A very long (but interesting) read about writers, plagiarism, narcissism and social media if anyone is interested! It put me in mind of Jack at times.

Whenever I see the £20 food basket it always makes me think of that 60s song, Grocer Jack. Wish I was tech able to provide a you tube link.

Just a basic PAYE witch here, so no idea what would happen if Jack actually does have a job..would there be any connection between any taxpaying on said job and the unpaid company taxes? Should the HMRC's ears be twitching?

My all time favourite thread title is Jack Monroe #194 She only came back cos we were about to put out an album... sometimes it pops randomly into my head and makes me snort 😂

No, essentially the company is treated as a completely separate 'person' to Jack. The company does accounts for Companies House and pays corporation tax, Jack as an individual will do a self assessment return to HMRC and pay income tax plus Class 2 and Class 4 national insurance. Her employer will take care of the tax on earnings from her part-time job, but she'll have to report the income from it and the tax and Class 1 NI paid on her self-assessment form, as it'll have used some of her personal allowance up.

Hmmmmmmm, I wonder if the Patreon money is being paid to the company rather than Jack as an individual? That would explain quite a lot.

Maybe the patreon money goes into the Go Henry account! Speculation only your honour, but that would be a way to hide it from the tax man?

I don't know when she filmed this, but feed your family for a fiver...

Bonus shots of the crappy bungalow too.
The first line of that article 😆
'Well known' (really?)
'an outspoken journalist' (lol)
'activist' (as if)
'acclaimed food writer' (wtf?)

Perhaps this article is from a parallel universe, where Jack can in fact cook and actually is well known etc 😮

Since i have been on here, i have asked my inner circle about her cooking/ activism and about 1 person for every 5 i asks knows of her and about the majority of them just go i think i seen her on something. Didnt fancy what she made though. One friend said it was an awfully complicated way of making food and the end result didnt look that nice. 🤷

One or two of them rate her but when i asked them what they liked they just said she seems really lost in life and they felt bad for her. 🤷

Is she still employed by On A Bootstrap Ltd? Sometimes there are two employees, sometimes one.

No way of telling whether she is or not. It would be a handy way to get her national insurance paid if she was - one thing self-employed people have to be careful of is that we make enough NI payments throughout our working lives to get the full state pension. I need to do a check, I think I've got a couple of years missing from years when there was more going out over all my various self employments than there was coming in and I need to top them up before they time out.

I'm from a small place in the south of England. I've noticed that my friends have started saying they are going 'To Town' instead of London. It is really embarassing and makes me cringe. There are maybe a hundred towns between us and London, which is obv a city.
It makes me cringe when the term”up west” is used(Eastenders) instead of “the west end” which is how Londoners refer to the area around Oxford,Regent and Bond St.
