This is interesting, regarding Reddit. Especially in view of the fact you can sign up to the site as a 13 year old and there remains a large contingent of abuse porn/ rape porn / underage porn subreddits (even some of the names of these are disgusting), some hidden, some not. It's only female subreddits who question it that get banned.

I had no idea about the GM thing, but it makes perfect sense.

Someone posted this on Twitter re #reddithateswomen which I thought summed it up perfectly:

Personally I liken it to any criticism of Israeli apartheid being shouted down as anti-Semitism when it is in fact anti-Zionism.

Former Israeli minister Shulamit Aloni said the following when she was asked about the term 'anti-Semitism': "Well, it’s a trick, we always use it. When from Europe somebody is criticising Israel, then we bring up the Holocaust. When in this country [the US] people are criticising Israel, then they are antisemitic."

You can't criticise Israel's treatment of Palestinians without being branded anti-Semitic and you can't speak up on women's rights and protections being eroded without being branded transphobic or a TERF.

Not wishing to derail the thread with this post, just sharing an observation. 😉

New thread name suggestion: J. K. Rowling: She Who Cannot Be Cancelled

🤣
Can we make it J K our queen: she who cannot be cancelled

that article has made me feel so emotional. I have two little girls and I am terrified of the world at the moment.

Of course!

Which article do you mean? I agree it's a very scary time. They want us to keep quiet and accept what they are pushing, but it's so important we stand up and speak out. Not just for us but for the future generation of women like your little girls and my nieces.

Interesting that the men complaining on Twitter about the inclusion of a transgender model in the Sports Illustrated annual swimsuit edition aren't getting even a fraction of the abuse that JKR is.

Yes I haven't seen too many disgusting threats of sexual violence directed towards any of them...strange isn't it? What could be the reason? 🤔🤔

I can’t get my head round how much hatred they have towards women compared to men with the same opinions. Is it simply a case of they hate women because they desperately want to be us and know deep down they never ever will? Their hate is so violent and deep that it frightens me.

And this is what seems really obviously backwards to me about this whole thing; they think it’s progressive to see a girl who doesn’t like girly things and diagnose her with gender dysphoria, prescribe a load of drugs off label that we don’t know the longitudinal effects of yet, or worse suggest bits of their body is operated on...all because she didn’t like pink and ballet? This is the most extreme entrenchment of gender stereotypes hailed as progressiveness. When I was a child I hated pink and anything girly too, I used to insist on wearing black men’s clothes and wanted my hair short. As an adult I’d say I’m much more ‘feminine’, I wear make up, perfume, have long hair, I’m also heterosexual so it’s not even like all kids like this will end up gay either! Sometimes it’s just kids being kids. I worry what they would’ve said about little girls like me these days.
You’ve absolutely hit then nail on the head with this post. Now watch the hard, “you can’t say that” types of the feminist, non-binary and transgender groups eat each other alive as they contradict one-another’s cause.

I think it’s the exact opposite of that. They hate us and they fear becoming us, so when a man transitions to “become” a woman, the other men really viscerally need to believe that he was always really a woman. Transwomen ARE women to them because they have to believe that they were always ours not theirs. If not, what does that say about other men? It could happen to them next.

Oh my god. What is this? A gossip website filled with some serious, thought-provoking discussion by women who aren't afraid to stand up for themselves? I have found my people! Imagine my surprise as I absent-mindedly clicked on the "celebs" forum after heading over from the "gurus" forum, thinking that people in this thread would be obsessed SJWs on a crusade. Instead, I find this breath of fresh air. :)

I support JK Rowling 1000%. I, too, think this madness is insane. "Oh, you're probably just a boy!" people say to girls who like traditionally "masculine" things, "just transition...." What a step backwards. It makes me so damn uncomfortable. There is no right or wrong way to be a girl, and why does it alway seem like women--never men--suffer in the gender wars?

