I can't get my head around this. India is an intelligent educated professional, who has given up her daughter to keep living with a violent alcoholic p*do.

I don't know why she appears to still be living with him - has he got something on her, maybe?

I really hope she hasn't chosen to live with her violent paedophile partner over her 16 year old disabled daughter.

Unfortunately, there are women who will always put men before their kids, for whatever reasons (won't put my amateur psychologist hat on) and despite their intelligence. E.g. a woman I know was abused by her father, but her mother pretended she didn't know what's happening and never acknowledged the abuse. We will never understand, nor would we want to, their reasoning and brain acrobatics they must do to continue as nothing's happening.

I just remembered, actually googled, her phrase about people without kids: “Small unpeopled life”. I'd put that poop emoji, but it has a smiley face, there isn't an adequate emoji depiction of a curd that is required in her case.

Yes, it’s depressingly common that people stand by convicted child abusers (and similar).

Without wanting to offend anyone I would guess most men with histories similar to Eric Joyce are very good at manipulating people.

I would also guess that despite India being a rich, educated and connected woman, her past relationship failures combined with other aspects of her life may have made her particularly insecure and possibly co-dependent.

Add it all up and I can see it as a plausible reason, although obviously it’s all conjecture and armchair psychology on my part.

Whatever the truth is, thank god her daughter has moved out.

Oh and India had the gall to mention how worried she is about her daughter starting back at school (Covid reasons, obviously) in her column today.

Absolute fraud.

He sounds a really nice bloke. (His wife must be, too). But what the duck is IK doing choosing to live witha paedophile and not her disabled child?

I can't get my head around the idea of being a mother who would be ok with that, no matter HOW lovely the father (he obviously is).

What. The. Actual. duck.

Maybe it’s like that thing - what’s ok if you’re r posh but not ok if you’re working class - 2nd language, class A drug habit etc etc ....standing by a paedohpile so chichi so bohemian.

Maybe the child was taken away from her. Could that have happened?

I see she’s written a thing about moisturisers this week ⛄.

In her other column today she wrote about how awful it is for there to be much fewer crowds and that autumns this year won't feel like autumn usually does because of Covid. We're in the deepest recession of modern times and that's the best she can come up with, in a comment piece for a broadsheet. It's crass, shallow and very telling of her myopic POV.

Her daughter’s father sounds like he was too good for her - IK. How did he end up with her in the first place?

I always spend autumn inside being cosy so she ought to get a bang on that with her peadophile.

Absolute tut. Money for old rope.

I like that people are still leaving comments about Eric on her twitter feed.

Me too. I stalk her periodically and am pleased to see people still needling her.
I would love to know what’s going on in her head. Must be some sort of breakdown. I can’t fathom her decision making.

I was just going to mention the Andrew O'Hagan interview. I always wondered what the hell he saw in her.

totally

I don't know why she doesn't take a break from writing her columns - maybe there's comfort in work but even if she's happy with Joyce, being parted from her daughter must be stressful for her? And I'm sure she's well aware of the judgment going on now, probably why she's only tweeting to promote her columns.

In an interview Knight's admitted to smoking during her last pregnancy so she's fairly practised at not putting her daughter first.
