She’s posted an ad for “sugar fix” sweets on her story yet when you go on their website there’s no mention of any of their sweets being vegan/veggie. She’s still vegan isn’t she - does she have no shame in promoting anything? She didn’t even post the sweets they sent her just a photo of the card in front of them - definitely trying to hide them

I'm so glad someone is explaining this. I also found the Group Seventy One stuff and was wondering so much about it. Btw I'm sorry if this is so noob but what is the difference between a limited company and one that's under a parent company? Is a limited company more independent and if there's no significant difference, what's the point of doing one vs the other?

For the directors of Group Seventy One, I see Jo and John - if I remember correctly, I think GG was talking about these two people. The third director is a (Portuguese) woman in Portugal

Edit: I'm also wondering how all of this fall together re: Grace being so much more transparent about Tala than Shreddy, B_ND (like featuring her employees, factories and stuff).

Edit: Okay for the companies you can see "persons with significant control" and in Group Seventy One, John owns "more than 25% but not more than 50%" of shares and has the power to appoint and remove directors. And Jo owns 75% + shares. Whereas with Rose Appellations and Shreddy, Grace is the only person with 75% + shares and the right to appoint and remove directors.

A limited company is an independent company where grace would be the director and owner of the company. If her companies are managed by a parent company she doesn’t really own her companies, they are owned by whoever the directors are for the parent company.

In other words, the companies she claims to have independently set up have actually just been given to someone else to manage and she’s just the face -she doesn’t have complete financial and creative control as she claims as the parent company can effectively stop this

I always wonder why Grace employs all white middle class girls to work for her company. I’ve wanted to ask her before, not in an attacking way but just out of genuine curiosity but from the way she responds to other people she just attacks them and screenshots it and puts it on her story to make it seem like people are hating.

for someone that promotes inclusivity so much I’m so surprised all her employees are the same type of person. Like it may be the case that no one applied from other backgrounds but I highly doubt that. She just seems to use POC for her shoots to reflect well on her but doesn’t actually carry through where it really matters - for example hiring POC or people from lower income backgrounds.

also I just found it weird she did her dissertation on cultural appropriation, she seems obsessed with coming across as some white saviour who cares so much about racial issues but I never actually see her do anything practical or useful to help this?

I noticed Grace added in a comment on her day in the life post about "balls to walls productivity is my coping mechanism it's not normal."

I genuinely appreciate the sentiment that yes that's not normal and people shouldn't feel bad for not being super productive every single day but... what balls to walls productivity is she talking about outside a pretty normal work from home work load? Like... that day in the life didn't seem too strenuous. Which is actually fine as long as you don't repeatedly make out you're never not working and never expand on what your "emailing" and "meetings" entail.

It also annoys me how she always has to mention that she is so productive and working hard is her coping mechanism. Does choosing which bikini to wear for tanning and sitting in the hot tub each day really scream 'I put my energy into my work to get through difficult times'.

Why are people still hyping this girl and preaching that she's such an iconic boss babe. Someone please get her taken off the Forbes 30 under 30 list if possible.

I think what I find frustrating is people like Grace, Steph, Zanna etc is that there’s no transparency when it’s comes to that wealth? We would all love to be able to get the financial support from our families to start up a dream business and buy a million pound house at 21 but we just can’t.

If they just explained they were fortunate enough to get the financial backing rather than have their impressionable followers believe its through hard work and dedication.

These young followers pay for the guides with good intentions but it just lines their pockets? I do actually think shes don’t very well to create the businesses that she has... maybe I’m just salty I don’t have the financial backing but I find it shady these people are happy to take the money off of people who probably save up and work minimum wage jobs to buy it

The fact she was able to use her internship money really highlights her privilege to me.

Only somebody who already lived in London in a house where they didn’t have to pay rent with parents who didn’t need financial help from their kids (believe it or not A LOT of young people have jobs just because their family needs the extra money) would be able to do that. Grace was incredibly privileged even to be in the financial position to do that internship (most people would not be able to live in London for a year on an internship salary - hence why I can guarantee that no kids from the north can do fancy internships at investment banks) , never mind having the ability to save up that money and spend it on starting a business.(I’ll hold my hands up, most of the above applies to me too)

She had the money and she used it wisely. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. I just feel like if she won’t recognise her privilege somebody else has to because blatantly ignoring it is one of the reasons why the U.K. is in this state.

