I’m a HCA working for my hospitals bank, I work nights and earn £14.89 an hour week nights and £18.50 weekend nights, I work work 4 nights a week and take home around £1600/1800 depending what a work a month, my husband earns around £1800 a month as a team leader for a major online bingo company. We have 1 daughter and we live a comfortable life, we make sure our bills are paid, our a little away for savings and enjoy the rest every month!
Spelling mistakes are a given with no sleep 😂

With inflation running at 5.4%, I am wondering what pay rises people are getting?
I got a 3% pay rise this year. I thought it was better than nothing, but we weren't eligible for pay rises last year while the business recovered and we all took a 20% pay cut during part of 2020...so 3% has certainly not made up for it.

I suspect most people will be in the same boat of rising costs and no/not much of an increase. 😕

I am an accountant (work in the property industry) and earn £26k a year before tax. 😊

I'm confident payrises aren't going to be in line with this inflation

Weve not had a pay rise for two years. The company made 30 people redundant last year so I'm not expecting anything for a long time either. I'm on 21K but after my pension and other stoppages i take home £1,350 a month.

A cost of living increase is being “considered” but it will not be in line with inflation. I think it will be even less than the previous %

Just over £40k for specialist mental health. It's never enough! I'm always working towards more!

I'm genuinely amazed at some of my friends and how much they earn for not doing much at all. Obviously they work for private companies so explains some of it but still baffles me. You get paid £65k and your job is literally spreadsheets? You get bonuses, loads of time off and lots of company perks. It's not a big deal if you screw up. Not jealous at all!

Please tell me where these companies are 😂

I think our company was aiming for 3-5% however I got 7%. I have worked my ass off the last couple of years and we got news of our bonus today which I am extremely happy with. It is more than I take home monthly!

1% here, we get performance related rises but if we're already at the top of the scale we get next to nothing until other people who aren't as good catch up. Yes it stinks and yes I'm looking for a new job

HR recruiter at a startup company, no idea how much I earn per year cos I’m bad at math but roughly IDR 8.5 mio per month (somewhere around USD 750-800) 😊

Love this thread!

I work in Marketing, was being paid 19k (hugely underpaid for how qualified I am - I have a degree and been out of uni 3 years, mainly took the role to build up experience)
But I recently got a great new job offer, 30k per year plus bonuses, really proud of myself!! 🥳

Dad that grew up with nothing that wanted to give his children everything and there is nothing wrong with that.
I will do the same for my children for as long as I need to or can. I often get this exact reaction but I would like you to know there isn’t a single thing wrong with it. I still choose to work and invest my money correctly though I do not need to.
I completely agree.

I don’t work (full time student), my dad pays for my uni accommodation, bills, food etc.

There’s nothing wrong with your parents providing for you if they are happy to do so. Don’t understand the backlash at all tbh 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm not expecting much of a pay rise this year, but will hopefully get a bonus (as that's cheaper for the company)!

On the children paying rent at home thing, I personally did pay rent once I was working full time and if I had kids, I'd do the same. I wouldn't rip them off, but I'd expect them to contribute.

Finishing uni in April and hoping I can secure a full-time job earning £20,000 at a minimum otherwise I’ll be gutted and will feel like I’ve wasted my time doing a degree. Unfortunately for me, I want to work in education with vulnerable children and families which is always going to be underfunded and underpaid.

You may not go straight into the job you want, I think it’s quite rare for people to do that actually. Don’t be disheartened. It’ll work out in the end! Lots of people I know (me included!!) worked part time in retail after university until the right job came up.

Currently I earn £12k a year working 2.5days a week. But it's self employed and I don't get holidays, sick pay, etc. It's in the charity sector. Soon I'll be starting a new fulltime job in the arts sector that pays £32k. Husband earns 98k working in finance. We are very fortunate. I don't know what any of my friends earn though, it's like no one really wants to talk about it!
