Am I the only one who doesn't see the point in purchasing a returns pallet?
To be honest, I had never heard of it before watching Graces video. Surely if people are returning electrical goods, there is a high chance most will be faulty?
It was an interesting video and I enjoyed it but £600 for what she got was awful.

I do vaguely find returns pallets interesting as a concept. Because there are people out there making a living doing this sort of thing. Returns pallets, storage lockers etc.

I just find most YouTubers make really tit videos of returns pallets because they have too much money to care.

Pretty sure many of them do with the intention of turning a profit by selling off the good stuff. It's kind of a win-win for them- they get content, get profit, and can look nice when they "donate" stuff they can't sell. I can see why it's popular concept.
I did appreciate that Grace said she found somewhere to take the electrical stuff for parts rather than just chucking it (I hope that was honest!) but it does seem super naive to buy that whole pallet because they showed you a photo of ONE coffee machine you wanted.

I've watched a few returns pallet videos recently, Grace really did get a dud. A family channel recently did one and they got 15 or more mini fridges, broken ornaments, broken toys. Then I've seen a smaller youtuber buy 2 at over 1k and she got Dyson hair products, shark vacuums, smeg toasters, nespresso machines etc.
It really is pot luck.

My theory is Grace saw the photo and kept bidding because she doesn't like 'losing' and therefore paid over the odds. She will make her money back on the video and because it was shown as a purchase for work, she will claim her tax back on it.

I wonder if she's a bit disappointed with how her channel is going in general? I wonder if she was a bit upset about her whole grackle tries thing, that turned into something quite underwhelming. As in, it didn't get many views. They were some of her least watched videos. She put a lot of effort into it, and for it to end up not doing well must have been upsetting for her. Like.. finally try something new, people don't like it. I would have been upset myself. I wish she hadn't given up so quickly though. I think being on YT has come very easily for her. She never had to push and grind that hard and it's starting to show now. Some creators have really had to hussle a lot to get to where they are now, but she got popular very quickly. I think when something doesn't work she quickly drops it and goes back to her safe space. It's really sad actually because I think she really enjoyed that short series a lot. If it's something she likes, why not keep doing it? Just stick with it. It takes a while for people to start picking things up, for you to get a new fresh audience who likes you for that special kind of content. That's just how things work on youtube, you constantly have to try and evolve or else people run away and nobody new will come in return. That is how some people (like Jenn Im for example) have been able to stick with YT for such a long time.
You see the same thing with the old brit cew. It came to them so easily, they are all failing right now because they are not able to hussle and work for it. It's pretty sad because they have some of the easiest jobs in the world.

I don't feel like effort translated into quality. The filming and audio in some of them was dreadful.

She’s spending quite a bit of money lately. That pallet £600 then recently she showed a, frankly amazing, capsule wardrobe service where a box is like £400!!!
I get she has likely no bills to pay but she must make some good cash from YouTube to afford these things.
I have a good paying full time job and I’d never in my right mind pay £400 for a box of clothes

Aha, some of her hotel stays are also v pricey!

Honestly I wouldn't trust most channels who do them, I have seen various of these pallet type things and influencers all seem to get amazing stuff while " normal" people just get crap

I wish she leaned more into "Grace Tries", maybe make it more of a production. Go to different little bakeries or cafe's, little restaurants and "try" to cook their menu and work there for a day. Advertise small business's and learn new things.
Would be much more interesting than cooking in the kitchen.

I looked at the site she bought from and it seems like most of their pallets include a list of contents with a disclaimer of 5% accuracy - she did get 2x Nespresso machines, just not the one pictured that she wanted so I'd say it was within 5% on that and the rest of it can't have been that much of a surprise.

I think you're right though, she saw that coffee machine, wanted it and just went for it.

the good thing abt buying big ticket items for content is there's a sense of clickbait and intrigue for the audience and then i'd expect her to claim that £600 back in adsense fairly easily. across videos where she spends little in comparison she's probs not losing any money

It’s hard to stomach how expensive bills are at the moment so it’d be nice to see her do a ‘£x for a week of meals’ type video.

Grace can actually cook and she eats a normal amount of food (which is so refreshing to see) compared to other YouTubers who eat like 500 calories a day…

She never usually talks about modelling but all of a sudden she’s like ‘I used to be a model and that’s why I enjoy watching this modelling show on iPlayer!’ Like ok, you never talk about modelling because it doesn’t fit the aesthetic of your channel but you’re happy to mention it for sponsorship money?
