Advising good personal security practices while traveling is standard for all countries. The US Department of State website currently says "Exercise normal precautions in Ireland."
That said, I'd be well up for McEntee getting binned!

This is the US alert from 2023 in full, it's pretty standard fare for a capital city, and good safety practices for anyone travelling.

Maybe it’s because I lived there so long I’m used to it but I still find Dublin so safe, the problem is people going to the “wrong” parts because it’s cheaper. That’s where you’re going to bit with crime. It’s like visiting London and going staying in brixton or Hackney (pre gentrification) . Dublins smaller so people book hotels around the inner city north side without doing research and wonder why they have trouble.
These type of headlines were beamed around the world including all the American stations there’s definitely been a marked deterioration in Dublin both in safety and cleanliness.

I remember this, it’s so ridiculous. Other countries expect Ireland to be all diddly diddly and Céad Míle Fáilte when there’s a serious problem with crime, poverty and drugs the same as every where else.
those articles were mainly around the time of the anti immigration protests weren’t they? Whereas the protests saw in England after Southport attacks were worse and on a larger scale.
Were they? I thought it was after the tourists were attacked? It’s obviously widespread but ironic that the north is packed with tourists even during rioting season , our tourist industry is built on the troubles
