I’m always confused by how these people find their equally depraved soul mate. Fred and Rose West being another couple the same. I mean how do two people get into conversation about wanting to do such things to people and the other go along with it without actually reporting these people and thinking it’s a seemingly normal conversation. Years ago I started reading a book about the Wests. Didn’t get far as it made me sick to my stomach but they both had extremely ducked up childhoods.
Both had families where incest was normalised. They had an identical warped outlook and lack of boundaries from day one.
You can see how they reinforced each other’s perversions and then enabled each other to cross those lines from fantasy to acting out on them.

It’s a strange phenomenon where if neither met each other, neither of them would have gone on to commit these sorts of crimes. It’s much like a trauma bond with lots of tiny micro decisions and experiences that enable them both to move the goal posts on what is morally and criminally acceptable, their life becomes the new normal over time and become desensitised from stimuli they were practising before. The same pattern can happen with singular people too, it’s how men that use sex workers end up killing them, ‘normal’ men that use pornography end up convicted peadophiles.
The trouble is normal folk presume peadophillia is rare, when it isn’t. 1 in 6 men have accessed indecent images of children. Most of them nowadays due to the rise in hardcore porn addiction, they wouldn’t have ever been peadophiles if they hadn’t accessed the internet. I work with SOs and despite being labeled the same, there’s a difference in those that are romantically and sexually interested in children and ones that have no romantic interest and just have a need to exert power, control and sadism over the most vulnerable. The second one I believe is Watkins.
Peadophile hunters don’t lure them with images of children as that would be a crime. They use decoys pretending to be children and wait for the offender to initiate conversation.
The ones that make (download) indecent images will buy or swap their own with likeminded people on dark web or even telegram. Or they make their own using pictures of children usually on social media and manipulating images to look like CSA. Offenders are known to collect and store vast amounts of material. Which unless for financial gain I’ve always found odd as they incriminate themselves when caught. Watkins had 5TB of indecent images on his devices.
I believe it's the way that they are uploaded and stored. They are all in batches that's why it's such a large number when someone is up in court, it's very rarely a couple of images. I remember reading that somewhere that they are categorized and downloaded in batches
