These threads move so quickly that commenting on the Owen Jones video seems like old news. I loved how she made herself the focus of it once again. Apparently she had several strongly worded hone calls with Chartwells where they asked for advice on what to put into the boxes. Of course Chartwells would ask her advice, school meals have very specific nutritional guidelines and she would understand them far better than someone employed by their company or a nutritionist who works on school meals.

It's strange she never mentioned these phone calls at the time.

I'm honoured to have my first thread title, I feel like I have arrived!

My daughter said the same thing. She's been working overtime at the vaccine clinics. The over 80s couldn't thank the staff enough, some of them saying it was their best day for a very long time.
I’m only 32 but had to shield. I started crying after because even though it’s not a silver bullet it’s a little bit of hope that this might be over sooner not never.

we’ve had to delay having kids because being pregnant and CEV during a pandemic was just a NO.

Hey, I got behind with the thread, like an absolute prune! In the last thread someone (MrsMopps) asked me for socks source, it's Jasmine Silk; https://www.jasminesilk.com/lady-si...jKIjXvbe2b51euc5nrRHrHPckkpGwOzhoC4u0QAvD_BwE These ones. They dry proper quick after washing so I started with just two pairs and slowly built up a collection because I like all the colours.

I'm mid-30's and got my invite to be jabbed next week, has me pondering why they class me as high risk, I want to take some cakes now too.

(Sorry for derailing thread!)

Back to JM. The vegan debacle is going to be an albatross around her neck now. That's why people are cluing on to her nonsense. Good I say. She misrepresents so many things, she needs taking down a peg or too.

Going back to Nadiya, she really is the mirror that shows Jack up for what she is. I follow her on Instagram and she is very open about her problems with anxiety etc without making any excuses. Her husband openly adores her (they had an arranged religious marriage in Bangladesh which wasn't legal here as they are both British so a couple of years ago they went off to the registrar and married again, "this time for love"), gorgeous children with age-appropriate behaviour and likes but who have been taught to cook - and do so for the family by choice - and who take part in the weekly house cleaning. She is close to her siblings and parents and her sisters often interact with her on SM. She has been open about how lockdown has affected her mentally, particularly due to being unable to see her family as they come from large families, the in-laws have large families, there are several elderly and vulnerable people in the network, and so on so they have chosen to be rigid about bubbles.

Right from the start of GBBO, she was open about how her heritage influenced her baking due to her mother's cooking. She has also spoken about colourism in the Asian community as well as more general racism and Islamophobia. Her anxiety is well documented.

She has published gorgeous cook books with food that has actually worked and which looks lush, had several television series which have also gone down well in the USA, has partnerships with brands which are both food-related and not (such as Swarovski), and is generally a happy, likeable and genuine person with both personal and professional social media where she never needs to delete anything due to a chaos. Oh, and she has happy hens and a family cat too.

Compare and contrast that to Jack, who lives a lie of performance poverty, lies about her history, has had a series of partners, treats her son appallingly, can't cook for [sausage] toffee, is dreadful on television and social media, has fraught and weird relationships with her siblings and parents, playacts with her heritage, is cruel to various pets by neglect and more actively, plays fast and loose with Covid-19 regulations, jumps on every [delayed] bandwagon, has a ghastly presentation, doesn't know who she is, and generally is a total pillock and bleep.

Sorry about the long essay, but Jack would do well to compare and contrast herself with Nadiya in all aspects of her life
Well said!
I also remember in her first series when preparing the food she hinted at ways to do it frugally, mentioning her parents wouldn’t overuse oil because it was so expensive etc. Not in a ‘my family was POOR!’ type of way, just a subtle recognition that they had to be careful.
She has a lot of class.

Blargh.

Somebody needs to show this guy the UNICEF guidelines that very clearly state that foodbanks do not give out formula, there have always been very strict rules around formula.

SB was also at an age where he could ask for bread and jam and why mummy was not eating so was too old for formula which is for infants under 12 months.

This is one of her most disgusting lies.

There is something I find difficult to like about OJ, he just irritates me. It was a toss up which one annoyed me more but going to say Jack as she spoke more. Same half truths as ever - as others have said I think all the stories are exaggerated versions of what actually happened.
OJ is a knob. He seems to have absolutely awful guests on his show. It was Frankie Boyle the other week.

Shows what a tit journalist he is really. He let her blather on, uncritically and obviously did zero research before talking to her. I'm surprised he let an Express columist on. Usually he tries to avoid talking to anyone who might have a slightly different opinion to him.

Still laughing at wearing a £250 jumper (or knockoff of such) to talk to one of the country's most vocal socialists.

I adore Nadiya. Seems like such a lovely person and her food always looks delicious!

Randomly watching THAT MAN chatting up Mary Berry and Mr V reminded me his nickname in our house is ‘Nonna-botherer’ after his habit of being overly attentive to elderly Italian ladies when trying to crib their recipes.

On topic - Jack is exhausting. No problem having a fancy jumper - I love a jumper - insert gif of David Rose rearranging his knits - but not when you are begging on Twitter because you are POOR

I know this is such a minor point in the clusterfuck of Jack’s lies but...isn’t one Weetabix totally adequate for a toddler? As an adult two can be more than enough, I don’t think SB was some hench toddler eating her out of house and home

I'm not in a state of poverty now, comfortable enough, but did grow up with money issues due to my parents bad decisions, so to this day, if I have something fancy on (i.e anything that cost more than £20 or obvious branding) I can't help by say how I found it in a charity shop or got discounted in sales. I'd never want to be how my parents were with money, and just can't justify some purchases. I loved the small bubble of tier two we had in London, my local charity shop had so much stock, everything one pound. Whole new wardrobe with no where to go!

Jack isn't in poverty, she is bleeping awful with money, like my parents are, her son is going to have such resentment later in life.

My toddlers would happily eat two, it's part of the pov cosplay though isn't it?

Wilkommen.
It is a horrible feeling isn't it? Feels a bit like having your purse nicked and finding out your mate did it. You will find that nearly all of us came here the same way. We were Squiggles and we all found the light.
I would recommend bookmarking your place here and then going back to the beginning. If it all gets too much I would suggest skimming through and reading the recaps at the start of each thread.
Although you MUST read #31 where Jack herself visits and proves herself to be as vile as we always thought x
I came here after having the opposite assumption about her!

I knew nothing of her "origins story" or background. I only knew of her as an irritating "ex-vegan" trend hopper who anti-vegan people seemed to love. My impression of her was that she was a very middle-class, woke, educated leftie type. I was astounded to learn that she was supposed to have been a poor, working-class single mum and food bank user, which led to me doing some digging.

Depends.
You could send the link and not mention Jack. Tbf Tattle rules are vague and other threads don't appear to be a stringent as this one.
I wouldn't bother though. It goes against the unwritten rule of this thread of keeping Tattle on Tattle and let the Squiggles work it out themselves.
Also, it would fall on deaf ears. The Squiggles just wouldn't listen and you'd get dog piled on xxxx

Agree @MooBelle

The squiggles won't be told. Sadly it's a realisation you have to come to yourself.

Hello new canal members. You have chosen the red pill. Welcome to the real world 😂
