Tbh I should be doing a load of writing - including tonight after kid bedtime - instead of distracting myself (OH DEAR, AM I TURNING INTO JACK?) so I kind of hope for no chaos.

Coming from the past and I know you will have already picked up but there is a Dr from Scotland that’s done a huge thread about how excellent Jack is. She’s definitely working class, has definitely caught up on all re patron rewards and has become a patron of her too. If he was the last dr on earth I’d take my chances with being ill given his absolute blind loyalty and inability to think critically.

He outlined four issues that 'trolls' have picked up on 1) is she working/middle class 2) was she ever as poor as she said she was 3) Patreon 4) Kickstarter. Weirdly missed out Sue Lee.

Not the doctorates thing again. At the risk of watermeloning myself, I got part way through a PhD but left before the end, they are bloody hard work and people who have them (non honorary) have gone through years of every word they produce being torn apart by their examiners. Jack would never get through a viva, it's hours of defending your work to a panel of experts. Because we acknowledge that important things NEED to be questioned to make sure they stand up to opposing views.

I too am the child of a narc mother and believe me, when the scales fall from your eyes as they will do as the child grows up and is exposed to new people/experiences/sees his friend's mothers etc, there's no going back. I was told by my mum that she was an amazing parent, she told anyone who'd listen that she was an amazing parent but when it came down to the real stuff, she was shite. Everything was performative, I dread to think what she'd have been like if she had Twitter. She was also a chronic liar and gaslighter. I'm still being gaslit now about stuff that happened in my childhood. So I distance myself. A phonecall a week, the odd visit. But she tells people we're best friends.

Jack is a selfish cunt. What memories of his mother will that poor kid have to look back on? Her glued to her phone tweeting lies and shit and checking to see if she's breathing? He'll look back on this in this thirties and resent her hard.

When I was a teenager and my parents separated, my mum moved up north. And it took me weeks to realise the ice cream man, who was coming round at really odd hours all through winter was selling drugs as well as ice cream I remember being baffled, and also wondering why he only had a little bell and not a horrible blaring one. Proper channel 4 Shameless shit. my mums girlfriend told me he did E’s, weed and coke and saved me from my confusion.

The first flat I lived in up there was a block with 6 flats. The other 5 were all drug dealers too, each of them did a different drug

Mums neighbours were…. Colourful. I remember one night about midnight the bloke above my mum decided to do a spot of DIY (he started ripping his bathroom out to replace it, the fucking walls were vibrating) and then the guy from downstairs came up to see what it was. Went up past ours and his mrs was at the bottom of the stairs screaming “IF YOU WERE ANY KIND OF MAN YOUD CUT HIS FUCKING THROAT OPEN” We were like fuck calm down that’s a bit harsh

I miss that estate.
