On the other hand she’s 22 and just cut her own hair for the first time ...

She had waist-long hair .. she could have tried it at some point ...

I remember when i was at Uni most of us cut are own hair because we were constantly poor, it was a laugh doing it with friends but i guess been rich and at Cambridge the uni experience is completely different

Sure but I think many people/students/teens
cut their own hair as an experiment or cause ‘why not’

She could have trimmed hair long hair (that desperately needed trimming) it’s very easy when it’s that long ! No reason to go to he hairdressers!

Who hasn’t cut their own hair ?

Well you’re right maybe it’s my money-save money-saving mindset but I do find it fun

i wonder if she never cut her hair or did a family member cut it as surely super productive Holly cannot waste 1 hour plus at the hairdressers when she needs to be productive 24/7, shed bring her study notes and foot cycle for the full appointment id guess

I think Holly never cut it or went to a haidressers becuase she took pride in her long (dead) hair. When you have short hair you shouldn't cut it yourself becuase the margin for error is too high.

I used to have really long hair and I used to trim it myself when I was a teenager becuase I always hated how much the hairdresser cut off! Then I realised it needed that much cutting because it was dead as duck and I never cut enough off!

It's probably a similar reason for Holly, and long hair was an important part of her image, possibly because her mum didn't want her to cut it! (I imagine her mum being the type to be really controlling of what her daughters do with their hair!)

Lol I haven't because I know I'd make a mess of it. I did dye it myself though. Even when I was skint I still put aside money and went to supercuts to get it done.

Yeah I can't even cut in a straight line on paper. There's no way I'm touching my hair 😂 I only go to the hair dresses every 6-12 months so it isn't too bad nad have never dyed it so maintenance is low and it's health is good.

Yes! I think another reason for it was probably Holly’s level of wanting to control everything too. Her hair was a constant for her (despite how much she complained about it all the time) but I don’t get why everything is made SUCH a big deal with Holly.

You cut your hair? Okkk but once again, she’s trying to make everything a massive personality trait and it drives me insane. It’s as if she just doesn’t know what to do with herself when not working, and it’s just so so sad to see really. Even when she’s not working she always has to be doing something, for fear of her parents judgement, or at least fear of her own thoughts 🙄🙄

From Holly’s last video it really does seem like she uses being ‘busy’ to put off eating meals for as long as possible.

As much as her content is about food I really don’t think she’s a massive foodie at all. She never experiments with new and exciting recipes or ingredients, and eats the exact same thing (for breakfast and/or lunch) each day. It’s boring and bland, and she’s not what I’d consider a ‘foodie’. She’s literally orthorexic.

did she just promote the toothbrush as "toxin-free"?
Uummm... what ?!

It looks like there's some slight tension alopecia going on

Her food looks like something that would be served at a Siberian gulag.
but it has a ~kiWI floWeR~

I honestly feel pretty sorry for her masters wise. She's wanted to go abroad for a while now, and now she probably won't be able to live abroad as easily again if she doesn't go to Wageningen.

I think she should just bite the bullet and go for it, yeah it's not gonna be how she expected, but she will end up being able to live there and if she doesn't move to the Netherlands she'll regret it.. I would for sure

Exactly. Firstly for the price but also just to move on and get away! Might not be exactly the same but hey Holly probably would’ve stayed in her accommodation for most of the time anyways working so like, surely the difference work wise really won’t be that drastic

I think the ED questions are a bit more sensitive than the 'having a day off' questions. Let her get there in her own time, I think she's on the right track. And when you (potentially) have an eating disorder, you might not see yourself and your behaviour the way other people do. She'll get there.
While I agree that no one should feel pressure to discuss such intimate topics, she has CHOSEN to put her life on the Internet - not only that, she has actively chosen to focus much of her content around her food. Showing these disordered behaviours. And even if she isn’t consciously aware of them, she has seen comments from others saying so. She has been shown to delete comments from people expressing concern.

That alone will bring some level of awarness that she can’t just ignore - by doing so, she is complicit in presenting and unhealthy lifestyle to impressionable young viewers.

ps: I speak as someone with a history of anorexia - so I am under no illusion how “distorting” the illness can be and hard for you yourself to see. But I also would never have broadcast this on the internet.

If she came out and said "I don't think I have a problem" I'm sure she would be equally criticised. As someone also with a history of ED, I wouldn't put food content on my socials (I don't actually) but if someone ever picked up on it, I'd probably just say "Thanks for your concern, but that's a personal issue". You're right, she shouldn't be censoring the comments and normalising those behaviours. But I still wouldn't force her to address it.

Ultimately, she is the only person who can decide which parts of her life to share with us. I think (after yesterday) she's clearly open to sharing her struggles with us. If she chooses to discuss her eating disorder, that's up to her and I think she is probably aware of the criticism and taking it on board to some level.

In her latest video she was complaining about her choices for a masters and problems with lockdown and brexit. Then she said “it’s all down to me” well yeah it’s your masters, your time and your money - in what way would it not be your choice. She seems so immature, as an adult these choices aren’t made for you - shows that she also didn’t have another back up than Cambridge for her undergrad, she simply had to go there. If that was me I would be making a list of choices, fees, if you need a visa etc. But it seems like Holly hasn’t put that much thought into it.

I agree with this 100%! She has to be the one to determine what she shares, it is her life after all. But as you said, she is open to sharing and has included small amounts of her opening up in recent videos.

But I do also think that with her so called ‘brand’, and it being heavily focused on ‘veganism and lifestyle’, she needs to be honest if she’s got issues and address that if there is something not quite right going on with her, then people shouldn't be taking her advice. She wouldn’t have to go into depth either, but just say she needs to really sort out her behaviours, and strongly advise people against taking any advice from her when shes struggling herself.

It’d be a big step for Holly to do that though considering she thinks she’s recovered and totally okay (food wise anyway)... I think she mentioned that in the video where she tracked her food and it came to 3000 calories (bull imo).

And also, while she might not think she’s responsible for people taking her advice or perhaps even being ‘triggering’ for some people, she needs to realise that with a following comes a level of responsibility, even if that be to address her followers not to take her advice (as so far, all her actions have led her to injury and obsessive tendencies).

YES! I also thought this when reading her Instagram caption on her recent post about ‘having a river carved out for her’ and that only just now she’s ‘having to sculpt her own path’.

She’s in this tiny little bubble where she thinks going to university was just what she ‘had’ to do. Like you said, that was HER decision to go to Cambridge, she made that choice herself. Her approach to life at the moment is just so immature. It’s like she feels compelled to just do the masters because it’s the natural progression after the undergrad. I don’t think she’s even considered other options.

She might think she’s carving out her own path but my lord, she still lives by her parents expectations and her narrow minded view on the world around her. So immature.

Which is a massive shame I think. Don't really understand that pressure to be honest. I would have thought there would be pressure from her parents to go into the arts, not science communication or nutrition.

What could you see her doing? Out of curiosity.

I interpret it as being more of a pressure to just ‘do something’ or ‘be productive’ or ‘be successful’ rather than a pressure to go into a particular field!

And I honestly don’t know. She says she’s thought about going into documentary style things but I can’t really see her in that..... I can see her doing research based things, but then again, with her current rather narrow mindset I can see research being quite skewed with Holly.

Other than that, maybe working in TV elsewhere? I can see her maybe working behind the scenes doing outreach/advertising based things? Or something in the arts, not necessarily performing but maybe the more admin or advertising side of that? I really don’t know though!
