastic thank you for whoever that person is.

She might've written numerous books but in all honesty each book contains 2 decent-ish recipes and of those 2, neither will see any fucker asking for seconds because a) they aren't tasty b) are a bit shit. My kids still haven't forgiven me for the stewing steak and rolla cola recipe from the tin can cookbook which tasted like candied corned beef. I'd like to say it was student cooking but it's more like pissed-up student cooking, utterly bizarre and not very good and yet, she gets paid to do this.
Have also watched with interest how she's got allergies now of Inderterminable nature, which will make for a good book or two as she cuts out allergens and nightshades and all inflammatory ingredients as according to the internet.... coming to a charity shop near all of us soon. 😂

So if she can’t find time for a few 5/10 minute YouTube videos how would she have time to host a tv programme! Surely she realises that she is shooting herself in the foot? if any producer goes through her Twitter they are going to dismiss her immediately.
She has been after a tv show for years and it has never got anywhere so obviously, she can't do it very well.
She even went for lessons in presenting which suprise, suprise she asked for donations for as she was skint as always 🙄

I remember a few years back I tried her Pint Glass Bread recipe, it looked easy.

However the backbone of the recipe was 2 x pint glasses of flour and 1 x pint glass beer... problem being the beer I had was a 440ml can.

How was I meant to make that work and what was the point of making the ratios pint glasses if that’s not how you buy off licence lager or bitter? At the time I blamed myself, thought as I’m not British I didn’t understand something about standard alcohol units or I bought the wrong thing. But I do think cans you buy tend to be 440ml, 500ml or bottles I’ve seen are 650ml.

So now I’m thinking it was all a gimmick, something she thought sounded good, regardless of how puzzling it might be to bread-making novices.. which is her target audience. How shit is that?

ETA: I have now googled and see that Stella and Heineken etc come in 568ml cans. But she says to get supermarket basics range bitter which all seems to be 440ml as far as I can tell. Still confusing IMO 🤯
