This could be interpreted as her being privileged enough to be able to fail because she knew she had a safety net. Incidentally, does anyone know what she did between 16 and 18? If she failed her GCSEs I’m assuming she didn’t go into the sixth form at her grammar school.

It might be the one time I would have to watch Strictly. With my laptop on my knee for the live Frau commentary. It would be *chef's kiss*!I’m torn on Strictly, the publicity it would shine on her would be good, but I love Strictly and would not enjoy seeing her on it, her being chummy with Claudia and getting all quavery voiced during the judging would be.

Last night I took part in the Big Benefits Row on Channel 5, if only as an audience member.
If she has got strictly then she’ll have to stop pretending to have severe arthritis etc.
Someone who apparently needs beds in the front room and sticks and carrying up the stairs etc etc isn’t going to be able to keep up with the training and rehearsal needed for something like that so she’d best get her miraculous recovery story in gear shortly.

This. If I had ducked around at my grammar school my super smart Gran, who was made to leave school and get a job at 13 because her family needed the money, would have smacked me till her hand was sore. People who’ve lived with genuine economic instability and had chances taken away by circumstance know that you need to grab every opportunity you get. And even then nothing is guaranteed.
Every person I know who has ducked around in school/uni/job-hopped and then somehow landed on their feet has come from a comfortable background with multiple safety nets. She can’t even see that, which speaks volumes about the level of privilege she lived with.

I'm delighted that after DKL, the lingreeni, Hellmans and chicken/pineapple, someone has been foolish enough to commission Jack to appear on TV, providing more laugh-along material.
