She should move as far away as physically possible from her family, for a start. They are holding back her development.
She needs to shake the guilt attached to her productivity for sure, and moving away from home will just be the first step! Think she’ll also need to talk to someone to work through how she’s feeling too!She should move as far away as physically possible from her family, for a start. They are holding back her development.
She seems to do a great job in every video of emphasising her tiny little bubble she’s always been inI seen the latest vlog, how boring! Worried about the reputation of the University? I'd be more worried about doing an MSc in nutrition when you have an eating disorder...
I also think she had her heart fully set on her german application, and added in Wageningen just for an extra application. I don’t think she’s really that excited by going abroad now, probably because she got rejected and that’s just not what she’s used to. Sort of like she just added in a few extra applications for good measure because that’s normal thing to do.This is from the same girl who made up her undergraduate credits as she didn't know what they were.
I can't get over this - she has absolutely no common sense or problem solving abilities. I'm pretty sure that I remember her saying in one of her uni vlogs that she'd never used the career services either. What a way to waste a degree and your intellect. She needs some tough love far away from home where she's forced to socialise with a variety of different people who aren't just hard core vegans with potential eating disorders/ exercise fixations. This is from the same girl who made up her undergraduate credits as she didn't know what they were.
I had a lot of patience for Holly until she actually said that. She admitted that, left it in the video and then found out she actually just wasn't the right fit for the course and it was nothing to do with the credits. Jesus Christ, she lives on another planet. This is from the same girl who made up her undergraduate credits as she didn't know what they were.
yes Yes YES!Holly: ‘I don’t want to come across as big headed’
Also Holly: ‘I went to Cambridge, I got top of my class, I just don’t see what more I could’ve done’.
OH MY GOD HOLLY! That just annoyed me. It’s not JUST about your classing, or what university you went to. It’s actually based on your experience, the kind of person you are, what you have experienced in life. I think it’s clear from the modules she chose at Cambridge that she just wasn’t ever seriously thinking about nutrition, but more about medicine/research etc. Of course she was rejected!
It just really annoys me to see her so shocked about not being accepted into places. She might have not wanted to come across as full of herself but my goodness she really did, and alongside that, emphasising her tiny bubble, and lack of life experience.
Oh, and the fact that she was saying ‘now I can erase TUM from my mind’ as if she was hoping they’d just accept her after she called them (she clearly thought it was something wrong with them rather than her as an applicant). Like, you got rejected, move on.
I think this a drawback to Cambridge. Most science degrees in the UK now offer integrated masters, where you do an extra year and some more modules with a bigger research project. I did this and I know people who went straight into PhDs but also people who went to do additional masters. At Cambridge it’s seems a lot less common to do this, even though they offer it as a degree. Not to mention that students are actively discouraged to work alongside their studies, and they don’t seem to offer year in industry/abroad. They obviously produce highly intelligent graduates, but likely with a lot less experience than your average Russell Group uniI strongly believe her last video is the cringiest by far
No offence to any NatSci students but yea as I’ve said before the curriculum isn’t very good if you’re planing to “stay” in science and that’s pretty clear even from their booklet.
The NatSci graduates end up working in completely irrelevant fields, mostly bussiness and PR if I’m not mistaken
Yeah I have two friends in science and maths who went straight into PhD track programs- one went to Cambridge (and hated it) and they're both at other Russel Group unis now. In science surely it'd be better to get onto this track because the unis fund this and there's a lot of support to get through because it's a pretty clear pathway in the STEM fields?I think this a drawback to Cambridge. I was cringing watching it! She really wasn't expecting to be rejected, but they seemed to have rejected her on a number of grounds.I strongly believe her last video is the cringiest by far

Still can’t believe she’s actually oil free still too! The food must be so so sadI was cringing watching it! She really wasn't expecting to be rejected, but they seemed to have rejected her on a number of grounds.
Also, her food was so bland. No salt, pepper, herbs?!
I think often UK students are told that if you go to Oxbridge, so many doors will open for you etc etc. I think that’s true but only to an extent. The thing with German unis is that they have set requirements when it comes to grades and credits. Even though for masters they do sometimes want something similar to a personal statement or hold interviews, in the end, your grades and credits matter the most.
So basically it is impossible to get in if you don't have taken the required classes during your undergrad. For TUM's Master of Nutrition and Biomed they will require at least some nutrition classes and since Holly never took any in Cambridge it was clear from the start that she wouldn't get in? Which she would have known if she'd done her research or even just called the administration office. Also, it is not that common here to be overly impressed by certain unis. She literally would have had better chances coming from a non Oxbridge/RG-uni if she'd done nutrition there.
Something about her lately really rubs me the wrong way ... like yes, she graduated from Cambridge as top of her class but she seems to think that this alone will open all doors for her.
Which probably makes Holly feel worse that she didn't come out of uni with a decent job. She got so focused on her youtube channel that she forgot that she should've spent some time with the careers service and figured out her next steps. From my experience oxbridge graduates get really good jobs right after uni. Prestigious unis = high salary .
However if you’re planing to do reasearch , and more specifically reaserch in an EU university it’s go to be a struggle to get in.
Top unis are at the top because most of their graduates find decent jobs afterwards.High ranking is not synonymous to good curriculum and research prospects .
Plus I have no idea why she wants to do research. I recall her saying she hated the labs.
