I imagine she is an Oxfam ambassador in the same way that she is one for the CPAG. In that she told them that she was and they never bothered to check that she isn’t listed anywhere as one.
You forgot to ask about Iqbal!Last Sunday morning I was in a Celerytown coffee shop when I noticed that Ian Rankin was ordering, I didn’t even think to ask him about guest because I was so excited that the other woman in the queue may have been a Frau in the Wild: @DinosaurSenior! I attempted to ascertain whether this was the case by loudly talking to my baby about elderly reptiles but sadly there was no look of recognition. Now imagine my delight that I now know I can wear my VBI badge around the old town as a guest inspired masons handshake!
Threads and threads back (but this year) a frau contacted an organisation to ask if guest was still their ambassador and they were both lax and cagey with their answer. Something about 'yes she is, it matters not that she isn't mentioned on our website anymore', or something. This is a fairly useless post as I can't remember the org or which frau but hopefully someone else will. It all speaks to the complete lack of due diligence from the places that book her, and also the places that championed her. Neither seem to give two people that she is poison, they won't check, they don't care, it's a sign of the tit-times vis a vis activism on social media and it's so wrong and annoying :/I imagine she is an Oxfam ambassador in the same way that she is one for the CPAG. Pretty much all the stuff she's "known" for, like winning awards and being an actual campaigner and charity ambassador, is now at least five years in the past (Big Linda's pinkwashing prizes don't count). It's like putting your grade 5 piano or swimming certificate that you got at middle school on your CV in your mid-20s. At some point surely people will notice she has done nothing of note for years.I imagine she is an Oxfam ambassador in the same way that she is one for the CPAG. But everyone knows she's popular because of all the good she does!!!At some point surely people will notice she has done nothing of note for years.
oh lolol!!! It wouldn't have been me on the Sabbath, Cissy Missy! No caffeine on the Lord's day. Also I don't work that day. But isn't he adorable? Just...buying his coffee like a normal dude, even though he is a Sir. Imagine if guest was there...looking around to see if she was being recognised. Loudly saying her name when they ask it for the coffee cup: "It's Monroe. Jack Monroe. Accidental Conqueror of my Own Fears. Vegan. Disabled. ADHD"....etc etcLast Sunday morning I was in a Celerytown coffee shop when I noticed that Ian Rankin was ordering, I didn’t even think to ask him about guest because I was so excited that the other woman in the queue may have been a Frau in the Wild: @DinosaurSenior! Yes! That's it, that's them and it was you
I’m not sure she would need to say all that: surely she would just say “Boo, I guess” after having been recognised, thanked for everything she does, and given the coffee for free in gratitude.oh lolol!!! Coffee Vendor: "We're gonna need a bigger cup"
Too much cheese before bedWhat does it mean???!!!
Hasn't Jack referred to a book token she won for writing a story while still in primary school as some sort of evidence for somethingPretty much all the stuff she's "known" for, like winning awards and being an actual campaigner and charity ambassador, is now at least five years in the past (Big Linda's pinkwashing prizes don't count). It doesn't have anything like 120 recipes, whether new or not - a brave frau counted them in January, and there are only 80-something recipes.. You only get the advertised number if you include each of the home hacks individually. To be fair, the subtitle on the cover is "Over 120 delicious, money saving recipes and home hacks" - which is a great example of guest's tricksy wording.Someone in that last thread mithered about Grifty Kitchen having 120 new recipes and I would like to stand by my suspicion that she deliberately nixed her website in order to reuse the last few years of tit she’d posted on there in the book…
Yep, award winning writer back when any div could be awarded a prize for merely entering a comp.Hasn't Jack referred to a book token she won for writing a story while still in primary school as some sort of evidence for something
Or too much Tattle!Too much cheese before bed![]()
When I was about 11 I entered a poem into a competition and was delighted to receive a letter saying it would be published - in a book which would cost just £40 per copy, and my entry cost me only £10 (or somesuch amount). "Between a Laugh and a Tear" was the title. Ha! I've just found it on Amazon.Hasn't Jack referred to a book token she won for writing a story while still in primary school as some sort of evidence for something
I have a poem published in a book, which I still have a copy of. I wrote it when I was 9. I showed it to my children recently when I was cleaning out the garage and they thought it was brilliant and that I’m really talented (preens).Or too much Tattle!
That Postiive News response is the laziest I've ever seen. You asked for evidence of her work with CPAG, not if it said on their website that she was an ambassador. Surely they did more research than that?

I think they published every single poem they received. It took me a long time to figure that out, though. I was convinced I was a Published Author.
I was thinking along similar lines - that swapping "salt" for "pepper", or "penne" for "spaghetti" etc probably counts as an entirely "new" recipe in her (literal) book. It’s a good theorybut I think you’re probably giving her too much credit ninny.
I’m still convinced that she’s very fast and loose with her definition of a recipe.
I couldn’t sleep much so was grunking old threads and on one she suggested something particularly funny to a poor squigthey wanted to know what to do with tinned chicken in white sauce as they were just having it with rice for tea, but wanted to ‘jazz it up’.
Her suggestion was curry powder and mango chutney (firstly duck off, guessing she was going for a coronation chicken vibe but swing and miss as per) but if they didn’t have the chutney then…..
Marmalade
Anyway back on point, to Jack that’s two separate recipes! Another job well done. (And I highly doubt either were tested)
Can someone enlighten me about Iqbal? You forgot to ask about Iqbal!
