It's very true though, especially the last reply. Oxford aren't interested in people for whom the most interesting thing about them is that they went to Oxford. Let's be real, there's nothing particularly interesting about him anyway so...According to thegradcafe, admission decisions are indeed in the midst of getting released: https://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=oxford
Found this gem on twitter btw, who of y'all was this?I hope he saw this.
I think people forget that when employers look you up they can and will check these things- you just KNOW he'll have put the StudyTube project on his CV but when an employer checks it out they'll quickly see that he stopped doing it.Interesting that he's deleting/privating all evidence of Oxford stuff - pretty sure that means he's been rejected. Next time he does a Q&A on Insta, at least one of us should submit that question.
Also took a look at his LinkedIn - when he said he was a research assistant in his recent video, I presumed it would be academic research (i.e. assisting with data collection/analysis etc.). Nope, it's basically assisting an author to find sources for a self-help book. The irony.
He also lists the StudyTube Project as a current project - pretty sure it's defunct now as the novelty of lockdown has worn off; the last upload to the official channel was over 3 months ago.
Exactly. Just because he was the first person to think of a large-scale collaboration doesn't mean he orchestrates the whole thing, or is the chairperson or whatever. Literally every social media about the TSP stopped being active 3 months ago, so either everyone got bored of it, or he's keeping the account info to himself so no one else can take over (and therefore share the credit).I think people forget that when employers look you up they can and will check these things- you just KNOW he'll have put the StudyTube project on his CV but when an employer checks it out they'll quickly see that he stopped doing it.
This actually happened a few weeks ago I think, I was going to post on here about it but assumed you lot already knewOMG you guys he literally deleted ALL of his videos and tweets about Oxford/rejection... on the 3rd Feb 2021 his social blade lists a loss of 800k or so views - which I reckon is the two Oxford rejection videos. I'm thinking he didn't get in for the MA (his third rejection) and was so frustrated he just wanted to cut the 'reject' tag he'd earnt himself. Why is he being so shady about it all and trying to obscure the truth?
Should have thought of that last year really. For the MSt English courses according to Gradcafe and TSR forum it seems like a lot of people are still awaiting a decision. It seems like they did send out some offers and waitlist offers on Friday and today, but no one has reported a rejection yet. And from previous years it seems like they usually send out offers first and then the rejections a few days after. Doesn't mean they're aren't any rejections already, maybe people just aren't reporting them. But considering he unlisted the videos weeks ago it could've been because he didn't want them to appear if the admissions team went on his channel, rather than a reaction to getting a rejection.
Are they down? I’d have thought they’d be up this year, with people taking a year out last year etc... although I kind of doubt he’d take them down if he got in, surely that’s a reason to leave them up like “look! I was rejected twice but third time lucky!” I’m sure he’d find one of his awful puns to make a joke about itYeh I hope he hasn't got in because we all know he'll be insufferable but honestly I guess he might have taken them down because he did get in?Wouldn't be surprised as Oxbridge applications are right down because of the pandemic so less competition than last year and they still want those tuition fees...
I would hope so, what I don’t get is he wants to do screen writting, so I don’t get why he.me not apply for masters in that?Do you think he has applied to more unis this time? I reckon he has, as he seems pretty desperate to have study tube content again.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s applied to courses in London as a back up option, like Kings College for example - he definitely does want be a studytuber again for sure.Do you think he has applied to more unis this time? I can just imagine him being like don’t you know I’ve written a book, even narrated the audiobook myself, don’t you know who I amHe's been very quiet about his applications this time around, which does make me wonder if he only applied to Oxford. I wouldn't put it past him to put all of his eggs in one basket again and assume that his persistence will pay off.
Imagine the admissions officers noticing his name and sighing, "it's his third time applying now! What a sweet, driven, persistent boy. We just have to let him in this time". Like yeah, no, that's not how it works.

It could be due to the fact that Oxford is more well known internationally. For example, they've got The Rhodes Scholarship, which is pretty much the most prestigious scholarship in the world. Also, Oxford is older, so people might feel that Cambridge is the knockoff school.Ok forgive my ignorance, but why is it Oxford that all of these studytubers seem obsessed with? Just find it interesting that far more of them seem to apply and go there over Cambridge.
There also seems to be a stigma about how “easy” it is to get into Cambridge (it’s by no means easier) but it can be seen as “easier” than oxfordOk forgive my ignorance, but why is it Oxford that all of these studytubers seem obsessed with?
