but I don’t want to be so aspirational that I’m out of touch or inaccessible. If I’m too posh then I’m just unrelatable, unlikeable and ergo, not marketable.
as a luxury influencer I have to tread a fine line between making my audience envious of me, enough that they’ll buy products to be like me… but not so envious they resent me.
So I flip flop in my content. I’ll mention my “normal” middle class background while wearing outfits you can’t afford, makeup that costs a bomb from a flat with rent that’s 3k a month.
in the words of Samantha Jones, “If you're not wearing something the kids can't afford, how will they know to look up to you?”
