I was actually thinking of the protests around East Wall which were what end of 22 beginning of 23. The multiple tourist attacks started a while after, I think. Time is going way too fast as I thought it all happened around the same time.

Also I don’t think (correct me if I’m wrong) that local protests have made world news and have influenced why Dublin is seen as unsafe. Whereas the riots did make world news. Dublin and Ireland in general is just not as safe as it once was. It feels like violent crime happens on a daily basis now

I haven’t seen anything mention on the UK channels only the riots that they had to backtrack as being far right motivated when there were an equal amount of ethnic minorities involved, it looked more like a looting spree than anything else.

Yeah they were definitely not world news, it was a small local protest. It seems so quaint looking back now, when there’s been many more protests over the governments terrible handling of this
You didn’t hear about any of this (forwarding to the east wall section and 2022 onwards)? I think that started a shift, and is the reason behind what a lot of people think of Dublin now, and further protests around the country

I think it’s more the stabbings, the tourists being attacked (the American tourist was left with life changing injuries), murders (a Canadian tourist was murdered by two Romanians), an increase in youth gangs, junkies, assaults, repeat offenders due to lack of prison space etc that’s the reason for Dublin having a poor image
