This, and while a lot of people will be ‘friends’ with India due to her proximity to power, many who don’t need that have chosen to stay loyal anyway. It’s crazy.Surely you'd find yourself thinking, why are these people my friends - 6 billion on the planet and these are the people I'm choosing to spend time with?
Years ago I read a harrowing article in The Times about a woman whose tiny daughter was the victim of one of the dads in their social circle. Unfathomably, many mutual friends rallied around the man, said they didn’t want to choose sides, provided character witnesses in court etc. Despite NSPCC saying his modus operandi indicated it was not a one-off. It really stayed with me as an example of ducked up social dynamics, and that you actually can’t presume parents will put the safeguarding of children (even their own) first. People will find a way to justify anything if they want to.
Found it - a shocking read: https://archive.md/8V0JD
