Next series the winner will be designing a collab for The Range

On the earlier series didn't the owners/managers of the places used to have more say in the decision? I might have that wrong.
These days it's just Michelle, with her often quite strange ideas of what 'works' (those open books glued to the wall ) and an expert.
Though I always like it when Laurence L-B appears. He's (imo) honest but generous in his appraisals.

I don't dislike Michelle as a person, but I don't think she's been a decent judge for some time now. I really think the series needs a new judge as she's detracting from the show rather than adding to it.

I actually really like her as a person, her posts on social media are excellent, she's great at thinking about sustainability and practices what she preaches but she seems to have lost her enthusiasm for the show. I wonder how much say she has in the contestants, and if she's just a bit depressed at the standard dropping in recent series?

I ALWAYS think this about the stuff. I call it all dust collectors. Fine in your own home but not in a hotel. Cushions like that freak me out in a hotel because you know they’ve not been cleaned like bedding. Just grim. And what was with all those books on the wall, stupid idea. Imagine the dust!

Shitty brown should've gone or squiggle bed. That colour and the aggressive black line would give me a headache looking up at it. Not a calming bed area. A ceiling curtain would help screen off the bed area. The whole concept of studio apartments is always shitty and cheap. You shouldn't have to eat/sleep/live in the same tiny room. May as well live in a tent.

It doesn't seem worth the effort to end up with less than 20 black and white items for sale at John Lewis. Is the exposure worth a fair bit to the contestants?

I still follow Siobhan who didn’t win a previous series and it’s been a huge launchpad for her. She’s done a book, a range of wallpapers, even some swimwear. And some installations eg Christmas decorations at a big stately home, some retail shop fits etc. She lives in this amazing maximalist house and shares a lot of that content and she’s also become a bit of a plus size fashion influencer. I think if you’ve got personality and a strong viewpoint you can do really well, I hope Rita gets the same success.

I like Duran's colour scheme and the archway, it definitely gave an illusion of depth to the hut and was probably my favourite. I also liked Frankie and Jonni's huts and didn't mind Ben and Ajeet's. Hated the zebra floor one and papier mache Emeley's island blocking the view, ambivalent about Teo's minimalism and Lia's Amalfi tribute. Kate opting to waste vast amounts of time cladding a wooden hut with more wood was so ridiculous I can't believe she wasn't the first out.

Still think Michelle talks a load of old cobblers, but I love Alan.

The pop art room was great. Good idea having a door to practice postman and visitors, lots of dogs react to door knocks.
Felt a bit sorry for the liverpool lad cos hes never had a dog and was a bit disadvantaged in knowing what would suit dogs.
The bunk beds one I dont think that woman couldve done right for Michelle cos if she had designed for just small dogs it wouldve been too small for big dogs.
I love this show

Craig would never bend or compromise his style for the brief, and he definitely had an air of superiority about him.

Even the dog episode, it was super impressive but ignored a lot of the brief and client. the whole cartoon style added nothing for the dogs and in many ways was wasted time and energy. It was very well done, but irrelevant. The door idea and furniture scale helped him there.

i dont like the change of prize in the last two series as it immediately benefits the soft furnishings/interior decoration based designers rather than the construction/interior design designers.

Which makes me wonder, do these businesses go into this programme with the expectation that the designs will be crap? Are they paid to take part? Is the intention that the rooms need updating so it doesn’t matter if some contestants have a play around because they will just get proper people in afterwards?

I wonder if they are planning on refurbing anyway, are told that any damage will be put right and do it for the free publicity. The rooms they were doing up looked very dated and drab even for an old building.

I only had half an eye on the last episode so may be being unfair but some of them just seem to stick to what they've been doing every week

We just have to think the Interior Design Gods that Emily put down the paper mache this week.