The job advert above is just one example of where the lines are becoming blurred. Personally I wouldn't feel comfortable discussing sexual violence with a trans woman. Just as I wouldn't feel comfortable being strip searched by a trans woman police officer or airport worker. If this were to happen you just know that I would be deemed the unreasonable one for objecting!

I'm a member of an organisation that holds elections for certain positions, and a number of seats are reserved for women to ensure fair proportionality. There is one individual who stands as 'John/Jane Smith' (it literally says that on the ballot paper). He goes for the male seat and if he doesn't get that then he automatically goes in for the female seat also, and is usually elected.

I'm astonished every time I see it happen, that people are voting for someone who goes by John/Jane to a female seat and he is winning.
So, I'm from NYC and one of our local political seats was just won by a trans woman (basically, a dude who has made zero effort to be a woman, complete with wearing skintight dresses to show his junk off. Lovely.). He had actually protested to change a local "one woman, one man" law for elected officials and told those who disagreed with him to "suck [his] girldick." Such female behavior. And one of my other very politically active male friends had the absolute GALL to tell me this rule change was a good thing. I'm steaming mad over tit like this lately.

Welcome! I felt exactly the same way when I opened the thread and I was so relieved to see all the replies! 😊

Ugh, I'm very familiar with that photo. 🤢
It's fascinating how they want to be women and yet they always resort back to very infantile, male, dick related insults whenever anyone questions them. So much for their dicks causing them dysphoria... 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think you’re looking too deeply. For the hyper aggressive TRAs, my money is on an even split between mental illness and / or those who are misogynists who are treating us as sexual rivals for the affections of straight men and lesbian women.

Ever seen the crazy stuff men do to each other and their targets to get laid?

Also, it seems that there is an unpleasant undercurrent too as it appears from the outside that the trans movement is being slowly infected by the “MAP community” in the same way as the early gay rights’ movement had PIE lurking around too. Abbreviations: Paedophile Information Exchange featuring Harriet Harmon / Minor Attracted People. They really need to get their house in order and learn from the past.

The misguided men and women who support such individuals need to realise that women’s rights are not theirs to give away. TRAs can have their own separate rights and be treated with dignity, but without colonising our rights and infringing on our dignity.

Also, women are the soft target for the next big social justice fight. It’s hard to fight gay oppression in Russia and Uganda and the Middle East etc.

This us exactly how I feel. Safe spaces for trans people, unisex toilets in single cubicles, trans wings in women's and mens prisons, that's fine. Not pretending that anyone can be a woman because they put on a dress and decide they are one and allow them to access women only spaces just on their say so. And not discriminating against women who dont want to access spaces because someone who claims to be a woman despite being a fully intact biological male has been given access to it.

I'm sorry about the late post, but did one of you say that Emma Watson posted to J.K Rowling that she was sexually assaulted at the age of 20?
If that is the truth I find that very disingenuous, she worked with Weinstein on the film 'My week with Marilyn." She was in her early 20s at that stage, right after the last Potter film, Deathy Hallows 2.

And when news broke out a couple years ago she pretended like she didn't know anything. Saying that she stands with the victims.
.... If she's only coming out with this now for sympathy points, I find that really disgusting. She's been given so many times to speak out about her experience. Why does she finally decide to speak up now and not when everyone was on the #timesup #metoo movement?
And if it's true I'm not trying to deny her experience. I have no right to deny anyone's experience.

I also find it ridiculous that she and her fellow Potter cast, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint have come out of the wood work to bash on Rowling publicly. Without her they wouldn't have gotten their start, you don't bite the hand that feeds you. How does that make you look better, if anything it makes them look alot worse.

Watson was a Weinstein girl? And I thought it rich she did the Seth Rogan stoner flick whilst carping on about her brand of feminism.

Sounds like shes lost in showbiz and doesnt know which bandwagon to jump on first. She made a generic meaningless message about a violent male sex abuser she chose to work with but has thrown the woman who made her famous under the bus, now bringing up her own alleged sexual abuse at a time best able to detract from JKs own experience. Girl power Emma!
