Yes I specialise in neurology so yes I would be notified as the vet community is actually very small in the UK...
It's clear from the course you are supposedly taking that you are in the UK

It's not about having not enough places, it's about being able to thrive in the environment. Some people will not get in to veterinary medicine on their first attempt but most do on their second because they have gone away and upped their game as advised to do so.
Teaching hospitals/ referral centres work closely together. Biology is fluid hence the need to do this. We also work worldwide, so reach out to wider audiences so to speak
Your friend who can't get in, maybe there are reasons. Being a vet is one of the hardest jobs in the world, if you don't believe me then you just need to see the suicide rates.

If I wanted to lie about an occupation I sure as hell wouldnt say I would be a vet it's not glamourous, the lows usually out weigh the highs at time, you don't even make minimum wage when you work on call/nights due to salary structure and I have lost colleagues through stress. So yeah I could think of lots of occupations I would rather say I do, as it would be far easier.

*Those of you wondering how my pup is, we went for the referral today. She had all sorts of tests done and it was confirmed that the microchip was put in too deep. I already suspected it because the problems started a day or two after she was chipped. It's really rare apparently but it has been removed. Unfortunately she died on the table but the amazing vet team bought her back and she will hopefully be home in a day or two. I hand reared her because she was struggling to feed from mum and get enough milk as there was a very large litter so we're really close and I love her to bits.
To turn the story back to the s*** show...
