I work in payroll outsourcing and always jealous of Belgian payslips! In Belgium
Hahaha I get that completely, it breaks my heart how much tax we pay but I always get money back at the end of the year when I file my tax return. I would rather pay more in my monthly salary and get a tax rebate at the end of the year. For reference, I pay about £1400 tax per month.I work in payroll outsourcing and always jealous of Belgian payslips!
Eh, yeah, let’s not talk about Belgian tax. Nightmare to process.Hahaha I get that completely, it breaks my heart how much tax we pay but I always get money back at the end of the year when I file my tax return. I’m glad you say that because honestly it’s a minefield! I have an accountant who works mine out at the end of the year because there are SO many things we can claim back.Eh, yeah, let’s not talk about Belgian tax. Nightmare to process.I actually think it’s impossible to calculate accurately.
I'm the sameJust got my payslip for April. Despite getting a 2.3% annual pay rise this month, I am actually taking home £33 less in my pay packet! Thanks to the UK tax rises. I know I can weather it, but what about others on less income than me.
Have you both asked for at least an inflationary payrise? You're getting a paycut. Fight it.I'm the same
2% pay rise and my NI has gone up by more than the rise
I'm public sector and we have local pay arrangements, so I'm lucky I'm getting anything.Have you both asked for at least an inflationary payrise? You're getting a paycut. Fight it.
I'm NHS so it's agreed nationally, they'll spend ages arguing over it so I'll be lucky to see it before the end of the summer.I'm public sector and we have local pay arrangements, so I'm lucky I'm getting anything.
I'm local government. NJC agreed 1.75% backdated to last April. But we were opted out of NJC years ago in favour of local arrangements.I'm NHS so it's agreed nationally, they'll spend ages arguing over it so I'll be lucky to see it before the end of the summer.
I got the NJC. After tax the backdated payments were rubbish anyway. Be interesting to see my payslip this week....I'm local government. NJC agreed 1.75% backdated to last April. But we were opted out of NJC years ago in favour of local arrangements.
So although we are getting 0.25% higher than NJC it isn't backdated.
People aren't very happy, especially as cost of living is massively on the rise
If you don't askI've posted here before - I'm a teacher (FE) and am currently earning 24k a year. I've just found out a colleague, as she has more experience than me, is on 37K for doing the exact same job as me! (I actually do more as I programme lead various units). I literally can't get over it, do you think I'd be rude to ask for a pay rise due to this? I'm on Mat leave at the moment but seriously considering it
NI threshold is going up in July so it’ll improve then.I'm the same

WTF that is an outrageous difference. Are you full time? 24k seems relatively low for full time. I hope you ask ASAP and I bet you will be successful. I’m not a teacher but, I remember when my friend started she was on around £24-25k then it went up in increments each year. She was on £30k by her third year. Not sure how far you are into it but, it’s definitely worth asking!I've posted here before - I'm a teacher (FE) and am currently earning 24k a year.
