That £20 shop genuinely makes me think Jack must rarely consistently cook, for 'family' or herself.
The lack of protein or decent carbs, but buying biscuits, custard and other snacks is more how I used to shop as a student for myself. Random cheap 'healthy' stuff, kidding myself I'd eat it, then treats. No actual meals.

OMG OMG OMG THIS IS MY ACTUAL ANEURYSM

I am actual prisoner Frau of 3 years. I now work in the criminal justice system myself 🔺 She knows nothing, absolutely nothing about the complexities of food and nutrition in the prison estate.

It’s not a case of making up slop recipes. There are addicts with nutritional needs, very poorly people on the hospital wing, ladies who have just had babies, geriatrics with individual needs. On top of that the governors are trapped within a budget, depending if the jail is either privately or HMP run.

it’s a minefield that requires a whole load of professionals to pick through which they mostly can’t do very successfully. It’s an absolute headache for the Independent Monitoring Board and the Ministry of Justice.

And she’s claiming they are consulting ‘Jack Monroe’ behind the scenes????????

Which prisons is she apparently working with? Is she consulting with Sodexo?

That’s it I’m dead ☠☠☠☠☠

It’s just one horrible, distasteful lie too far. I work with the charities that do hard slog day in and day out to campaign for prison reform - particularly food and healthcare. And here she is inserting herself into something she knows absolutely nothing about. bleeping gruesome little woman.

It's pure balls, isn't it. Where's the protein, or is there a magic tofu puddle now? One tin of chickpeas and a block of cheese won't feed three people 42 meals, generous or stingy. I reckon that shop might feed a serious dieter for a week, at a pinch. They would be hungry but they'd definitely lose weight.
It's not even a real block of cheese it's 10 dairylea-style cheese slices (think 'American cheese'). Not even sure how you'd use these in a meal with any of the other ingredients, unless they were simply for a kid's snack or something. But at 1/5 the price (55p vs ~£2.50) of real cheddar cheese slices it does pad out the basket.

My good friend has terminal cancer. Because headscarves worn in that way look very cancer patient like, she doesn’t bother, she wears a soft towelling sort of knotted turban hat, it suits her a lot. She only tried on the itchy NHS wig once 🤣

JM in my opinion knew exactly what she was doing running the long game with sickly looking drained photos and shout outs for oncologists (would you trust someone saying they were a doctor on socials? Ring the hospital - private or otherwise - Google it or contact Macmillan)

I bet in the history of her posts she’s referred to being tired, not good health wise to do recipes or whatever, all in the vein of ‘serious illness’ but with enough plausible deniability to get out of being outed as the bloody munchausen goodwill trickster she really is.

I see my poor friend struggle on her 20th round of palliative chemo and she asks for nothing from anyone (obviously we do support her but it’s never requested or expected).

Then I see this snide, snobbish poverty artist allude to serious illness and no doubt the virtual tip jar overflows with sympathy. She makes me sick and no amount of deluded JM stans on Twitter will ever change that.

For what it's worth, a Google search for mentions of "jack monroe" on the Asda website brings up three results.
google result.PNG

Two of the results link to an article from 2019 "Helping us to raise awareness with her new collection of recipes made with tinned food is author and blogger Jack Monroe, who knows all too well how it feels to go hungry". " We are selling an exclusive edition of Jack’s new book, Tin Can Cook, featuring 10 extra recipes. For each copy sold, 40p will be donated to the Trussell Trust".

The other result is a press release "Asda to introduce full Smart Price value range in all food stores and online".

She's appropriating recipes from prisoners now? How low can she go? Prison tamales have been a thing for nigh on fifteen years or more.

Jack invented them, then the prisoners led by Fingers Kerridge and his gang stole them.

This frankly weird argument between the squigs and the so-called sock is still going on 😴

I was convinced it wasn't 🧦, but is this a dead giveaway?!

💯 on this Jelly, just looking at that shop gives me the kind of indigestion I got when I left home and thought I could live on crisps, biscuits, finders crispy pancakes and a couple of tins of sweetcorn. Most of that fresh stuff will be binned or found as a “manky mushroom” hiding in her fridge, for some performative recipe bs in a few weeks. It’s really incredible that this is a 34 year old mother who’s written 6 cook books 🤷‍♀️ Da fk is she on?

Watching too much American TV in other people's homes on account of having no TV or WIFI 🥺.

Prison tamales are the last thing Campaign Jack should be thinking about. She's ON IT for a £20 meal plan 🥰