Maybe Grace doesn’t actually think she is privileged and all of the above has never crossed her mind? I’d assume growing up in Kensington exclusively going to the best private schools and then going to Oxford isn’t really going to give you much perspective. That’s not Grace’s fault at all but this is why you need to listen to what people have to say and learn.

I remember a while back when someone called her out on Twitter for the fact that TALA has repeatedly failed to address or resolve any quality issues with their products such as the crotch of the zinnia leggings ripping or the see through joggers and Grace said that all their launches are set up 6 months in advance and that’s why nothing can be done immediately. First of all, how is that sustainable? Just bombing your customers with new stuff every 2 weeks without any possibility of feedback before the next launch. A truly sustainable company would have a few launches per year. Second, TALA is now over a year old, if the 6 month thing is true, why do the same issues they’ve had since the start persist? And third, how is she okay releasing faulty products to her loyal customers after knowing that there’s issues with the products?? She gives these excuses making it out like her hands are tied but if she really cared, she’d do a recall and scrap the planned launches until the problem is resolved.

Whenever she does these 'day in the life of a CEO' things she never actually says what she does... She always just says she has a 'meeting' or a 'conference' but doesn't give any insight as to what running your own business actually involves...

Now we all know that because she doesn't actually run the businesses herself, but how can other people not see that at all? Her stans just instinctively type 'YAAAASS QUEEN' in the comments as soon as they see her face. The journalists who publish this shit must be laughing at her the whole time.

The only work-related thing she did in that video was 'monitoring the website'... What does that involve? Hitting refresh a few times while sitting on the couch watching Friends? How does she even take herself seriously?!

All of that just strikes me as she is a little girl playing the role of CEO like it’s a little game.
Like obviously some content will be private and wouldn’t make sense for her to divulge all her business info. But she could expand and be like ‘so today it’s a meeting regarding some new stock for BND, we typically have meetings like this once a week’ etc ‘This morning I was answering emails for a good 2-3 hours, which might not seem like hard work but we have some key things coming up such as the launch of XYZ so I have to make sure I’m reviewing XYZ and signing it off’ or SOMETHING to provide some actual content to people ffs! Anyone can swan about calling themselves CEO, But actually being a legitimate CEO who has responsibilities and isn’t just the face of a company is a whole different ballgame.

Bamboo cutlery £0.51 bought in bulk (delivered for free if you buy 10 at 92p). Tala bamboo cutlery £25 + £5 delivery. It comes in a bigger case and is branded, but still absolutely ridiculous markup. They probably come from the same place and tala is no more ethical.

What's even more insane and hilarious is that when ppl call Grace out for this, her minions are all "what's wrong with expanding a business, you're supposed to do whatever you can to remain competitive" and whatever it is that they say to literally excuse Grace from anything that they'd blame others for. Just concentrate on your own posts and report any you think cross a line, it gets into a mess if people are all declaring what should and shouldn't be spoken about. Leave the moderation to the mods.

Imogen's thread has blown up as she's kept denying that she's had lip fillers and she's turned people asking about her lips into death threats for attention.

Grace on the other hand started her rip off career with an ebook that rather than being sold for a reasonable price she split it into 12 all being sold for £10 each (or was it £15?). Selling a pdf for around £1 a page?!? And the cons have spiraled since then. Not to mention her constant contradictions and not acknowledging her privilege.

I don't think anyone pulled anything necessarily nor do I think her parents paid for her to get in or anything. However, there is no way in hell that she would have got in with those grades if she wasn't so privileged. Oxford apparently will be lenient with grades if you have an exceptional personal statement.

Grace has read her personal statement out on a video before and its absolutely crazy how many opportunities she has had throughout her life. Her parents paid for her to go to the Royal College of Music and they sent her to a private primary school based in a CATHEDRAL with its own cathedral choir (what!!!) She specifically applied for music at the college renowned for its cathedral choir (it is also known for recruiting students to be part of the choir and she got her £100 scholarship on the condition that she would be a part of the choir). She went to one of the best private schools in the country with advisors entirely dedicated to perfecting students' personal statements and Oxbridge interview techniques. Her parents even sent Grace and her sisters to a ridiculously expensive french nursery so they could learn a bit of French while they were still young. Someone has even mentioned on here that when she was just 16 she had a work placement at a prestigious investment bank that doesn't even do work placements, and she has also had work experience at the Victoria and Albert museum (which just so happens to be where her Mum is employed)

Grace is just the tip of the ice berg as well. It's absolutely insane how many opportunities are thrown at rich white kids in this fucking country. My best friend dated someone who went to Eton (she met him at uni) and the amount of opportunities he had without even having to ask for them actually made me feel a bit sick. Despite being insanely average and not very intelligent, he's now working at one of the big four... shock.

7.30am: wake up in the mornin feelin like p diddy! this is a fun work from home luxury lie in, sometimes I even push it to 8.30 (I know calm down grace). I wake up to a radio alarm which is nice because it slowly helps you realise that ur alive and the world exists
8am: workout! I do a really short 20 minute session and hardly ever longer than this - this helps me focus (working out gets my brain going so if I’m not careful I end up writing some sort of project on my phone instead of training), it also helps me not burn out
8.30am: I end the workout with a 2 min plank which is the first time I go on my phone if I’m being good (spoiler alert: this has a low success rate). very aware I sound like a psychopath rn. Head upstairs to shower & change into something presentable on my top half #zoomlyf
9am: another coffee & plan my week - I split my to do list into quick ticks, emails/messages, tasks & projects. This helps me stay on top of everything without getting overwhelmed, and helps me time block to work on projects rather than just ticking off quantity rather than quality. I try to keep this as skeletal as poss at this point in the week. I then had around 30 mins to do some quick ticks & respond to messages
9.50am: briefing call for 10am
10am: recruiter call for some roles at @wearetala - time to get scaling baby!
11am: approvals: I receive 2 approval emails per day split into quick approvals & projects which can be anything from approving collection designs, to app updates to PR interviews. I still approve the large majority of movement at both TALA and @shreddy (incl. @b_ndstore), so this makes movement a lot more succinct & allows the teams freedom to operate whilst still enabling me to be a lil bit of a control freak. Other things done before füd inclüd
* Sent out emails - shreddy post-challenge plans, review of the new Condé Nast Sustainable Fashion Glossary & and a summary of how covid-19 has highlighted irresponsible business practices in fashion, and the ways the industry could change going forwards - sent to team TALA
* Looked at rewiringfashion.org, a very interesting analysis of how the fashion industry should look re sustainability and its calendar - again, sent in write up to team TALA
12.30pm: made me some truffle mushrooms on a bagel for breakfast (weirdly boujie but truffle oil addict) - I don’t intentionally intermittently fast but it helps me to regulate my funky blood sugar for longer in the day & I’m most productive in the morning so I get distracted with work. In my lunch break I watched some youtube (some days trashy some days interesting financial/business - depends on my mood)
1.30pm: prep for 2pm call and sent out a few more emails based around my project approvals
2pm: weekly call with the whole of TALA HQ where we touch base on eeeeverything
3pm: ticking things off: a quick touch base call here and there, review of a few samples, actually no clue what else I did in this time. Definitely ate a chocolate bar. Should have taken a longer lunch break because brain was too fried at this point - had a little music loud boogie round the kitchen to help
3.45pm: prep for my call & made a coffee, ate another chocolate bar
4pm: call with TALA operations & creative about future collection plans and release structures
5pm: called a TALA partner for an update chat following this Harvard business course I’ve been doing - needed to discuss website updates and release plans from previous call, then reviewed next B_ND restock plan
6pm: TALA team quiz! Rescheduled from last week
7pm: dog walk
8pm: collapse on sofa for trashy tv and dinner
